We came here for a weekday dinner and really enjoyed the vibe, quality and taste of the food and the friendly service. The owner deeply cares about providing a great experience for the customers. I liked finding some unique dishes on the menu, that you cannot find in other Indian restaurants. We made sure to try some of them. For appetizer, we ordered "Raj Kachori", "Hakka Sizzler Noodles", "Chicken Tandoori Momos" and "Chicken Trio". Chicken pieces were juicy and tender and perfectly marinated. Raj Kachori was one of the unique menu items that we ordered and really enjoyed. For entrée, we ordered "Spiced Black Chicken", "Ghee Roast Mutton", "Lamb Briyani", "Garlic Naan", "Onion Chilli Paratha". Briyani, curry and naan are must-have at Indian restaurants. Briyani was delicious; lamb was fully cooked and perfectly marinated; we also loved the presentation and that we needed to mix the yoghurt and rice and meat on our plate before eating. Curry dishes were perfect level of spicy and delicious. We finished our meal with "Orange Blossoms" as our dessert and really enjoyed it. It wasn't too sweet and the taste of saffron had made it perfect.

Quaint little place on Queen. The service was friendly and food was fresh and delicious. Would definitely return!

On Menu - steamed rice - ask n get Jeera rice

Food 5/5 Service 6/5 Ambience 3/5 The time we visited - Sunday noon around 2 PM only customers at the time. Pics show what we ordered, forgot 2 click the buttermilk . Didn't have to wait too long 4 b4 relishing some finger licking roti n sabzi. The best part was the service, courteous n polite, than saying no, offered what is a possibility. Hence service exceeds expectation

The food here was exceptional! It's a small cozy restaurant. We got the chicken biryani, butter chicken, the paneer tikka, and garlic naan. All very delicious! A plus is that they open really late and the service was really good too.

I have been craving Kathal sabzi (Jackfruit) abd the internet heard me. I decided to pick up food from this new restaurant that opened in Queen street about 6 months ago. I got spicy Kathal Masala and Ghee Roast Mutton. My trek on a rainy day was rewarded by an excellent preparation. Both dishes were flavourful and tasty. I invite you to try Kathal aka Jackfruit. I have had dry kathal in India as opposed to the one with gravy but it is still delicious. The gentleman at counter was very friendly and has a pleasing personality. The restaurant had just opened and it has quite a bit of spacing space. I am looking forward to dining in next time with friends. Try it.

i liked the kashmiri dum aloo ($19) and garlic naan ($5), also got the butter chicken combo with 2 roti & rice ($25) but the chicken wasn't that good.

Even though they tried to kill me lol, I still like them! Let me explain. Since my companion was ordering the chicken biryani, and naan, I decided on simply getting an app. So I ordered the fried chicken. Then, as luck would have it, when she asked about drinks I ordered a mango lassi, and not realizing they had garnished the lassi with cashews I started enjoying the creamy, heavy thick drink which was delicious. Then I started feeling tingly and asked if there were nuts in my food. Yikes! As I was wondering if I should call 911 more food came out, including an order of prawns, with garlic on a sizzling plate. Amazing! I started feeling slightly better although we need to return for a less dramatic experience and to better enjoy the food, not feeling ill, and not being scared to death of dying from some silly allergy. The chef was nice enough to come out to see how I was doing which was nice of him. No licence yet for this new spot in Queen West, but that will come. The space inside has tiny little two-tops (no candles, whaaa??) and one larger family table which we snagged since those tiny tables can really only handle drink or two. The interior is quite cramped and sparse, but the food more than makes up for any lack of ambiance. With decent value, let's see how they handle the inevitable crowds, while keeping the service and presentation up, which is never easy with a fickle Toronto clientele. We were the only two customers on that Friday night in May, with them only being open a week or so, time will tell if they can keep up this delicious momentum. Cheers to another Indian spot downtown, we need them!

Amazing food and great service! We loved the Chicken Biryani and garlic naan! Best Christmas dinner ever!

Food was top quality and they cheerfully customized a dish for us. They also cheerfully accommodated our seating request.

Visiting from San Diego and this is hands down the best Indian food we have eaten. We had the butter chicken, lamb biryani, and garlic naan. Everything tasted wonderful and the portions were substantial. The owner/head chef was kind enough to refill our beverages and talk to us. Eat here and find out for yourself.

Ordered delhi butter chicken and kashmiri stuffed dum aloo. Food was great and the staff were very nice and helpful.

The food here was absolutely amazing. They tailor how spicy it is to your liking, the service was great and our server was very nice. I highly recommend this if you live in Toronto or are just visiting, you won't be disappointed

Toronto Review 11/Many: I went to this tiny Indian spot with another prior to going to the game at Rogers Center, so my meal was a bit more abridged compared to what I would normally do in an Indian restaurant. The service was fine, and it took a little while for us to sit, but soon enough we were in a nice corner overlooking the bar area downstairs. As I wasn't sure whether I'd have a beer at the stadium, I didn't bother having a drink, nor did the other person. Overall, the food was tasty and a bit more unique than a typical Indian spot. However, I didn't love the appetizer, and I found the naan just alright. Our only appetizer was the 17.99 CAD Pineapple Pakora Chaat with masala pineapple fritter chaat, lachha aloo, papdi, saffron-pineapple yogurt, mint-date chutney, and slaw. As with the rest of the dishes, the food was well presented. There was a nice mix of textures, which included crunchy, soft, and others. The best parts were the aloo and pineapple, and I wish there were more pieces of the latter. In terms of flavor, in comparison to other chaat I have had before, this was on the sweeter end for me, which made it a bit less balanced. Overall, it was good, but not great. My main dish was the very tasty Kashmiri Gushtaba for 28.99 CAD, consisting of goat meatballs slow-cooked in a rich Kashmiri white onion-cardamom gravy. The very soft meatballs were the easy highlight and my favorite part of any of the dishes I had that night, as they had a nice mélange of spices/masala. The gravy was thick and slightly buttery, with a complex blend of flavors, including, I believe, a hint of ginger and something smoky, along with the listed cardamom and other more subtle spices. This was delicious and was perfect over rice, though this isn't included and is an extra 7.99 CAD. The other person had the 26.99 CAD Dilliwala Butter Chicken, with said chicken enhanced with smoky ginger, garlic, and green chilies. The menu also has a milder option of butter chicken sans said extra flavors for a dollar less. I tried a bit of the chicken, and it was pretty tender with a little heat, but less so than my dish. The gravy was also complex, though I preferred my dish overall. They had some interesting bread options, but we stuck with a classic Garlic Naan for 6.99, which was pretty good. While lacking ghee, there was plenty of garlic flavor with some nice crispier edges. However, I found it a bit chewy compared to other spots. In terms of the number of Indian spots I've been to, I'd probably put it in the lower-middle to middle range. If I were to only rate the main dishes, I would probably leave a five-star rating. However, the appetizer was only just okay, and the naan was only decent. Also, our main dishes definitely needed rice, and that's an extra few dollars. In short, I liked the concept of the restaurant more than the execution, with this spot reminding me of a better version of Baar Baar in NYC. Excellent gushtaba, though.

I love indian food so I was excited to try the Goat Xacutti as it's something new but it ended up tasting exactly like the Chicken Tikka. And the Chicken Tikka didn't taste like what Chicken Tikka usually tastes like. They both tasted like and amalgamation of every curry all mixed together. It was flavorful, but there was no distinct flavor. The Bhel Puri was yummy, but they served us wayyyy too much for only a party of 2. The garlic naan was fine. I also ordered the sweet lassi, which was tasty. The seating was fine and they had a coat rack which was nice. Midway through the painfully slow setup process, the entire store started filling with the scent of something glorious. Rich spices, buttery warmth... it was the kind of smell that stops conversations. Everyone working there was Indian, and they were all clearly just trying to wrap up my account so they could dig into whatever just got delivered. I had to ask--where's that food from? "Kothur," they said, almost in unison. That was the recommendation, and it stuck with me. I walked by the place once. The exterior didn't scream "hidden gem." Thought about ordering delivery a few times but never followed through. Life, you know? Today, I finally went. From the outside, still nothing to write home about. But walk in, and it's a different story. Clean, cozy, and exactly the kind of no-fuss Indian spot you'd expect to stumble upon in the heart of a big city. The food? Solid. Spices landed right. Everything was warm, comforting, and satisfying. It's not trying to reinvent Indian cuisine--it's just doing it well. If you ever find yourself sniffing the air near a phone shop and wondering what that divine smell is--it might just be Kothur. TL;DR Not flashy. Surprisingly good. Smelled it before I tasted it. Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it.
