    Crispy Ginger( Dry)

Overall food was on the mild side compared to other halka restaurant. If you enjoy halka flavour but not too keen on spicy food, I would recommend this place. Crispy ginger beef ( $15.50) I ordered dry however it was too crunchy for me.It was like eating meat candy. Not sure if they have a choice of "wet" on the menu. Also had Shrimp balls 5 pcs($8.99), masala fish($12.99), Jeera green beans($13.50). You can never go wrong with deep fried food. They were all okay... not incredible or anything. Manchurian Fried Rice w/ bbq pork($11.99) supposed to be made with green chilies, fresh coriander, onion, ginger & roasted garlic according to the menu description. None of those flavours were really kicking in. Also as you see in the picture bright red color turned me off. Possibly added with food coloring. Portion size was good though.

Had the spicy pork egg roll & manchurian pork ribs. The ribs were so-so. The ribs were a bit crispy but the sauce was disappointing - it lacked rich umami punch & there wasn't much flavour. The complimentary rice was rather small - it was like a cup portion of soup. The egg roll was great. It was a nice variation of the traditional egg roll. While the outside was the same as other egg roll, inside was curried peas & minced pork. There was a lot of meat in the egg roll & it was very moist & tasty.

Szechuan chicken lunch combo w white rice, hot and sour soup $10.99 (ginger ale not shown )and half order of shrimp balls. Absolutely love this restaurant. It's been the same ownership and chef since forever. The food is consistent and so delicious. You get 10% off if you pay cash. Please go and support them. They have amazing lunch combos for $10.

We ordered delivery. I've seen recommendations for this and have been curious. I ordered around 8 and they close at 9. Everything tasted like they cooked it at noon. Crispy ginger chicken my knife wouldn't go through. For a bit of childhood memories I ordered chicken balls. They were so disappointing. They dipped cooked chicken in some gooey dough so that chicken was also overcooked 2/3 of the food I ordered went to the compost bin.

This place is unclean, disgusting and has terrible customer service. I found a dead fly at the bottom of my takeaway container. Went back to show them my food with the fly in it as evidence and I got called disgusting while being sworn at by the manager. Terrible customer service. Apparently a fly in your food isn't a big deal according to the manager. I was "just exaggerating", also according to the manager. Don't eat here. 0/10 recommend. Attached are pictures of the fly at the bottom of my food. Terribly uncleanly.

Hahaha... don't listen to all those people who aren't satisfied with the Danforth Dragon. Those are the same people who think Chinese food is chicken balls, egg rolls and fortune cookies. Hello! Those are just made-up foods. China is a massive country with so many regional cuisines. What most people in Toronto think of when they think of Chinese food is actually Cantonese food. The more well-known, but less famous Chinese foods are probably Szechuan and Shanghai (dumplings, green onion pancakes, etc.) fare. Hakka food, on the other hand, is a different beast altogether... and at the Danforth Dragon, they don't serve pure Hakka food... but they serve Indian-influenced Hakka food. They serve food that is popular amongst the Hakka Chinese living in India. You're not going to find Cantonese Chow Mein here, folks. Back to the restaurant: the service is always excellent, and the food is always amazing! I usually order the dishes that are either spicy or cripsy... those are my favourite. If you aren't sure, ask for guidance and the chef/owner will be happy to oblige!

I ordered the crispy ginger beef take-out for dinner. It came with a bowl of rice. It cost $12.99. I was surprised by the large portion they packed for us. I felt that it was too crispy/battered, but overall tasted alright. I wouldn't mind trying their other dishes.

This joint is off the beaten path of the hustle and bustle of the main Danforth strip. We walk in and were immediately greeted and seated. They have one high chair and plates/bowls and children's plastic utensils. We proceeded to order half an order of shrimp pakoras, Manchurian fried rice and deep fried ginger chicken. The pakora were served with a cilantro based dipping sauce. They also have an In-house hot sauce which was very good. They were piping hot and fresh. Sooooo delicious! This was followed by the Manchurian rice which tasted just like any other fried rice. I could not taste the cilantro or hot sauce. But it was very good. The ginger chicken was tasty and was the dry kind without too much sauce the way I like it. It was on the sweet side which is not my personal preference but the dish was good when eaten with white rice. The price was on the higher side. Total bill came to $34 and $40 with tax and tip. Service was excellent. They kept refilling our glasses and the food came promptly. We also had lots of leftovers that we took to go. Very good overall. Would definitely return to try some of the other dishes.

The interior is nothing short of opulent: rich earthy tones, elegant dark green accents, and warm ambient lighting conspire to create a dining room that feels both regal and inviting, a space where one might genuinely dine as royalty. The kitchen demonstrates real command of Indian cuisine. Flavours arrive bold, layered, and unapologetically intense -- each dish speaking with the confidence of a well-rehearsed tradition. The breads, in particular, deserve special mention: naan emerges from the tandoor piping hot, beautifully blistered with charred grill marks, and with a texture that is at once pillowy and satisfyingly crisp. One could make a meal of the bread alone and leave content. Where the experience falters slightly is in pacing. A midweek lunch -- the dining room far from full -- still saw dishes arrive at a leisurely tempo more suited to a languid evening affair than a working professional's lunch hour. For a restaurant of this calibre, tightening the rhythm of service during daytime covers would elevate the experience considerably. That said, the wait is not without reward. What emerges from the kitchen is genuinely exceptional -- the sort of cooking that lingers in memory. Urban Maharajas is a destination that honours its namesake: lavish, flavourful, and fit for royalty. One simply hopes the court learns to keep pace with its guests.
