    Mango Milk shake nice!

Went here for Christmas dinner and had a wonderful time with our group. But I had to wait forever and a day to see a waiter, so I took the order for my party. And separated the tables, and gave them separate sheets so they would be able to deliver the appropriate dishes to each table. But they failed miserably, and this continued through the dinner. The main dishes were delicious, and I would go for a small dinner or two to four people, but I probably would not do a party here ever again. The dosa was excellent and I would make the 45 minute trip here to get the dosa special again!

Last summer, I visited Karaikudi for a nice home comfort meal. Upon arrival, my friend and I were welcomed with open arms by the friendly staff. We heard many great things about the quality of Karaikudi and they lived up to it. We went with a standard order of Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, and Chicken Briyani and it was the best meal I had in a while. The Butter Chicken had the right amount of spice in the gravy to complement the tender chicken meat that can be enjoyed with a piece of freshly tandoor-baked naan or with a bite of briyani. The Chicken Briyani had lots of aromatics to add a hint of spice for every spoonful bite. The overall portions were fair to the price we paid which was nice! I definitely need to try their dosa next time as we saw many tables have an order of it!

It was my first time at Karaikudi Chettinad Indian Restaurant. I don't eat Indian food often so I'm not an expert about their food. However, I'm impressed with their Fish Biryani and Chicken 65. I've had Biryani, time to time, at other Indian restaurants but I've never had fish biryani before. Their Fish Biryani came with a small fish curry gravy, raitha and an egg. I liked their curry gravy. My husband said he could tell right away it contained some fish sauce. I love fishy stuff! Their Chicken 65 was the best part of the meal. I saw many good reviews about their Chicken 65 and Chettinad Chicken Roast. I was debating what to choose in the beginning. I then asked our server what the most popular item at the restaurant was and she told me that it was "Chicken 65". Such a good choice! The chicken was filled with Indian spices. Spicy and flavourful! It came with a hot sauce on the side. My husband really loved the hot sauce. It was spicy but so good at the same time. We also had Chicken Khotu Roti. It came with chicken curry gravy and raitha on the side. The curry gravy was ok but the fish curry gravy that came with biryani was better and the portion was a bit larger than the chicken curry gravy. The restaurant is spacious. It's good for large groups. There's a parking lot in front of the restaurant too. Moreover, they offer a 15% discount if you pay with cash. They have a wide selection of vegetarian food. It's worth checking out! Chicken 65 (5/5) Fish Biryani (4/5) Chicken Khotu Roti (3.5/5) Masala Chai (4/5) Price (4/5) Ambiance (4/5) Service (4/5)

We had been here today for the first time even though have been hearing good about this restaurant for years. Celebrating my birthday this year with our traditional authentic style food I hoped. Well, it was authentic indeed. The taste matched back home taste, so I was indeed happy to have travelled an hour to go to this place! We were a group of four and ordered Schezwan chicken dry, pepper chicken dry, chicken briyani, schezwan chicken fried rice, chettinadu chicken gravy and mango milkshakes for the family. All the items were met my expectations, but found the briyani to be a little less flavourful for my acquired taste. The place was jam packed. We were waiting for 15 mins but nevertheless it was worth the wait and travel. Last but not least we had the sweet beeda. Oh, they were huge and tasty. Don't miss this gem if you are around the area , or uk what, just go n eat only for this place ! It's worth it!

I went here once for their buffet as a kid and wasn't a fan but thought I would give it another chance now. Price Range (Not Including Tax & Tip) : $8-$15 per entree. For a Tamil/Indian place I would see it's a bit pricer than I expected. Food Quality (Taste, Portion, Menu) - 2/5 We had the Paper Dosa, Veggie Kothu Roti, Mango Lassi and Garlic Naan. I wasn't a fan of the food at all besides the Mutter Paneer and Naan. The Kothu Roti had no flavour and didn't have many roti pieces. I found the dosa to be too grainy compared to other places I've had it at. The dosa was more of a novelty as it was huge! I liked the Naan a lot and found the paneer alright. I loved the Mango Lassi, this was the best part of the meal. They have a pretty big menu, a lot of options both veggie and meat. The portions for weren't as big as I expected, I'd say it was on the smaller side. Atmosphere - 4/5 It has an Indian palace vibe which I really liked. The places was well decorated and it looked very picturesque. They have a lot of seats as it is a fairly big place, so it works well for any size of group. They have their own parking lot so it's really easy to find a parking spot. Service - 5/5 The staff was really nice and courteous. They were very prompt in taking our order, checking that the meal was okay and refilling our water. The food came out pretty quick and came out together as well. Would I go again? Maybe 1 more try? For the most part I don't think I would go again. Theres a bunch of other places that I prefer. Lash's Recommendations Mango Lassi - The consistency and flavour is amazing. It's pretty filling too! Garlic Naan - Perfect compliment for any of the curry dishes.

I come here very often because of the delicious Butter Chicken and Fresh Naan, and the normally great service. Recently the dinner service here is a bit slow and disorganized. Seems a bit understaffed on the floor, but a couple newer servers are disorganized and perhaps better suited in non customer facing jobs. At least not the service field. I came for dinner with a friend...twice... Praising this place on great food and service. But was disappointed he didn't get to witness that. Our entrées were brought to the table 20 mins apart - so he ate cold food once mine finally arrived. Both times lol (not funny tho) An item we ordered never arrived at all, but wasn't billed so we didn't bother mentioning when we paid. New server squirted water on our food while spraying an empty table beside ours. And each time we inquired on our missing food items - she would ask "oh did you order it". Ummm NO, we sent telepathic messages to the food and hoped it would come on its own!!! REALLY? But she never offered TO CHECK ON THE ITEM FOR US ...hellloooooo geeez Finally mentioned to a manager (owner?) who was going to check, until the cashier said she would...but then she never did. [Scratches head!] I still love this place and hope they work out the training issues with floor staff. They do have a couple really terrific servers - who work their butts off, try to spot them and sit in their area if u eat here in the near future Hope mgt reads this and improves the weak areas. Because I love the food. Update: Went for lunch buffet today with colleagues and the service was so much faster. I wish it were as quick for dinner, and that the buffet were available evenings. Our group of 10+ colleagues vote for buffet at dinner service too

Their prices are a bit steep for the food provided; you're paying for the environment. It is a clean and comfortable restaurant - not a hole in the wall. My egg dosa was $11.99 - It has nothing but an egg inside and it comes with chutneys. The dosa is very big, but it's just a thin batter. They're making a killing off of this. Chicken lollipops - Barely any meat on the leg and very dry. Pass on this one. Idli - It is a steamed rice patty that comes with the same chutneys as the dosa. They are definitely making a fortune off of this dish. Nothing special on this one. Go early, otherwise this restaurant fills up as the night goes one. Service slowed down significantly once the restaurant fills up.

Me and the fam came here today, so I'm giving it 4 stars cause in my opinion all the food was good. The one thing I found was that we ordered 3 curries and all had the same sort of flavour profile, as if they all had the same sauce. They were mushroom masala, egg curry, and Chana. Now don't get me wrong they all tasted good but the same. The dosas are good and the cauliflower 65 and onion pakora are great too. For a nice finish try the traditional coffee!

Food and service was good. The only thing is they could have advised the size of the paper masala dosa, yes it says extra large but for a first timer, It was shockingly large more than 3 feet long and about 6 inches in diameter. I thought they serve me a barrel of a canon by mistake. It could not fit on the single table. I don't know how to start..Lol..busy restaurant. Lots of parking. Very and courteous staff. Fast service.

One of my favourite place to grab Indian food. I fell in love with this place years ago because their butter chicken is incredibly buttery and their lamb briyani is delicious but what I do not like is their prices. I find them a lot more expensive than other places (~$13.99 for a small bowl of butter chicken). Their naan bread gets pretty pricey as well (an additional $0.50 for butter naan). Although the people who work there are nice, I find them usually short staffed even during busy hours. They have a loyalty program to collect point using your phone number which then can be redeemable for credit at the restaurant which is nice.

The food was exquisite!! Biriyani was a little spicy but just perfect. Paper Masala was literally 3ft long . It was delicious and so good. There was so much portion that in the end you would feel tired of chewing, but trust me it's really worthwhile. We also ordered Parotta and butter chicken and Paneer. That was also quite delicious. If you are really looking for Good Indian food, this is one must have on the list!!

Scared off by the prices. Might be good (or great). Definitely authentic. We were the only non Indians there.

Social media had done its work, flooding my feed with the golden bowls of appa from Colombo street stalls and rooftop eateries across the island. The question was whether this unassuming Scarborough plaza outpost could answer that call. It could, and it did. Hopper Hut occupies a modest space tucked into a nondescript strip mall on Ellesmere Road -- a setting that makes no architectural promises and need not. The dining room at the back is functional and warmly utilitarian, evoking the no-frills confidence of a kitchen that trusts its food entirely. The atmosphere is decidedly casual, bordering on spartan, yet there is something deeply familiar and unhurried about it -- a kind of timeless, neighbourhood authenticity that more polished establishments spend years trying to manufacture. The hoppers themselves are the undisputed centrepiece, and they deliver with conviction. Fermented rice-flour batter, lacework-crisp at the edges, yielding and softly chewy at the bowl's centre -- the texture is precisely what the form demands. One is advised, however, to receive them with immediacy: like all great bread, the hopper is a creature of the moment. The short journey home diminishes their crispness in a way that no reheating can fully redeem. Plan accordingly.

Our server was able to keep our order in mind despite us being a party or 10. That was impressive. As for ambience. Honestly was kinda outdated but felt like a piece of home.
