Tamasha was a vibe!! From the moment we walked in the energy was just amazing. We ordered the Veggie momos, butter chicken and veggie biryani. The Momos flavors were tied in together so well, they were filling, and a perfect appetizer. The butter chicken had the best flavor! The portion size was large and it was cooked amazingly. Came here for an early dinner on a weekday and was mildly surprised. We love Bollywood, so finding this while visiting was great! Beautiful murals inside that show off classic movie scenes. The servers and staff were friendly and helpful with the menu. We were the only ones inside at 6P, so we enjoyed our VIP attention. We ordered a few different cocktails and a large variety of appetizers and entrees. Everything was quite delicious! We were shocked to hear it turns into a nightclub in the evenings with live music, so we were happy to not be there then. The music can get loud inside, I would hope they would add acoustic panels. The meaning of this sentence is "how is the enthusiasm?" and I am not lying when I say my josh was pretty high when I decided to visit Tamasha after hearing about the place for MONTHS! For those who don't know, this is a modern Indian restaurant located in the Yonge & Davisville area. You'll be welcomed with snazzy bollywood music just as you enter and I've to say our server (Dikshant) went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the experience. The cocktail that I ordered was called Gulaboo (very apt name) because it didn't just look pink but also had a very refreshing taste of Rooh Afza mixed with vodka. We tried their tandoori wings and this was extremely flavourful and balanced with the right amount of spicy and smokiness. For main course, we had their dal makhni, chicken tikka masala and butter naan and we were very much impressed with the food quality and taste. The menu is quite basic. Super overpriced. Had the chicken tandoori momos. They were not fried or boiled, but over roasted and stiff. Its flavoured on the outside but the chicken doesn't have the tandoori seasoning. They provide plain mayonnaise with it. A thick mint-cilantro raita would have made more sense. 8 momos for $18.07 was not worth what was received. $8 would have been more reasonable.. Came in the middle of the week at lunch time. It was dead, so lots of seating. It is not Muslim owned but they claim it is all halal and the meat is from A1. No public parking nearby so come by transit or you have to use a public parking about 5 blocks away. Green P street parking is limited and next to impossible to get a space. So far, I have tried their lunch special. The Chicken Tikka Kathi Roll was delicious and good value for money. Lamb Rogan Josh - Tastes good but the problem is I did not realize how much rice would come with it. Price a bit steep for what you actually get. Food could be spicier but I guess they have to cater to all palates. Both times the order was ready in the time they said it would be. Service is friendly enough for take-out. I came here with a friend of mine to get some modern Indian cuisine, got here at 5PM (yes I Know its early) but we wanted plenty of time to catch up. When I first got there I was given a water to start until my friend reached; not sure if its because we were there early but no one came over to great us after she got there for over an hour. The only thing I was told when we first got there was that they had a two hour sit down limit; which considering we were the only ones in the restaurant was a bit rude to mention. I would understand saying that had they been busy at the time. Once we finally got served I ordered the aloo tiki burger w peri peri fries and my friend got paneer tika and a side of rice with a sizzling brownie for dessert. My burger was amazing, it reminded me of the food I get in India and the peri peri fries were by far the winner of the night. Burger had a potato patty and a mint chutney which was added a new fresh taste to the burger. The Peri peri fries were cripsy and had so much masala on them. Highly recommend. My fries did have a hair in it which is why I'm putting a low score but they were accommodating and provided me with a brand new dish. My friend loved her paneer tika dish (huge portion), although there was not many veggies in the dish itself. Sizzling brownie was delicious, you have hot chocolate fudge on top of a warm brownie with a dollop of ice cream. Another reason why the low stars is due to the washrooms, very smelly and unclean. Tamasha - means spectacle in Hindi. And I can totally understand what they are going for. Indian tapas bar featuring Bollywood/Hip Hop dance parties on weekends! I think it's about time that Indian street food got a spotlight on bar menus. There is so much beyond sub-par tikka masalas and butter chickens that don't get featured nearly as much. Tamasha features a refined menu with some delicious Indian street food classics like gol gappa and chaat... with some fusions like the hakka poutine and momos. I personally felt the spice level could be elevated, but understand they are trying to cater to the mainstream. I would love it if they had a couple of house sauces and chutneys to add a dash of heat/spice to your taste. Most items are shareable and the prices + portions are very reasonable. The draft list is small, but it's decent beer. They have a house beer - The Stonewall, which unfortunately they ran out of when I visited. But for $5, definitely give it a shot! I was there on a Tuesday evening, and it was very quiet. Understandably so - they just opened. I hope they get more attention from the after work crowd. I don't know how I didn't know about this restaurant before, but I recently discovered it through Skip The Dishes. I often have a hard time deciding what to eat when I'm hungry, so I browse the menus before settling on something. I am always trying to support small, local businesses and also try new spots when possible, so those two things were the deciding factor when I placed my order. I got the lamb biryani, lamb roganjosh and garlic naan. It arrived in a very decent time frame and was still quite hot so I didn't need to reheat anything. The food was delicious; the naan was probably the softest I've ever had, although I felt like it needed something (salt?). Still, I really enjoyed it. The biryani was probably the best I've ever had. So much flavour! The portion was good, and the lamb was so very tender. The lamb roganjosh was "almost" perfect. Flavours were amazing, the lamb perfectly cooked, but I really did not like the whole spices left in there. As I was finishing my meal, I bit into a whole clove and that was extremely unpleasant; that's all I could taste the rest of the evening. There were also other spices left whole that are not enjoyable when you bite into them. In a stew, you don't always see what you're eating with every spoonful. The ones that look like tree bark are easily picked out, same with the bay leaves, but the other ones kind of sneak up on you as you chew. I think that was my only complaint with this meal, so overall it was very good. I'll just be more careful in future. Will definitely order from here again. Their vegetarian and vegan dishes also look quite good and I'll be trying a few of those, too. read more

We were in the mood for Indian on a recent Saturday night, but I felt like trying a new restaurant, so Tamasha seemed like a good bet. A quick perusal of the intriguing menu led me to the Chicken Tikka Masala ("Boneless chicken breast roasted in the tandoor and tossed with onions and green/red pepper in rich tomato sauce and signature masala sauce"). It arrived still quite hot and I was immediately quite impressed by how delicious it smelled. And while I was initially a little disappointed by the lack of spice, I have to admit that the dish grew on me more and more as I ate it. There are so much delicious flavors going on here that I practically discovered something new with every bite. The chicken was cooked perfectly, too. A fun time! This is an indian food/ party spot just below Davisville. Food was fairly good if nothing special. Garlic naan was fresh and the kali mirch had a decent kick to it. The nachos with paneer were surprisingly good. The real reason to come though is to have a late night drink and a good time. I visited this lounge yesterday, everything was fine be it drinks and food. Ambiance is also nice. There are certain factors which may turn you down. Number one they have gratuity this is what they refer to a tip, wherein they without asking to a customer impose 18% gratuity on bill. I paid $373 and $53 have been charged without our knowledge. Worst thing ever who impose tip?. World wide it is an option to a customer. Second, they have two hour sitting policy and third they play glimpses of a song, which means 10 seconds for every single track. I've been visiting here for three years now since it's close by and I am glad they weathered the closings that others sadly didn't. It's fun, lively atmosphere with decent prices and very friendly staff like our lovely server last night, Apurva. I've seen improvements in the food we usually order - namely the vegetable momos now come with a cilantro mayo and were better than the last time. Always order the peri peri fries, yum.
