    Pumpkin Curry

Came here with a friend to try out this Indian fusion restaurant. Service was normal, not super fast but very friendly as they also take your coats for you. It was warm inside and dark, really setting a nice ambience for a date night. The food was good but not outstanding. Although it's considered an Indian fusion restaurant, some dishes (duck breast) didn't taste very Indian. We ordered the Pukka Chaat, which was flavourful and with a tiny kick of spice. We also ordered the duck breast with blueberry curry, but the curry was more of a jam in my opinion. Finally we got the pumpkin curry which was delicious but it is mildly spiced.

I've been to Pukka twice now, one time for Winterlicious back in 2018 and a second time this early autumn. Both experiences have been wonderful! Food: I honestly enjoyed all the dishes I had from Pukka. From my recent visit, the chaat is a yummy appetizer to go for when you want a refreshing mix of textures. The Boatman's Fish and Prawns and Punjabi Chicken Curry were each distinct and so flavourful. The Boatman's Fish and Prawns reminded me of a seafood bisque - the taste is different though - more of a turmeric and lemon-coconut curry base. The portion of garlic naan could have been more but did not disappoint. Service/atmosphere: The waitress who served us was patient, and gave amazing customer service that was welcoming. I hope Pukka considers opening a brunch menu at their restaurant, I still remember the pakora-eggs benedict they served when Ji (their brunch restaurant) was open back then.

I can confidently say that I was not ready for this knock out meal. My coworkers and I got a last minute call up to this meal when there were last minute cancellations which was just fine with us. Our dinner was served to us in a tasting menu style. We started off with a few different appetizers. There were sweet potato samosas with a duo of chutneys and a colourful Chaat that was piled high. There was also a spicy chili chicken app which I could only manage a few bites of due to low spice tolerance. The main course was a medley of curries with baskets of all kinds of naan - plain, whole wheat, and garlic (the tastiest one!). Of the mains, my favourite were the lamb chops that were served on a butter based sauce. The lamb itself was grilled to perfection and I didn't care how full I was - I wasn't leaving any of it on the plate. We were treated to two desserts. The first was a chili chocolate cake that was served with a scoop of raspberry sorbet. The flavours were too complex for me to appreciate. The spice was definitely there. I did really appreciate the sorbet though. The second was a pavlova topped with edible flowers and berries. This was the perfect consistency and a great way to end a super filling meal. The last thing to touch on are the beverages. I ordered a mango lass with my meali. It's served in a smaller glass for good reason. This lassi is pretty thick, almost like a smoothie but very, well, smooth! It's definitely a little filling on it's own which probably explains the smaller size. With dessert I ordered a masala chai tea. It's served in a cute lightbulb glass. Sugar was offered with it but I really liked it just as it was. Final final thing, the ambiance in the restaurant is pretty nice. It's a modern interior with huge doors that can open up onto the patio facing St Clair which helps with airflow. We went on the hottest day of the year (so far) so that really helped with comfort.

No seats were available but we were lucky enough to sit at the bar. The food was a bit pricier side, but they were very flavorful. It was easily approchable for people who are not familiar with Indian cuisine. The service was fast and servers were very friendly. The inside is quite deep and not as small as I initially thought.

Pukka is an Indian fusion restaurant that's trendy and modern. * Gunpowder prawns - delicious appetizer! * Vegetable pakoras - Everyone loves deep fried food * Punjabi chicken - A spicy chicken curry that's super flavorful! * Lamb lollipops - The lamb is amazing! Very tender! * Crispy okra fries - Can't go wrong with okra! * Stuffed paneer - Indian style cheese! Amazing vegetarian option! * Sweet plate - chocolate truffles and spiced caramel popcorn. I can't stop eating the popcorn! It's so good!

We chose this place, because they had items on the menu that could be made vegan while also satisfying the other half of our group that are meat eaters. Everything was really good. I especially enjoyed the flavors of the South Indian Vegetable Curry dish. As an appetizer, I ordered the Pukka chaat. I appreciated the option to omit the yoghurt, upon request. It's a beautifully decorated restaurant, and the service was exceptional. Very accommodating. When visiting Toronto again, returning to Pukka will be a must.

Came here for summerlicios. Walked in and everything were pretty westernized including the interior and the décor. Appetiser - The tandori smoked eggplant with roti crisp supposed to be crispy????? But our plate of roti are chewy/soggy. Beef kebabs and Vegetable Pakoras- the best out of the four that will suit everyone's taste Pukka Chaat - sweet and sour salad, very appetizing Beef brisket - tasty. Didn't really have a strong impression of this dish. Sauce was spicy, and the meat can be softer. Butter chicken - not my favorite dish, but I like the way the make it, sauce is thick and sweet Rice - Was expecting full on basmati or long grain rice, instead we got some hot and dry flavourless broken rice. Dessert - regular western style sweets Overall I think it's overpriced and I don't think I got much Indian out of it.

Walked in and was shocked to see that I was the only Indian on 20 some tables. Also it doesn't look like a typical Indian restaurant but more like neighborhood European pub restaurant. Wanted to leave as I assumed this place will serve localized Indian food. Still decided to stay and the outcome was really good :) Stellar service, ensured I had my choice of water and I was enjoying the food. Hara Kebab: 5 stars on taste. Soft from inside and crisp to perfection from outside. Dal Makhani: 5 stars, cooked to perfection Laccha Parantha: 5 stars, cooked to perfection Definitely coming back :) And I was wrong, there were few other Indiana too. Couldn't see in dark ;) as interiors are dimmed for right ambiance.

Went here for Winterlicious and I must say I was impressed! It's a small spot on St Clair W (it's sister spot Ji is just down the street). This place was pretty busy so I would recommend making reservations. It serves higher end Indian food so the prices do reflect that, but the quality is worth it. We had the chaat papri and the Chicken 65. Tthe chicken was nice and spicy and accompanied well with the chaat as this was cool and fresh. The 2 apps balanced each other out nicely. for mains we had the lamb and the curry fish. The fish was nice and flaky and soft if a beautiful cream sauce. The lamb..oh my...was a HUGE piece (think Fred Flintstone size). It was tender, falling off the bone delicious. It comes with basmati rice in a food container like jar (Indian people will know what I mean when they see the jars...lol). The desserts we choose were the dark chocolate spicy ganache. Definitely dark chocolate tasting - rich and smooth, but I couldn't really detect the spicy in here. The other dessert we had was the mango pudding. It tasted so fresh, so much like eating a ripe mango it was unbelievable. It's probably one of the best deserts I've had in a long time and it's so simple. Will definitely be back to try this place again and it's sister spot - Ji.

Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it. They gave us a whole garlic naan as it is uncut in the foil and that was very impressive! Really cool that they did that cuz most restaurants just cut it up and give it to you if you want it to go. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more. So they gave us four samosas on the house! So nice of them. Husband definitely enjoyed these.
