Chicken Kamasutra, spice level medium
Miranda L.

OMG. I could not say enough about how good this place is. Ambiance was beautiful and service was friendly and attentive. I got a mango lassi (10/10, was so creamy and thick and tasted like real mango, might be the best I've ever had) and the chef's own Chicken Kamasutra (10/10!!) spice level medium. Highly recommend; it was nutty, creamy, umami, a little sweet, and definitely had a little kick. So good. My bf got the butter chicken spice level mild, and he thought it was a tad on the sweeter side but liked it as well! We each liked our own dish more. We also had two orders of garlic naan because we absolutely devoured it - crispy on bottom, fluffy on top with some delicious garlic flavor. And what Indian meal is complete without some good garlic naan? Be advised you have to order rice separately, but one order feeds two. Overall this place deserves the high reviews. We heard about it through recommendation of our uber driver and it did not disappoint!

I'm really surprised by how well reviewed this place is given I had some of the most disappointing Indian food I've had in a long time here. I ordered the Shaam Savera with a Plain Naan. The Shaam Savera was gummy and served in a boring gravy that was a tad too sweet. The naan was undercooked - soft throughout with absolutely no crisp. The service, however, was fantastic. Everyone I interacted with was a pleasure, and my waiter was very attentive.

Lunch special with lamb curry and butter chicken.

This was such a relaxing lunch. The service was amazing. A little over the top without being too intrusive if that makes sense. They have a lunch special - vegetarian or not vegetarian. It's a lot of food for a decent price. It comes with 2 entree choices plus rice, salad, naan, appetizer, and dessert. It was a lot of food for lunch! Great price too. I chose butter chicken and lamb curry. Medium spice. It was delicious. The flavor profiles were on point. The lamb and chicken were tender. Rice and naan were a perfect accompaniment. I highly recommend this place.

Everything was really good! My lamb sikh kebab was delicious and I enjoyed the different style of samosas in the sauce they came in. The customer service was very attentive and we appreciated how sweet and welcoming they were to our one year old toddler!

We were actually walking to another restaurant when the amazing smells coming from this restaurant stopped us! It did not disappoint. We were a group of 6 and able to be seated right away, it is a fairly large restaurant. Our server was new but friendly and another server was quick to come over and assist when he was struggling to find something when taking our order. The food was fast and delicious! The servings are large. It's a short walk to the lake so makes for a perfect place to eat.

Chicken lababdar

My first compliment is for Manuel; the people make the place and Manuel is an asset to the team because he takes pride and sincerity in his craft. His service was absolutely impeccable throughout. Secondly and moving on to the food. As someone of Indian descent, I am incredibly picky about Indian food and this place was a pure luck of the draw gamble. Well the gamble was absolutely worth it because the food is phenomenal. To put it plainly it is some of the best Indian food I have had on my travels. Appetizer - my barometer is either chili paneer or a chaat (in this case bhel puri) and both dishes were spot on. Entree - I'm glad I chose something other than my usual chicken tikka masala in that I went for the chicken lababdar and my colleague chose the lamb vindaloo. We paired both dishes with garlic naan and jeera rice. After being up since 2:30am and working all day, this was what we needed. The food was soul fulfilling and we practically ate with both our appetites and eyes. The establishment is aesthetic and charming plus the music was awesome as we desis all appreciate our Bollywood music. 5 stars and I look forward to returning and shall pass the word around to my other pilot brethren for their layovers in Toronto!

The service and food was outstanding. Nourin was exceptionally attentative and helpful (I am notoriously indecisive). The meal (Shaam Savera & chef special naan) was just what I needed and did not disappoint. Plenty vegetarian options - which I love.

Lovely meal nice calm ambiance and I'd recommend the dal makhani! Also open Monday nights.

The place was small and I almost missed the sign! When we entered, an older gentleman greeted us warmly and took us to a seat at the back. He brought us water and informed us that if we have any questions, he would be happy to answer them. We decided to try their thali (for two people, a part of the dinner menu). My neighbors picked Utsav Thali (2 non-vegetarian and 1 vegetarian) and so did we. For drinks, they ordered tea and we ordered masala chai. Everything was delicious- the food came hot and fresh, and the flavours were rich and deep. Plus, the portion size reflected the price point. We ate like royalty! We were too full, so we did not get a chance to try the desserts. Delicious food, friendly service, and quiet ambiance- a hidden gem in Yorkville area!

Going there on an early weekday evening, the place was fairly quiet and we received exceptionally warm service from the owner. The ambiance was muted and elegant, despite being a small space. I ordered the eggplant bharta, which turned out to be one of the best I've ever had. The smoky flavour of the eggplant blended exquisitely with the various spices - I also loved that the texture was slightly more chunky than usual. I could tell that they definitely toned down the heat a little, which I appreciated - just make sure to let them know if you prefer otherwise. My friend enjoyed her paneer dish very much as well, and in fact was so impressed by the restaurant (or maybe was hallucinating) that she swore the water was somehow special as it tasted sweet...spoiler, it was just tap water. An unexpectedly wonderful find! I suppose I will be frequenting the area more often.

They gave us a whole garlic naan as it is uncut in the foil and that was very impressive! Really cool that they did that cuz most restaurants just cut it up and give it to you if you want it to go. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more. So they gave us four samosas on the house! So nice of them. Husband definitely enjoyed these.

"Kothur," they said, almost in unison. That was the recommendation, and it stuck with me. I walked by the place once. The exterior didn't scream "hidden gem." Thought about ordering delivery a few times but never followed through. Life, you know? Today, I finally went. From the outside, still nothing to write home about. Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it. We started with the Brussels sprouts which is always a great choice from here. Crispy on the outside and not an overwhelming Brussels sprout taste. This is likely because there is a generous sprinkling of grated parm and a great amount of dip. We tried the crispy tuna sushi. The tuna was beautifully marinated, so flavourful. And the sushi was nice and crispy. The vodka pie was a seasonal item and when we saw it listed, we knew we needed to try it. The sauce- amazing, the press was nice and flaky and light and really tasty. And the soccer Sada added nice saltines and flavour without being too overwhelming. For happy hour, the apps and pizzas were $5 off, and the ranch water was $5. I'd come back for the pizza alone! Jeans was our waitress and she was great!
