    Masala dosa, lamb pasantha

Delicious food, quick service. Ordered pani puri as well and had enough leftovers for lunch the next day!

Been wanting to visit a Indian restaurant with both dosa and meat dishes and found this. Loved the masala dosa which comes with two chuteny and sambar and potatoes. We also got the butter chicken and naan: the butter chicken was generous with protein but the only down side was that it wasn't as creamy- it was more tangy. The staff was knowledgeable and made sure to check in for water and other items. Food came out extremely fast as well!

Right next to Christie Pits park. Nice and convenient after lunch. Food is only 3 stars though. Ordered the chicken masala and it was a bit runny. Expensive for what you get. After tip, it was about $60 for 2 people. Was only OK.

One of the BEST spots in Toronto for dosa. I don't think I ever really had much of a taste for dosa until I came here. We started off with the chaat papri and pani puri which were super flavorful and yummy. We also ordered idli and vada, the vada especially was excellent; so freshly made and crispy. The real star of the meal however was the dosa. We ordered chili cheese masala, chili onion masala, Mysore masala, and regular masala dosa, all of which were absolutely delicious. They were warm and crispy, and remained crispy even after the dosas were out and had cooled for a bit. The sambar and chutneys were delicious as well. The chili cheese dosa definitely had some spice to it, so be careful if you cannot handle your spice that well. One of the downsides was that the service was slightly slow. We also ordered the Gulab jamun for dessert, which is normally one of my favourites, however I was not a fan of this one. I was prepackaged, cold and slightly hard. I would recommend getting dessert elsewhere. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, and will go back anytime I am craving dosa!

Located at the western edge of Christie Pits and Bloor Street West, MADRAS MASALA serves Veg & Non veg dishes with its Huuuge Dosas being their delicious signature offering such as this pictured RAVA DOSA - Cream of Wheat & Rice crepe stuffed with Potatoes and Onions, served with Sambar & 3 types of Chutney. Service is courteous and efficient with decently priced food. Finger Licking Good!

Came here for a dinner and the food was good, especially for the area not having other such authentic options for Dosas and South Indian food. I had the rasam which was spicy and hot, vadas which seemed re heated, uthappam was not the type I was used to. The mysore masala Dosa was my favourite.

I was looking for a south indian place that makes authentic dosa, idly and sambar. Glad I found it! Love the patio, easy parking and the park nearby. Will definitely come again! Just the patio table can be improved a bit. Our table slightly too close to park fence and hence some buggy friends wandering around.

My very first experience with authentic South Indian cuisine and I absolutely loved it! My boyfriend and I were wandering around the area to find a place for brunch but we ended up here, and I guess why not? The place is tiny yet cozy. The staff was quick assigning seats for us. He was very nice and helpful. We ordered dosa and papri chaat. I was told that these dishes are one of the most popular street food in South India. The food came out late but they were warm and nice. Papri Chaat came out first with cilantro (hari) chutney. Indian tacos? Anyways, it is little crisp round spiced crackers, layered with spices, chickpeas and drizzled with yogurt. And the sweet, tangy and savory taste made me fall in love with this dish right away. I think I'm ready to try other "chaats" haha. We ordered 2 different dosas and I was surprised of how big they are. Each dosa came with different types of chutneys: coconut chutney, tomato coconut chutney, and sambar. They all tasted amazing! The cheese dosa was a bit salty though. They were all perfectly crispy and delicious. My first impression with real Indian cuisine was marvelous! I was impressed with the food and the staff here !! One of those hole in the walls where the food is pretty authentic (according to the boyfriend). But I will definitely come back to this restaurant to try out other dishes when I'm around this area.

I put my bike glove there so you can get perspective on the size. It's a large dosa

Haven't been here in awhile but was craving Indian food. I got the coriander potatoe dosa. Good: good size, sambar nice Bad: the filling is bit mushier not too many chunks of potatoes. I'm used to getting the coriander mixed with my potato but the coriander was like thin paste put on my dosa itself. The unfortunate result was not crispy edges. the dosa was still tasty to eat Sambar: I liked it. Was mild so if you want Indian hot, this is not the place. It taste homemade. But if you want an extra side of it as I found it wasn't enough, you are charged for it $1 but I've been places where it's no extra charge. Overall decent place for dosas. Can't say it's my favourite but it will do in a pinch

Dosa and spicy chai is the world's best combination on a cold breezy day. Madras Masala is as good as dosa gets (at least before I visit a dosa street vendor in South India). If Yogi Bear lives in Christie Pits, instead of "pic-a-nic baskets", he would be at Madras Masala, devouring gigantic dosas! My friends and I shared the cheese mysore masala dosa, paper masala dose, and rava dosa at Madras Masala! Each dosa came with coconut chutney, tomato coconut chutney and sambar. The cooling sensation of coconut chutney complimented the warming spices perfectly. The SPL rava dosa ($10.99) is embedded with crispy caramelized onions in the batter of semolina and rice flour. The sweetness from onion balanced the savoriness of the potato masala. The crunchy exterior juxtapose the soft interior. The cheese mysore masala dosa ($10.99) resembles grilled cheese, expect this Indian grilled cheese is stuffed with masala potatoes and onions. If potatoes and grilled cheese had a love child in India, it would be cheese mysore masala dosa! The paper masala dosa ($11.99) stuffed with potato masala, is the size of my torso! That dish alone is enough to feed a small army! Typically, the aromatic potato is mixed with 10 to 12 different herbs and spices! The complex flavors oscillate between sweet and savory; spicy and fresh, pungent and fragrant. Dosa is an interplay of earth's bounty. Dosa is the synthesis of divinity!

I have been on a quest for the last year to find a good Dosa place! I think my quest has come to an end! Last night my boyfriend and I came here to try out the place. First off, I was off work late so we arrived with literally 40 minutes left and they didn't turn us away, even though we were there way after closing still eating. We ordered the Chicken 65 for an appetizer. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It would of been a lot better if they were actual chicken pieces, they were like chicken bites in a way. Little rolls of chicken perhaps? My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Dosa and I ordered the Masala Dosa. When they came out my boyfriend was in disbelief with how huge his chicken dosa was. He liked his Dosa so much and for once he couldn't finish his food! Luckily, he has leftovers for the next day because it was so good! For myself, the Masala dosa was amazing! Right amount of potatoes and onions and that tomato chutney is my favourite! I finished all mine! (Curious what that says about me? Hahaha) I will definitely be back again! This will be my new place for sure! The only reason for the four star is, it was a little slow getting the drinks back out when we ordered them again. Other then that amazing!

It's a cozy little spot for dosa. This is my first time trying does, it was a interesting texture. The service was very friendly and the waitress gave us some suggestions. Food came rather slowly, but hopefully that means it's just made. Price was low, if you are curious to try some southern Indian food, this is a convenient place.

Enjoyed the hyderabad dum biryani with mutton. The mutton was very tender and the biryani was cooked well! Also had the special rava masala dosa which was good, and the fish dosa. I didn't like the fish in the fish dosa - it tasted super fishy. The dosa itself was still tasty though, dipped in all the different sauce options!

Monster size mysore masala dosa - filled with yummy potato filling!

Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it. They gave us a whole garlic naan as it is uncut in the foil and that was very impressive! Really cool that they did that cuz most restaurants just cut it up and give it to you if you want it to go. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more.
