Table settings and atmosphere are IMHO nicer than Tandoori Flame with nice table linens etc. the buffet itself was very good with meaty curries, vindaloos, and such. They give you a complimentary snack, in a form of potato sticks (not entirely sure what it was). To start: - Samosa 10/10 They were huge! Perfectly fried and stuffed with spiced potatoes and green peas. Came with a green and red chutney. Green chutney was refreshing while the red chutney was sweet and spicy! - Pani Puri Shots 10/10 Great presentation on this, shots of green mint and tamarind water, topped with mini poori with chickpeas and potatoes. Loved the way they served this as a shot, it was packed with flavour and exploded with the refreshing mind and tamarind water in the mouth once you ate it. Mains: - Butter chicken 8/10 Was buttery and smooth in texture and loaded with chicken. It definitely was lacking something in the flavour that I couldn't pin point, but still a great easy option for anyone that doesn't like too much spice. - Garlic naan 10/10 Huge! And can't go wrong with this to pair with your butter chicken. - Goat curry 9/10 Packed with delicious spices and had a huge kick of heat to it, so be aware! It's a young goat dish slowly simmered in a rich Indian gravy/ curry. Highly recommend to eat this with some rice. Can't wait to come back when I'm having that Indian food craving! The newly renovated interior itself is a winner!

Ironically since this is a South Indian place, the butter chicken was the best curry (though the chicken pieces seemed to be yesterday's Tandoori chicken & were on the dry/tough/bony & non meaty side). There was one seafood item (fish curry). Nothing was labelled & they put desserts beside food items, so sweet rice porridge was beside 2 spicy soups & deep fried bananas were beside Tandoori chicken. This led to some surprising mouthfuls. Nothing was labelled & they put desserts beside food items, so sweet rice porridge was beside 2 spicy soups & deep fried bananas were beside Tandoori chicken. This led to some surprising mouthfuls. Dosa (served to the table) was thin & crispy but tasted a bit burnt & the fermented lentil taste was not as good as usual. Parotta was really good - thin, flaky & crispy. Even when old it was still pretty good.  The fried bananas were good with sweet bananas & thin batter. Fruit cocktail was just canned fruit in diluted mango puree.

I wouldn't recommend it for hardcore biriyani fans, as there's some sweetness to it and doesn't really feel like the authentic biriyani. There are many options to choose from, but chicken tikka biriyani is for those who can't take the biriyani spice, I'd say.

**South India on a Plate, No Flight Needed**…read more Came here as a student at York University, and it's been my all-time favorite South Indian spot ever since. Whether it's breakfast, brunch, or lunch, this place delivers the kind of authentic flavors that instantly transport you to South India. The food here is consistently amazing. My go-to is always the Mysore Masala Dosa and the vegetarian Parontha, but if I'm dining with a partner, I never miss the Vada Sambhar plate, with its two medu vadas and two idlis. Every bite hits that perfect balance of spice, texture, and comfort that makes you forget everything else. The atmosphere adds to the charm -- the walls are lined with large posters of South Indian stars and legends, and the music playing in the background completes the cozy, immersive vibe. It's the kind of place that feels both lively and relaxed at the same time. Service can be a bit slow, likely because they're a little understaffed, and there's often a fair wait during weekends or peak hours. Delivery through Uber Eats is an option, but in-person is where the experience really shines. Despite the wait, once the food arrives, all minor complaints disappear. If there's room for improvement, a slightly larger team on busy days could help speed up service and make the experience smoother for everyone. All in all, this is a spot I'll always return to -- it's perfect for anyone craving authentic South Indian flavors in a comfortable, welcoming setting.

The place was active and busy early on in the morning. I like how there was some care and attention given into decorating the place. There are some hanged cultural decors and displays found inside to give that sense of authenticity and cultural immersion. Me and my friends were able to sample a variety of meals. There was an order of plain rava dosa and mint masala dosa. The dosa came with 3 different dips or sauces. I have nothing bad to say about how they taste. I was with a couple of friends hailing from South India and it was such a treat that we ordered the Madras Filter Coffee ($2.99) from the menu, and they showed me how to properly mix and stir the coffee. Overall, it was a good, memorable meal. I will consider this place next time I want some authentic Indian dining experience.
