Popped in for lunch after visiting the St. Lawrence marketplace next door. The location and vibe are very nice, and you can sit inside or outside by the walkway to the market. Service was good. We ordered Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka, and Palak Paneer - often our go-to favorites in Indian restaurants. Mango Lassi to drink - very nice. Although we did ask for a heat level a click above mild, everything came out mild - so no curry afterburn this time. Otherwise the dishes were executed very well. read more

The dal and garlic naan was delicious here! Reminded me of the black dal at Dishoom in London. The meat platter on the other hand was just okay, nothing special. Ive also ordered the butter chicken which was pretty regular, not worth ordering again. We came on a rainy Sunday night and were the only ones there! Service was great. My husband got the chicken tikka masala and I got the butter chicken. He asked for a modification to his and it was brought out correctly (no peppers). We also got a side of garlic naan. Everything was delicious. Restaurant had great ambience: modern, yet had lots of character. I thought prices were reasonable. We would come back here next time we're in Toronto. I saw a sign that they were serving fish tacos and they did not disappoint! They were some of the best fish tacos I've ever had, no doubt. We also had a delicious and refreshing watermelon salad with fresh watermelon from the market next door. A group of seven enjoyed an annual Christmas Curry last night at Bindia after pints at nearby O'Briens. The restaurant is quite modern and located in a nice spot by the St. Lawrence market. We determined that rather than ordering off the menu our waiter Akeem should bring us a little of everything. I have to say the every item from the apps through the curries and biriani were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed, especially the fiery lamb maas! Had a wonderful dinner at Bindia the other night with friends! Reservations were easy and made on Open Table. They have a cute patio along the front of the restaurant but since it was raining we had to sit indoors. I was surprised at how large the inside of the restaurant was. It was also very clean, physically distanced and all workers wore masks. For food we started with veggie pakoras and tandoori chicken and for the mains, 4 of us shared butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and chana masala (chickpea) with some rice and naan (garlic and butter). The dishes were slightly pricier than I'm used to but overall it was delicious. Service was also really great here. I would recommend checking them out if you're in the St. Lawrence Market area and craving for some Indian food! read more

Tried Bindia for the first time with friends post COVID reopening. Restaurant was clean, felt safe with well distanced tables and serving staff were very polite, wore masks and attentive. Food was great! We tried the vegetable pakoras & Tandoori Chicken to start. Appetizer portions are small for the price, but very delicious in flavour and cooked well. For mains we had Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Channa Masala. The butter chicken was quite typical and good. Chicken Tikka masala was my favourite item with a thicker gravy and more traditionally cooked. Channa masala was surprisingly good too. For desserts we had Gulab Jamuns and Rasmalai, which everyone also enjoyed. For a downtown Indian restaurant in the area, I was pleasantly surprised and will return! read more

The food is ACTUALLY such a lavish spread across the different tastes, you're thoroughly going to enjoy it if your taste buds like to explore the different tastes and discovering new levels. While we went on a weekend, evening for that matter of fact, the service was quite nice and attentive, staff is really friendly. Would give a heads up about the menu prices though, as the cost is a little of the upper side of the spend. I love Indian food and the flavors Bindia served did not disappoint. It just cost a lot. We ordered 2 chicken dishes & 2 vegetarian dishes. I think for the half the price, you can get the same at a different restaurant. I've been to many different Indian restaurants and this was the first time that the entrees didn't come with rice nor naan. You have to order that separately which adds to the total. Five star for food; four stars for service (so I'll round up). The food was really excellent--this was high quality Indian cuisine, clearly made with care. We had vegetable samosas, palak paneer, and lamb biryani. Everything was top-notch. The service at the restaurant was not fabulous. When we arrived, it was in the middle of the busy supper hour but there was a table available in the corner of the patio. The host seated us and brought us menus but then promptly forgot about us for 20 minutes. I saw the manager point out to her that we had been neglected, so she came over and said, "so what do you want?" There was no offer to start us off with drinks first or any graciousness. To be fair, she looked really young. Maybe she was just learning the job? The food came slowly--but that's actually a good sign that it was being prepared fresh. But we also had to ask for our check after sitting around for a while after we finished. So not a fabulous experience with service. But the food more than made up for it. read more

A super fancy Indian restaurant in the heart of Toronto. The beautiful restaurant is well designed and decorated. The service is strictly ok from the hostess but our waitress was above average. We were a group of 6 people, and it felt they were having trouble with our orders. When our food arrived; they had to figure out who ordered what. Few items were forgotten. Strictly about my orders, I had Panner Makhni, Naan bread and Sev Poori. I am a person who knows Indian from my heart and my soul. This food wasn't Indian authentic; it felt commercialized. My paneer makhni's taste was more tomato puree instead of makhni (meaning butter sauce). The naan bread was very good. The sev poori, which supposed to be garnish with vegetables, yogurt, tamarind sauce and chickpeas crispy noodles. Unfortunately, I could barely taste the yogurt. Came here for lunch on Saturday. The waitress was kind and quick. We ordered the poori and samosa for apetizers. The poori wasn't anything like the poori I usually get at other places. This was too light and crispy, nothing like a flatbread. There was cooked rice inside which made it a bit odd and sprinkled with some type of crispy grain. It was disapppinting because it was nothing like the poori we hoped to get. The samosa outter part was crispy and nice but inside it was potatoes and bland. For mains we ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, chicken curry and chicken bruiyani and rice and butter naan bread for the sides. The butter chicken , butter naan and paneer tikka masala were the showstoppers. The chicken was very moist in the butter chicken and the sauce was creamy and delicious. The butter naan was really fluffy but small portion. The paneer tikka masala's sauce was very flavourful. The chicken curry was disapointing as it was tangy and not spicy at all maybe because my friend ordered it medium spice. The chicken bruiyani was disapppinting as the chicken was really dry. The yoghurt sauce that came with it was very fresh. For dessert we ordered masala teas for digestion and rasamalai. The rasamalai's presentation was really elegant with beautiful black berries on the side. The rasamalai was very yummy but we found for the price it was a small portion. All the dishes looked like they were small portions but they were filling as we had plenty to take back home! Also we had window seating with a beautiful view of the St. Lawrence market! read more

The reason I can't is I have never been to Indian restaurant and ordered a dish that required me to pay extra $5 for any rice that should have had it anyway. What would normally be a rice serving for one cost $5 on top of the normal meal charge. Just seemed crazy to me. There was also no mention of it anywhere on their website so we were not aware and it was just added. 18% gratuity calculated after tax. Ridiculous. The server mentioned it when she brought the bill. Bindia Indian Bistro is located next to St Lawrence market and is beautifully decorated! It's quite spacious to accommodate large groups as well. My favorite was the okra (Bhindi Masala) and Paneer. Both are vegetarian options but super delicious. Fish pakora is a delicious appetizer. And lamb Vindaloo has a nice spicy kick. Garlic Naan is a must, and rice is always good to soak up the sauce! And top it all off with a mango lassi, which is not too sweet but still thick and creamy! The size is not very big. So you'll probably need appetizer and sides to go with your main for a full meal. read more

I was looking for some nice Indian restaurants in downtown Toronto and came across this place. I went for a weekday dinner. There is no need for the reservations on weekdays as only a couple of tables were occupied. Let's talk about the ambience and service first. The ambience is pretty amazing and very soothing to the eyes. I was quite surprised to see toilets for diabled people. So, it's a totally disabled friendly restaurant. The staff was also very nice & very attentive. Now let's talk about the food. We started with Papdi Chaat and Paneer Tikka as appetizers. The Papdi Chaat was amazing. Perfect crunchy papdis with a nice tangy flavor of chaat. Paneer Tikka was also good. In Main course, we ordered their Paneer Tikka Masala and Bhindi Masala with some breads. I felt the portion sizes could have been slightly more. There was nothing amazing about the main course but it was good. Finally finished the meal with some Gajar Halwa. The sweetness was perfect but I felt it can be improved by adding more Khoya or Milk during preparation. Overall, a nice place downtown to have some good Indian food. read more

After a long day of volunteer work, my mom and I were starving we walked down the street to Bindia. Located near St. Lawrence Market is a brightly coloured bistro with ambient lighting and an inspired menu. Butter Chicken, Curry Chicken and fresh naan were in order. The presentation was great and made for easy sharing. The Butter Chicken was creamy and had just the right amount of spice. Paired with the naan, I was in my glory. My mom's Curry Chicken was hotter than she expected, but the seasoning was delightful. So savoury! If you're wondering, we both needed water and extra napkins....that's how we roll. After all that savoury goodness, it was time for dessert. We tried the Gajrela(Indian Carrot Cake) and Kulfi(Indian ice cream flavoured with cardamom). Neither was what we expected. As you can see, the carrot cake was not a cake. It had cashews, carrot puree and nuts. That is one heavy cake! It kept you trying to figure out what is in it. It has so many different textures and layers; I'd absolutely order it again. The Kulfi was not as enjoyable. It looked like ice cream, it was cold like ice cream, but it was not ice cream. The presentation was great, but the texture of it was strange. Flavoured with cardamom, it didn't have much flavour. I do realize I'm used to the sugary variety, but after such a savoury meal, something a sweet should've stood out. The carrot cake is the way to go. The service there was good and the food was fresh. When we were puzzled by the carrot cake, our server was very knowledgeable(probably a common inquiry) and was able to solve some of the mystery. Plates were cleared quickly and our water glasses were (thankfully) kept full. The pricing was higher than we're used to, but from Durham Region and expect most restaurants in Toronto to be higher anyway. I wonder what other gems are around the St. Lawrence! read more

My god, the place was one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to, loads of flavor in the cooking and the naan is very fresh and flaky. We ordered the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan. We also got the sev puri and rasmalai. All of these items had tons of flavor and freshness to them. There was a load of flavor in the room. The staff is very polite and professional. The ambiance is very nice and refreshing. It is a true 4-5 star place that takes you back to a modern Indian twist. Love this food and ambiance. read more

For all the hype and great reviews it was not worth it. When I read the reviews, I think maybe people haven't really had goooood Indian food. The ambiance is very nice, the decor is nice, the rice pudding is to die for. But the biryani was mediocre... it has none of the spices it needs to have and only had turmeric.... was bland .... no cinnamon no cardamom and no saffron. The waiter was nice but I could hardly get a hold of him, when there were only 4 tables and another waitress.
