Visited Indian Desire for dinner recently and I was very impressed with the food - on par with flavours from India. Here's everything we tried - Smoked Chicken Tikka - excellent presentation and the chicken was tender and flavourful Ram Laddoo - a snack from north india that is not easily available in toronto. This was such a surprise. Chicken Changezi - delicious chicken gravy Black Daal - rich, aromatic and full of flavour. Tasted even better the next day Za'atar Naan and Garlic Naan - The za'atar naan was such a revelation. Not authentically Indian, but fusion at it's best. I'd return just for this. Dessert Desire: Trio of Tiramisu Kulfi, Mango Sorbet, Gulab Jamun on a Chocolate Nest - the perfect way to end your meal. The mango tastes authentic and not like a store bought pulp. Portion sizes are generous too. Indian Desire is a gem! read more

Some of the best Indian food I've had anywhere!!! Really a fantastic find. We had a really wonderful birthday party here and enjoyed seven different vegetarian dishes, each of them totally delicious, and wonderfully flavourful. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. read more

We're rom the East Coast U.S., and based on Yelp reviews, just had to try this place on our Toronto visit. Glad we did...best Indian we've had in anywhere! Light, crispy and tasty papadum appetizer. Buttery naan was soft, hot and delicious. Parmesan tikka masala appetizer was not in gravy but was tender, juicy and delicious flavor. Butter chicken entree was very tasty. coconut prawns entree was the right spice level (can go up or down in spiciness depending upon your preference) and both plentiful and delicious. The owners and service were excellent and friendly. We enjoyed a chat about the experience and they even made sure my daughter was enjoying her meal (she was, despite her somewhat pickiness). HIGHKY RECOMMEND Indian Desire...you won't be disappointed! read more

Amazing food. I couldn't take too many pictures as we were hungry but the kids cheese naan and gravy was the best. Also the mirchi naan, never had it before but was recommended and turned out to be really nice. Would definitely come back again. read more

Food was great! Music was good, and service was friendly. A new favourite for our family.

Went on a whim in the afternoon so I was in time for their lunch menu. I opted for the rice bowl with butter chicken, which also comes with a soft drink. To start, I opted for the samosa. This is no ordinary samosa! It's served sliced and has yoghurt & chutney/chaat. It's bursting with flavour & texture. The rice bowl, was just that, fluffy portion of basmati rice with the other half of plate taken up by creamy butter chicken. If you like a lot of tomato flavour, you'll like this one. I ordered the butter naan which did not disappoint. The discs of naan were cut & it was fluffy & airy but still had a bit of a chewy texture which was nice... glistening with butter. Will come back with friends so we can share a variety of dishes. They put a unique spin on dishes with a lot of attention to spice & flavours! read more

I was absolutely impressed by the food at this place. Very thing I ordered was astounding except for the Manchurian Momos (They tasted horrible). I would highly recommend you try Ram Ladoo here, they are absolutely amazing. So we're the Chicken Parm Malai Kebab and the Malai Soye ke Tinke (Chaap) For Mains we ordered Kadhai Chicken with Za'taar Naan (the absolute heavenly tasting naan I have ever had). The chicken was great but the naan was hevanly with all the aromas and a very mouth melting feeling. We also tried the Dal Makhni here which was okay as well. For deserts we had Moong Dal Halwa and it's was delightful as well. Also the service was fast so additional cookie point for that read more

Could not reccomend this place enough. I never write reviews on yelp, but this was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. Dreaming of my next visit. Truly a 5 star spot. read more

Service was disappointing. They were nice but entrees took a long time. Nan was good. Lamb appetizer too. But entrees were lacking heat and depth. A bit too sweet. read more

I had the Mutton lunch special which tasted good. But had very little mutton. Also ordered Amrtisari kulcha with chana. Chana not good at all. Will try more next time. read more

Excellent food and exceptional service. Started with the Palak ki Chat which was delicious! Full of flavour and just the right amount of spices and crispiness. Followed that with the Goan lamb vindaloo and Dhabha Style chicken curry which was one of the best curries I have ever had. Everything was fantastic with only one exception ... 2 fountain drinks were $9.98 - very overpriced for a fountain drink served in a mason jar. Next time I'll stick to water, but will return for sure to this place. read more

Wow, we were referred by our waiter at a French restaurant And it did not disappoint! We had lamb and chicken dishes that were very tasty. The restaurant soon filled with local Indian clients, always a good sign. We were very happy. Also, a very sweet waitress read more

If you're ever in the Annex, do yourself a favour and grab Indian Desire's spinach pakora chaat. It's the most delicious, mind blowing thing I've had all year. I love my chaat and find many of the ones I order only so-so. So, when the server suggested a friend and I try their chaat, I didn't really have high expectations, but was I ever wrong! First off, the pakora is so fresh and crispy, it's essentially like spinach chips. The flavours combinations are also out of this world because of the ingredients they use, I mean, this chaat actually had pomegranate seeds in it! Hands down the fanciest chaat I've ever had. As for my main, I decided on a vegetarian paneer curry and it was also very tasty, with a good spice level and as expected, very delicious with sides of naan and rice. Lastly, the service here was amazing, there was 1 server and a hostess and both checked in on us regularly to make sure we were content and had plenty of water. Looking forward to sharing more spinach pakora chaat with friends here in the near future! read more

Never bribe someone with Indian food. Indian Desire is a new restaurant located in downtown Toronto offering artistic takes on traditional, authentic Indian dishes. Their food is best paired with some delicious cocktails or an assortment of wines and beers. and this is what I tried: ⁣ * Delhi Style Tandoori Chicken The traditional tandoori chicken comes in a pomegranate and leaf salad. It is served with Mint and Coriander Chutney. * Corn Kurkure Crispy baby corn tossed with assorted pepper and, chillies. * Marwari Bhindi The Starry-eyed okra is cooked together with onion & tomato, topped with black & white sesame. * Chicken Tikka Masala Broiled Chicken teams up with tikka masala and marinated in yogurt in a creamy, spice-infused tomato sauce. * Za'atar Naan Za'atar is a Middle Eastern spice made from a blend of sesame seeds, thyme, salt and dried sumac. The naan is soft in the middle, crunchy around the edges. * Gulab Jamun It was stuffed with gulkand (rose petals and honey) filling was so authentic that it reminded me of the ones I had back in India. Have been here for takeout twice. First time was a year or two ago. Was jonesing for karahi gosht (LAMB) but it wasn't on the menu. Asked him if they could make it, said yes, so I took it back to school for lunch (I work at Central Tech). It was terrible, didn't taste remotely like karahi, and wasn't even good as something non-karahi. I'm guessing waiter saw a white guy and figured I wouldn't know karahi from butter chicken, and just gave me whatever. Was very disappointed. Didn't go back until last week. Surprise, they have chicken karahi lazardaar on the menu now, but don't know what 'lazardaar' is (never seen the word before) so figure I won't take the risk. Ordered madras chicken and took it back to work. It wasn't terrible (like the karahi) but was quite mediocre, rice was undercooked and it was $30.00. Can't recommend the place at all. Don't even bother. read more

Beautifully presented and prepared fusion Indian cuisine and cocktails. Highly recommend trying a few of the signature drinks, made lovingly by the gracious and friendly host/owner. The food itself was good but the fusion approach left us a little curious. I wish we'd try more of their traditional items (we had the dumplings-good but probably better Asian dumplings in Toronto; lamb chops - again, tasty but not particularly Indian; shrimp - a bit overbooked; and dal - a LOT of butter but nice and creamy). The service was amazing. Overall, a nice change of pace if you want to get non traditional Indian and the decor is nice but other Indian places may have more traditional dishes read more

Good food, awesome service and atmosphere... definitely recommend this place for small parties and large.

Tried out Indian Desire for a weeknight dinner and was really impressed with their high quality food. We got the Tawe ka Latapata paneer and the biryani to try out. The portion sizes were large and the food was very rich in flavour and spice. Even though we did pickup, the food stayed piping hot all the way home. The biryani came with raita on the side which went perfectly with it. The paneer dish is a good option for those that find Indian food heavy, this one didn't seem to have any cream in it making for a lighter option. I definitely want to try out more dishes from here in the future! I noticed they also have a Hakka menu so I'll check that out next time. I recommend ordering directly from the restaurant as the owners offer additional discounts if you skip the delivery apps. read more

Great tasting Indian food , great atmosphere and people . What more can you ask for from a restaurant . The service was excellent , they were there when needed and answered any questions we had . The food was filled with flavour and just writing this review my mouth is watering thinking of it . I do eat a fair share of Indian food and this ranks up there with the best of them in the GTA . They did not have one of my favourite appetizers but that's fine cause what they offer on the menu was a great substitute . Do yourself a favour and give this place a shot if your in the city looking for Indian food . read more

This place was spectacular. From the moment we got here, the server was very courteous and walked us through the menu options. We ended up getting the lamb pieces for appetizer, followed by Biryani and a chili Lamb dish. The food presentation was also great, as it came in a traditional pot and a cool ceramic plate. I highly recommend this place to any Indian food lover! read more

Cute little place in the Annex with truly delicious Indian food! We shared the pistachio-crusted lamb chops, sabz foogath (mixed vegetable curry), and jeera rice. Everything was excellent but the lamp chops were over-the-top good. Highly recommend! read more

I've only tried one lunch special, Mutton Tak a Tak, but I was impressed by the quality of the food. Tender chunks of mutton in a lightly spiced sauce. Very flavourful without being overpowering. It came with a small salad! I ate in the restaurant. It is more classy than the usual cheap and cheerful Annex student restaurant. No buffet. Just high quality food. I hope they survive the pandemic restrictions. It is a nice addition to the neighbourhood. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while in Toronto for vacation- the food is amazing!! Loved their curry & naan! Definitely recommend this place! read more

Not sure if In person is good or not, but if you get your food delivered then the food quantity is not the same. Its just not justified to pay 18 20 bucks for so less quantity. They need to keep a check on quantity for the price they are asking. food is good no complaints but again quantity not at all justified with the amount you are spending. read more

Very delicious unique Indian food in The Annex. A very diverse menu with dishes from different regions of India. My favourite dishes are the ones that are actual street foods in the the various regions. My personal favourites are the Ram Ladoo with Mircha (Delhi street food), Highway Paneer Butter Masala (Northern Indian), Kadai Chicken Lazzatdaar (Northern Indian), & Dhabha style Chicken Curry (Punjabi street food), along with their Naans & Rotis. Portions are typical but it's the quality & freshness of the ingredients that blew my mind. Will be trying the lamb dishes next time, but definitely be trying the entire menu! read more

This restaurant offers some Indian dishes from various parts of Indian as well as new riffs on Indian standards that come from this kitchen exclusively. Lots of items we had never seen before, and the food is excellent! Every dish we ordered (4 mains, 2 veggie -- a paneer kofta and an eggplant dish, one chicken, one lamb with rice and naan), was extraordinary! The staff we spoke with was very patient in his explanations of the menu, and open in his recommendations. The place is amazing! My new favourite. read more
