The food here is great, atmosphere is relaxed, service is okay. We were greeted when we walked in, and seated immediately. They brought water and cups out right away. We were given menus and time to look over it. My husband chose the fried chicken, and I ordered the yuk gae jang. It took about 20 minutes for our food to come out, along with banchan. When the food came out, it came together and it looked delicious. It was all very hot and clearly fresh. My soup was spicy, not too spicy, and not too salty. It had a great amount of beef and a great amount of vegetables. Very well balanced. The fried chicken was amazing. Sweet, spicy, crunchy, and moist. I was jealous of my husbands choice. My only complaint about this place is they didn't come to check on us AT ALL. We ate for a long time and not once did they come around. There's an array of Korean restaurants in the area so it's difficult to remember what's good and what's not, especially if you're not regulars and with the quick turnover rate. We actually mistook this place for another, but ended up having a decent experience. The interior is very modern with a lounge feel and the side dishes were surprisingly better than average. Service was slightly lacking, however. They seem flustered even though there were only 2 other groups and they crammed everything onto the table, leaving us to clear out the plates and reorganize the dishes to the correct person. Fried dumplings - Pretty good with a crisp, not overly oily wrapper. The stuffing didn't fill the entire wrapper, but still had good flavor. Dukbokki - Quite spicy with a hint of sweetness. The duk wasn't too chewy or hard. Comes with a soft-boiled egg. Grilled fish - This was the best dish of the night. Perfectly cooked, although the skin could have been crispier, and not too salty. Came with a side of doenjang jjigae which was a nice addition. Soon doo boo - On the watery side and the doo boo was firmer than it should be. Yook gae jang - Not the best, not the worst. Had a lot of beef and veggies though, plus a hefty serving of noodles at the bottom. Overall, I would only recommend the grilled fish. The recent reviews are correct: This place is To Sok Jip #2 and it clearly says so in the window of this restaurant, despite still bearing the old Danji name on the main storefront sign. Even their chopstick wrappers still say Danji. However the menu is of the original To Sok Jip in Annandale. Food is the exact same quality and quantity as the Annandale location. The same casseroles, stews, fish dishes (I love the broiled mackerel!). Their yook gae jang beef stew is the best I've had. Expect lots of bold flavor, spice, and authentic smells that are definitely not for newcomers to Korean food, but more for intermediate diners who are used to the taste of kimchi and seafood. This restaurant is definitely more spacious than in Annandale, however it still attracts long lineups on weekends. So do not be late if you're hungry, make sure you show up no later than 6:30pm on weekends unless you'll be waiting. Word of warning, the service may seem very minimal and quick, with little interaction, as well as you having to wait a few minutes before you can successfully flag down waitstaff. This to me is a sign that they haven't prepared for the raging popularity of this location. The waitstaff are not trying to give you attitude, so DON'T take it personally, and just be patient - they at the end of the day want your table cleared just as badly as you want to be served. read more

I had my eye on this place awhile ago but never got a chance to try it. Finally my roomie wanted to grab dinner last night so I recommended this place due to the good reviews. Our group ordered an egg-based pancake with octopus bits in it -- and by God, it was HUGE!!! It was like a small-sized Papa John's pizza. This place used to be one of my favorite Korean restaurants, but ever since the owner has changed, the menu has changed and so did the service. You can tell by how this place is no longer crowded. The food tastes okay but it took me a long time to decide what I wanted to get because either the food I want is no longer on the menu or they can't make it at the time (which I didn't get any explanation why). I don't think I'll be coming back to this place unless I'm forced to. read more

This place is probably rubbish to mediocre. A lot of people ordered the budaejigae and so I wanted to try it. It might just be me, but it tasted oily and meaty and no other flavor. They also don't give you that many noodles so it's literally like 3 types of meat and a hint of ramen noodles, with meat broth. The kimchi fried rice also barely had any flavor to it and was just mediocre. Definitely needed more salt too, which is surprising because you would think Kimchi fried rice would be easy to make. The banchan too was also mediocre. Nothing that really made me say refill this for me again! read more

Not bad, service was good, may update my review once I had more variety from the restaurant. I feel like three stars is harsh, especially since I'm probably headed back one of these days... but the soondubu jigae had a pretty major flaw. The soondubu Jigae (soft tofu stew) is similar to a lot of soft tofu stews in the area but doesn't come with the full service of, say, Lighthouse Tofu, and when my friend got it here, despite being in a dolsot (sizzling rock pot), the stew was not really bubbling. It was... warm, not hot. It almost looked like they waited to serve it until what I ordered came out. This flaw is an entire star off the review. Furthermore, I know it was only like $8 but it looked pretty anemic, with only tofu and a green onion or three... no meat, substantial vegetables, or seafood to be seen. I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken, which then makes the above statement sort of make sense but is still something of a misstep. That said... the Korean Fried Chicken was the standout, with deeply fried, breaded and ultra crispy bits of chicken that had a decent meat-to-breading ratio and the sauce and flavors were really spot on. Dissecting the dish a little, they seem to be using almost a layer of sweet rice cake as breading so it can stand in the fryer longer and get extra crispy... but chewy and soft in the inside. Both my friend and I enjoyed it immensely. I was a little apprehensive ordering a $16 plate from a Korean restaurant (price point, price point!) but it was well enough for two meals and I eat a lot. read more

We decided to explore Centreville for dinner at the last minute, we looked up a few new places we have not yet been to and landed on Danji's yelp page. Thanks to my fellow yelpers, this place indeed was great. A lot of people commented on their chicken dish and a few other entrees (most popular, seemed like) and we ended up ordering the most popular dishes. Spicy chicken was delicious, they are boneless, battered, a bit of spicy and sweetness at the same time and it was super duper crispy. A big portion and you can certainly share with two people. We also ordered marinated pork and baby octopus with assorted vegetables, rice cakes and etc. also a big portion and more than enough for two. I was pleasantly impressed how delicious both entrees were and love the fact it is so CLEAN, and open inside. I love every dish at this place. Their fried chicken is what they're known for. I must say.. it's reduced in size three fold since I last visited a year ago. Now it's about an inch in diameter. It used to be about 3 inches in diameter. It was amazing. Their omerice is yummy. Their donkatsu is a pretty hefty portion. Their ddukboki is on the sweeter side but not too sweet. Unlike many traditional Korean restaurants, this place has great customer service and the staff was patient in explaining the food to my friends who weren't familiar to Korean food. They also accept multiple credit cards, which is rare in Asian places - we had 6 credit cards and they were happy to accommodate us. The restaurant also had dividing panels that you can pull down from the ceiling to create privacy for your party. Each table also has a bell on the bench that you can ring the staff whenever you need to speak to them. Very cool place and overall delicious. read more
