This was rare trek for this cuisine for dine in. I tend to order delivery as I feel this type of food travels fine. The setup is OK and they seem to be focused on the delivery aspects as well with one order after another getting picked up for delivery. We ordered the momos which were forgetable. The Papadum are what one expects I suppose with the chutney being really good. Good start. The malai tikka and naan and roti were pretty good. Butter chicken hmmm we were told that this version is sweeter so we can adjust the spice. The person I dined with can't handle spice much so stuck to the mild version. Nothing special and I personally don't enjoy sweet curries I have learned. House lager is servicable. 3-3.5 stars as there isn't much like this in this area.

Everything about Cumin Kitchen is amazing. From the friendly staff to the amazing dishes. As soon as you enter the restaurant you can sense two different types of aesthetics. The first, is the front of the store which is a bit darker than the back. A more romantic setting. Also, in the front there is a bar. In the back there is more lighting and vibrant colours. From the curtains made from colourful sarees to the beautiful pillows and yellow barn door. The space does not lack energy. The staff are amazing and they really go out of their way to ensure a great dining experience. Also, I can't miss the complimentary papadum with mango chutney. The food was delicious, with a lot of different items on the menu. Each item was packed with different flavours. My favourites were the tandoori mushroom and vegetable biryani. The entire menu was fairly priced. Last, please do not debate on getting the Mango Lassi. It is a must. The only debate should be if you want two or not.

I went to Makkah on the Danforth for tandoori this morning @11:45 am . But was rudely ignored, no one acknowledged I stood there for 10 minutes so I moved on. Searched where to get it (tandoori) on the Danforth. Cumin came up in my search. So glad it did. Order : Half tandoori chicken: it's so good. Spices are subtle but perfect. The chicken wasn't over cooked. Comes with this beet salad, lemon wedges and chutney. 5/5 Butter Chicken: not spicy at all. Good dish for those challenged with that. The chicken was so tender. The gravy (curry) was tomato goodness. You will love it. Portion size is better then most Indian restaurants. 5/5 Veggie Biryani: it was ok. The rice was a bit clumpy. The carrots were a turn off. Biryanis are usually fluffy with all grains accounted for. Tasty enough. Small Raita with it. 3/5 Lamb Kabobs: You get 4 in dish. Spices were spot on. A bit over done, just a bit. You will still love it. Not as juicy as it could be. Served with chutneys that are amazing. 4/5 2xNaan. 5/5. Very tasty. Complimentary papadums. Crispy ! 5/5 Prices online are wrong on their website. They are $3-$4 more. Be warned. Will definitely go again. The interior is so pretty. Will include pics of that. $95 including tax and tip for above. Served 4 people no problem.

The most delicious, welcoming, and ambient Indian restaurant on the block! My family and I are staying in Toronto for the week and we were looking for something to eat on a rainy Friday afternoon. We found Cumin on some food blog online and decided to give it a try - and were not disappointed! We came in right after opening (noon) and the restaurant was empty, but throughout the course of our meal two or three parties came and went. Owner explained that the place gets crowded around dinner time on the weekdays and during lunchtime on the weekends. Immediately after being seated, the owner himself (incredibly friendly!) came to greet us and chat with us about our stay in Toronto, and personally took our orders for the table. Between 6 people, we each ordered one entrée and two appetizers which was just a bit too much for us all to finish - but it was great to try a bit of everything. Throughout our meal, the owner came to chat with us and we made great conversation about the food and our trip. We were able to customize the spice level for each of our dishes according to our tastes, and honestly everything turned out great and was super tasty. Probably one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to! The place itself is well decorated, tastefully modern and very clean. Definitely recommend if you're around the Danforth area and are looking for a hot lunch and a bit of good conversation!

Lovely presentation and carefully prepared dishes. Service was friendly and manager also came over to ask us about our visit. We had the salmon tandoori (fish was well seasoned and NOT dry like most places are), baigan Bartha, garlic naan, veggie biryani and aloo paratha. Highly recommend the salmon and it was the standout dish for me. The rest were solid but kinda standard. The biryani looked appetizing but wasnt a home run in terms of spice and texture. Likely because I've never cared for carrot chunks in my rice. I'm a huge biryani fan and often go to Indian restaurants just for the rice but that is not the case here. I really liked the mango chutney that came with the papadum. I look forward to trying other dishes when I return.

Chicken Korma (heavenly)

I am no expert in Indian food, yet the curry here was overwhelmingly delicious, creamy, rich and complex in flavour. I could tell the curry was slow cooked for hours. The garlic naan was fresh and flavourful. The portion was more generous than many Indian restaurants I have patronized. The services was effective, efficient, welcoming. We told the manager it was our first time here, so he explained the menu and offered advices. He checked on us a few times. Yes, he did upsell the dessert, but hey the Kheer was nice and delicately sweet. The chef showed restrints in not over sweetening it to retain authencity. The venue was tastefully decorated. Cumin is a rare blend of welcoming, cozy, fine dining experience.

Veggie momos

Ordered delivery from here since they had a deal going. We tried the butter chicken, which was on the milder side but nice and flavourful - not too sweet either. The veggie momos were decent, served with a homemade sesame sauce and a hot sauce which had plenty of kick. Overall I'd say it's a solid spot worth trying.

The best Indian restaurant that I have visited so far.. from interiors to the menu. Food to the service.. everything was so perfect in here! A great add to the neighbourhood- the look of this place will blow your mind not just with eyes but also your mouth with full of goodness! Chicken 65 was hands down the best I have had so far in my 9 years of living in Canada.. thank you for taking me back to India. The customer service was way beyond expectations and thoroughly enjoyed the whole time we were there! If you are in dilemma on what to eat, the bread butter basket is a must try as it contains different bread types and goes well with any gravy curry. I am definitely going back here for another feast.

Cumin Kitchen is a new-age (locally sourced products etc) yet traditional Indian restaurant on what seemed like a long street full of restaurants and local businesses. We had just gotten through US Canada border and we're rushing to make our reservation and we got in the restaurant around 30 mins before their closing time. I was extremely apologetic to the staff and owner but they greeted me kindly and graciously served us with the fresh, warm Indian Punjabi meal. Nothing felt out of place or rushed and they didn't let us feel embarrassed either. It's priced pretty reasonably considering what they offer and especially for the service they offer. Great stuff, I'd definitely recommend if you're looking to try hearty, warm Indian meal with surprise rotational chef's specials as well.

Fresh Naan Bread

We went here approx one week after they opened. I'll say this first - we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, and really fresh. I especially enjoyed the in house freshly made naan bread. We also had rice with our dishes. My wife had the Alooo Gobi and I had the Chicken Korma. Both were quite spicy - and the spice eventually dissipated - and I'm not a huge spice lover but I really really enjoyed my dish. It was very good. The staff were incredibly friendly, and they worked feverishly to serve the relentless onslaught of people which did cause service to be quite slow. I mean service was really really slow. There were too many people. Lol. I hope for them, that they continue to do this well and become more organized as they progress in their new business adventure. It's great to have an authentic Indian cuisine restaurant in the neighbourhood. I'll definitely be back with my wife.
