Man if I live here I would eat pho all day cuz it's always "dang"cold. Passing through bend for the night, I needed to end with pho. This place popped up and I decided to give it a shot. Walking in, nobody was Vietnamese. Including our waitress. Hey, we are in bend . It took awhile for our waitress to get to us. It felt long since We already knew what we wanted, because the mission was pho. She was busy kindly explaining what egg noodle was to another patron. I'm use to the kind of pho restaurant service who slams the menu on the table and asking me what I want assuming I already know what I want, the menu is there for just effort. That rare great service made me kinda nervous , is this place even serving up authenticity bomb pho broth?? Lol Anyways she was super nice and we got our pho promptly. I went on with all my condiments, the lemon, basil, bean sprouts, sircha, hoisin... I haven't been to Dang's or it's sister restaurant since pre-pandemic and certainly don't recall the proud prices. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai and added vegetables. This dish was $8.50 when the restaurant opened about 5 years back and it is now $23. The meal was super disappointing. The taste was ok, a bit greasy. The addition of vegetables was comical: two carrots, a piece of broccoli and handful of zucchini. Definitely will be buying this dish elsewhere in the future. read more

Hubby and I enjoyed the V1 noodle combination. Nicely presented with a good balance of components and the fish sauce was tasty. I might have liked a few more herbs (mint and basil), but that is a minor point. We asked about a small soup and we're offered a small cup of simple broth for a modest charge that was delicious and rounded out the meal. Service was prompt and courteous. Save yourself sometimes and DON'T COME HERE! I've never been so upset leaving at a restaurant! First of all, this place is NOT family friendly. No kids menues nor accommodating to my son needs. He is only 20months old and can't finish a whole big adult bowl. Second of all, the service is TERRIBLE! Jesus Christ I've never ever had this bad of a service ANYWHERE!!! I mean ANYWHERE! None of the 2 waitresses checked up on us for 20mins maybe more. Our waitress doesn't really seems to care at all about us. Mind you, I am a waitress for 10+ years. I've known restaurants business well. And the other waitress was sitting with a guy customers for literally the whole entire time. If you're gonna have a talk, know when it's freaking appropriate! Excellent first experience! It was a cold, stormy day and a big bowl of soup sounded good, so we decided to stop in for a late lunch. They have a nice big and diverse menu and everything sounded good, but I stuck to the pho and it didn't disappoint! I got it with the beef brisket and meatballs. My wife is new to Vietnamese food and saw pad Thai noodles and ordered that. It looked really good and I confirmed that as fact by sneaking a bite! Overall very good lunch, extremely friendly server named Paul, and nice clean restaurant. I'll be back to explore more of the menu for sure! read more

Good food, but what happened to the prices?? Prices shot up way too high to justify for a casual, mostly takeout kind of place. Such as... $23.95 for Pad Thai? That's a head scratcher. Even with inflation, there are other places in town with similar style of food that didn't seem to have such drastic price increases. That being said, I've had several of their dishes before the prices got crazy and they have all been very good. Dang's was our last food stop on our last day in Oregon. For a small restaurant, they have a good flow of customers that keeps the restaurant busy. I suggest ordering their Pad Thai and the special combo rice plates. The side soup for the rice plate was really good and soothing. The price is reasonable for the portion they serve. Their Vietnamese coffee tasted more diluted than what I was used to. Let them know how strong you like your coffee or how much milk you want in it. The pho could have used some more flavor. I thought the broth was sort of murky and over boiled and it lost its rich flavor. The owner came and personally welcomed us. He made sure we got the service we needed. He showed great care for warning us about the winter weather road condition on US 97 and even went out of the way by running out to warn us one more time when we were about to pull out of he parking lot. read more

My beef pho broth had appropriate spices and richness. The bean sprouts and basil accompanying the pho was fresh and crisp. We were pleasantly surprised how delicious both of our dishes were and glad we found Dang's Vietnamese Restaurant. Since coming back from Vietnam in 2015, I have had the urge to have the same mouthwatering pho taste that you can find anywhere in Vietnam. I have not had the best luck but have gotten close and even had slight tastes that remind me of nam! Dang's is right on spot, as close as I have come to Hanoi's wonderful Pho. Just came here for lunch. Farther down the road but worth it, good value. Soup was fresh and loaded with goodie's, and to boot was piping hot goodness. It was cold today and this hot bowl of tasty goodness hit the spot. Spring rolls were fresh and dipping sauce had character, yum. Did I mention the Hot Vietnamese Coffee brought immediately to the table so as to thaw my chilled bones. Hot and bold, aah. I have tried both Vietnamese restaurants here in Bend. And for most went to the other one down the street. But things have definitely changed there and I want my patronage to mean something for being consistent and devoted, not to mention my hard earned wages. Well, the food is absolutely delicious. I got the veggie pho and it was so good! It was packed with fresh vegetables and noodles. The broth was amazing. It needed very little sauce added to it, because it was already very flavorful. My partner got a meat pho and enjoyed it very much. Prices are very reasonable, I believe the soup was around $8.50 each. Service was friendly, but could've been somewhat better. They started cleaning up and putting up chairs before the closing time, which made me feel rushed and a bit uncomfortable. Because of this, I asked for my soup to go. Beware, they will give you a container to take the soup, but they will not put it in for you. Be prepared for a mess. Overall, the soup is delicious, and pretty comparable to the other pho restaurant in the city. I would definitely go back. read more

the pho is legit! i grew up eating pho in Fountain Valley. i literally eat pho every week. although the broth looks lighter in color than typical pho broth, it's really good. deep rich meat flavor without msg saltiness and after taste. i usually don't finish all of the broth but this broth was so good i slurped it all down. the meat was very good quality and cooked really tender. the fatty brisket melts in your mouth. i loved the tender tripe too. generous meat portions! this pho was way better than the pho in Oakland or SF. i was in Bend for 4 days and ate here twice! read more

Came in here due to word-of-mouth recommendations. The vegetarian pho I ordered was probably one of the worst I've ever had. It had no flavor at all, and seemed to be just hot water. On top of having very little flavor (even with hoison, chili sauce, and sriracha added), the amount of noodles they gave was very little. We also ordered the salad wraps, which were OK. The downside was the peanut sauce was very watery, and also lacked the punch of flavor that peanut sauce usually has. All in all, I would avoid this place if you are a vegetarian. I'm really unsure where all these great reviews are coming from, though, as the place was definitely cutting corners everywhere. The atmosphere and service was very awkward, as well. read more

Of the two Vietnamese places in town, this one wins hands-down. Friendly people, clean (major contrast to the other place up the road), and the food is reliable. It's not popular to say around here, but I've lived a long time in coastal California and have had access to great Vietnamese food. I'm hopeful that we'll get more options in town but this gets the job done well for now. read more

Both places offer great selection of delicious Vietnamese food, but if you are looking for some unique Vietnamese dishes, such as Crepes or Claypot rice, Dang's is the answer. I am impressed by the clean interior and the well thought-out menu with detailed explanations. Tried the Vietnamese Crepe and it was refreshing and healthy. The owner make sure to serve the crepe with lots of fresh veggies. The beef noodle soup ( pho) is a must try. The broth is clean and delicious, the noodles and toppings are just right. This location is in a small shopping area on the Southeast side of town, which is very close to home for me. I love their Pho and during the stay at home order I decided to grab some take out for my family for dinner. They did a great job of having everything ready, and you check out with your food right inside the front door. We ordered steak and shrimp Pho and chicken fried rice for my picky youngest 6 year old.
