Went back for a second visit and had another great experience! Shakshouka was spicy so I would be wary of that for anyone who doesn't like that. My partner thought the burger tasted healthy, refreshing, and again very fresh. I noticed that the space was very clean again, which is surprising considering that it is a night music venue. We've happily made this our favourite local comfort food brunch spot; consistently great food, drinks, and service.

April This was my 4th time visiting here, This time i brought my friend who's never been before. Today we had the male owner as our waiter. He was friendlier and nicer this time around at least. I asked which of the ciders was the sweetest and went with that. I Had the apple and cherry cider. I was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't my favourite but didn't hate it. I would have it again if they didn't have my usual go to's. Food wise I had the Dr Pepper duck taco. The Dr Pepper duck taco consisted of hoisin braised duck, kimchi, and Dr Pepper crema. The Duck wasn't what i was used to. It was very chewy, reminded me of a sweet (but not overly sweet) flavoured beef jerky until the kimchi hit. The spice from the kimchi and then sweet from the Dr Pepper pairs well together. I'd like to taste it on beef or duck that's prepared differently. $16 for 1 taco and a cider isn't bad if your looking for a decent priced spot near Yonge and eglington.

Great decor...awesome craft drinks. However if you will open a restaurant you are going to have to feed people. The portions here are so tiny. Cauliflower wings were 9 bucks and they literally gave 3 pieces. I really wanted to like this place. Maybe to hangout and happy hour. Not to eat tho. Their mains are less then most people's appetizers.

Terrible food. We ordered two snacks and instead of plating them on two separate dishes, they put them together on a oval dish. I mean if I order 5 things, are they going to put everything on one dish. Food was mediocre at best. The taco shell was so chewy it was almost like uncooked dough. For a place that calls themselves a bar, these people cannot make drinks. asked for a "fruity" cocktail and what I ended up getting was a gin and water. I'm terms of atmosphere, I can't tell if the furniture was purchased from kelseys or where but definitely not a bar vibe at all. Will not return

Came here a few weeks ago with some colleagues after work. It can be super hard to miss with the construction going on, and the sign isn't very noticeable. You take the stairs down and you'll find yourself inside a funky looking bar, which had a lot of empty space. It was pretty dead when we got there which was about 6pm on a Friday night, but picked up a bit as the night went on. I thought their beer selection was pretty good, and enjoyed mine. We got a couple apps to share which were ok, but I felt very overpriced for what you were getting. They did have a couple games on hand which was a nice touch. However for the cost and lackluster food, i won't be returning.

The calamari kept falling apart.

Staff were friendly and I think that it's pretty cool that it's an underground bar. What I'm not too fond of are the prices - my boyfriend ordered three tacos and they ended up being teeny tiny (like smaller than the palm of my hand) and totalling $18 + tax. The calamari that I ordered kept falling apart. Overall, the food themselves tasted okay. They were good but not anything special. The food should be priced lower, given the smaller portions and quality.

Cocktails: Pineapple Mezcal Mule & Function Punchin'

A locally-owned underground speakeasy with great food and drinks! An awesome spot for hanging out and catching up! They have live music on Wednesday & Thursday nights. Came here on a Thursday night and loved the atmosphere and music vibes! Fantastic service as well.

Fun low-key night out with great performances from understated artists. Friendly servers. Don't go for the food tho.

We arrived around 3:30 pm when it was fairly occupied; they feature 'Happy Sour Hour' from 4 to 7 pm, during which all of their sour beers are reduced in price to $7.00. We ordered and shared two beers, the first a lager, the second a sour beer in order to take advantage of the discounted price. The venue is long and narrow, with two floors and a distinctive looking back patio. Our service was fairly prompt and they are located in a quite convenient location, literally across the street from the subway and the historic, flagship LCBO location. So I can recommend a visit if you're in the area and desire a drink and/or snack.

We visited on a weekday evening to celebrate my sister's birthday, and the team surprised us with a sweet birthday note waiting at our table. The restaurant has both a main floor and an upper level that can be used for private events. The vibe is elegant yet cozy, making it a lovely spot for a special night out. We tried "Yalla Per" menu which is the tasting/experience menu here, that includes cold appetizer, warn appetizer, main dish and dessert. You can also do wine or cocktail pairing at extra cost. We trued "Cold Appetizer Trio", "Kibbeh Nayeh", "Bazoog Salad", and "Mante" from the appetizers menu. For entrée, we tried "Vochkhar" and finished off with "Ashta Tart". The entrance alone sets the tone with a stunning floral walkway that feels like the prelude to a special evening. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner or celebrating a special occasion, this Yorkville spot delivers an elevated experience on every level. The ambiance is sophisticated and chic, with dim lighting, luxe finishes, and a modern yet intimate vibe that makes it perfect for a date night. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming; small details like offering complimentary champagne for our anniversary didn't go unnoticed and added a personal touch that made the night feel even more special. We started off with cocktails and got the Lychee Fizz, which is their most popular option. It lived up to the hype: light, flavourful, and incredibly refreshing. A perfect drink to ease into the evening. Appetizers kicked off with the Corn Dog & Caviar, which came as four perfectly crisp bites. The contrast of the crunchy exterior with the melted cheese, sausage, and caviar-mayo topping was indulgent and playful; elevated comfort food at its finest. For mains, we shared the Lobster Spaghetti, Grilled Sea Bass, and the Slaw. The spaghetti was packed with generous chunks of lobster, al dente pasta, and a breadcrumb-like topping that added an unexpected but welcome crunch. The sea bass was tender, flaky, and full of flavour, while the slaw - a sleeper hit - stood out with its mix of veggies, peanut sauce, and crispy wonton strips that gave it depth and texture. We ended the night with the Pandan Cake, a sizable chiffon-style cake topped with passionfruit, dark chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, and sakura dust. Admittedly, I was unsure how all those bold flavours would work together, but somehow it did! Delicate, airy, and perfectly balanced. Jade is the kind of place that impresses not just with its food and cocktails, but with its atmosphere and attention to detail. Whether you're celebrating love, a milestone, or just a night out, this Asian fusion spot in Yorkville is well worth the visit. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed stopping by Jade with my parents tonight!…read more We made a reservation on open table, although there were definitely some tables that I think would be free for walk ins. There's a nice pink flower wall in the entrance and the interior is a bit dark and cozy with velvet booths and a nice bar. We ordered oysters, kaizen toast, tofu, steak, sea bass, lobster spaghetti, and broccolini. A few thoughts: - the oysters are nice, I appreciate the tiny bits of rice that add a bit of a texture. They come with toppings already so if you're looking for just plain raw oysters, don't order these - the kaizen toast is one of their specialities. It's pretty heavy (with the foie gras and unagi) but delicious if you like all the toppings! We split between the three of us and that was the perfect amount - the steak frites were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed that the fries were truffle fries! - I would have preferred the broccolini sauce to be on the side, it was a bit heavy I also tried a lychee fizz, good, but I would probably try something else next time. Overall, a nice time especially for a nice dinner, date tonight, or celebration.

Fantastic fantastic fantastic!…read more I wish I could remember everything that we ordered, everything was so good, I could hardly remember to take any photos of my food! The couple of items that I remembered to take a photo for, we split some Wagyu, ordered a side of Broccolini, and had a fantastic frozen berry desert crisp. Everything was cooked fantastically, and we savored every bite. I thought that I would feel crowded at the restaurant, but they handle their space very well. The service was equally exquisite, we had both a waiter and an assistant that made sure that we didn't have a need in the world. I highly recommend making reservations prior to going here because they seem to be popular and certainly deserve it! I wish that I was able to visit again last month, but I had to try out other amazing restaurants in Toronto. Looking forward to returning!

My only problem is that they don't have enough lighting, so it tends to get quite dark (hence my lack of good pictures). The wait staff is accommodating, but they have forgotten to bring side dishes on two separate occasions I have visited. Also, on one occasion they started to clear a plate before we were done with it, which was annoying. The food is quite good. I particularly enjoy the bread, prawns, and mille-feuille dessert (has a nostalgic element for me as it tastes like an elevated Passion Flakie which I would have as a child). I had the lamb saddle as a main on my most recent visit which had good flavour, but was a bit too chewy. Overall, Alobar is a good choice for dinner, but has a few flaws which holds it back.
