Hara Bhara Kebabs
Shefali B.

I really tried to like this place, but it missed the mark for me. I came here for the first time this past Saturday evening, I placed an order over the phone and then picked up my food 30min later. I was a bit disappointed that we tried to order a Daal Makhani but they were sold out. I found it pretty strange that a restaurant with Daal in the name didn't have daal to serve. After speaking with the staff we found out that Daal Roti is actually a franchise and each franchisee has to buy the daal ingredients and specific proportions from their head office, so once they run out, they really do run out. Apparently they are most famously known for their Daal Tardka as opposed to any of their other daals. We Ordered: - Butter Chicken - Malai Kofta - Baingan Patiala - Hara Bhara Kebab - 4 Naans - 1 Laccha Parantha -1 Onion Kulcha Our total bill was $75 The main dishes were probably the least exciting for me, especially because both the Butter Chicken & Malai Kofta had a very sweet gravy. The Butter Chicken was also a little disappointing because there were so few actual chicken pieces in the dish ( there were about 6 small pieces in ours ). The Baingan Patiala was pretty good and the Hara Bhara Kebabs were so tasty! Typically they make crispier naans ( Delhi style ) but we had requested softer naans. Unfortunately, the Naans were not the best, they felt a bit undercooked and chewy. Overall it was just an okkk experience, the portion sizes were pretty good, but the taste of quality of the food was just ok. I'm glad I tried it but I'm pretty skeptical I would come back here again, especially after this experience.

Goat curry

Ok, let me start off with the good stuff first. The place was neat and clean, well lit. Good decor, decent furnishings. It just started in March 2020 so I would have been surprised if it was anything else. The person at the counter was pleasant, offered options and suggestions. We decided to order out one Malai Kofta, a got curry and a goat biryani. He said that the dishes were a mix from Bombay and Ahmedabad so we knew from the start that the Biryani was risky but we decided to try it anyway... The Malai Kofta was good, rich and creamy curry. The quantity was adequate as well. All in all it was well made. The Biryani and goat curry were something else. Biryani off course did not taste "Mughlai" but that we did not mind - it wasn't layered either, which was ok too. Unfortunately the bad started with the meat. It was probably cheap frozen goat and any foodie knows what good goat meat tastes like. This was old chewy meat, felt like the animal died of old age. I did not get a good vibe of the spices, the salt wasn't right etc. A dish to avoid definitely. And if they did not get the goat biryani right, I'm pretty sure the chicken biryani may not make the mark either. Definitely not for someone who eats indian/Pakistani food regularly - and certainly not for someone who cooks these dishes at home. The goat curry was similar. Though the curry (gravy) was good, the goat meat was the same poor quality. Basically I would recommend avoiding all goat dishes here. This place is probably good for the starters and the vegetarian dishes, not for non-veg. Sorry guys, I really wanted to rate you well but can't - maybe change the chef and start over...

Walking in, the space is mostly kitchen, with no seating (under COVID conditions). The previous (burger) restaurant that occupied this space before had only two tables of two and a counter in the window. There are currently two tables of four set up under a tent in the parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant. These tables could have been cleaner. In addition to TV screens hanging from the ceiling, there is a large menu on the wall with (I'm guessing) their six most popular items. I ordered the Tandoori(?) chicken from this menu. It included two leg quarters, salad, rice, naan, and a drink for only $9.99. Not a bad deal. It took about fifteen minutes for my order to be completed. A few other customers were ahead of me, also waiting, some impatiently. Once ready, I sat at one of the tables out front. Hmmm, no napkins? Only a spoon to eat with? Where's my drink? Once I got that sorted, it was time to eat. The chicken was a tad on the dry side and the flavours a bit understated. The salad consisted of lettuce, cucumbers, and red onions. The naan was large and fresh. The rice was plentiful, nice and fluffy. I'm used to bolder flavours in Indian cuisine. Overall, it was just okay. I'm used to bold flavours but I found the chicken a bit underseasoned. While the food wasn't bad, it wasn't as good as I was anticipating. Hopefully, these issues will be sorted out in time. PS - The fly strips hanging in the restaurant were a bit of a turn off.

Their staff took our reservations right away over the phone, they were very polite. We arrived and for our first visit in 2023, it was nothing but nostalgic. The decor and overall ambience is very relaxing and beautiful, the golden adornments and cultural feel is amazing. Our seats were already reserved for us when we arrived, and we were seated right away. Our server Lila, was very polite and loved making jokes with us about making dishes less spicy. After ordering, our appetizer and meals came swiftly out and were divine, though some had spicy spices, it was a pleasant spiciness and went away quickly. Each meal and side was filling and pleasant for the tastebuds and authentic. Sadly we got full too fast, and boxed the rest of our meals, but it was 100% worth the trip and price. A nice side note is that there is no TV and only radio, so it's a more intimate setting and is way more peaceful. Overall one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, and my greatest weakness when it comes to food, I'd recommend this restaurant for anyone, coming alone, coming for a date or coming with their family.

I haven't had a chance to get to Zeera during the pandemic and I have missed it terribly so tonight I hopped onto Uber Eats and placed an order! I opted for some oldies but goodies and a couple of dishes I hadn't tried before. The bread basket is definitely a must have. All of their naan is delicious and I can never choose just one kind. Why not get an assortment? The other staple I ordered was Aloo Gobi. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, as always. The dishes I hadn't tried before at Zeera were their chicken biryani and paneer korma. Both dishes were incredible and I will definitely order them again. I've had saag paneer countless times but I've never heard of paneer korma. I love korma so how could I go wrong? A definite winner! (I made my own Raita though.) When you compare price to serving sizes, it's one of the more expensive restaurants I go to but when I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine, Zeera is my go-to!

We tried the Amritsari paneer tikka - it's to die for! I really loved the marination on it wanted the flavour ( one of the best I have had in Canada). I'm not sure how long they've been there or why I hadn't noticed them before but I'm always up for a good curry so we popped in for dinner. The menu is quite extensive and it took us a while to look over everything. Since this was our first time here, we opted for dishes we were familiar with so we could benchmark them against our favourite Indian restaurant. Our selection consisted of Aloo Gobi Masala, Tandoori Butter Chicken, Malai Lamb Curry, Super Naan, Masala Raita and Basmati Rice. Everything looked and smelled amazing so we were excited to tuck in. First, I have to say, this Aloo Gobi has set the bar higher and is now the benchmark by which all future Aloo Gobi dishes will be compared against. The curry dishes were also amazing. In fairness, ordering butter chicken was safe, but we also wanted to have something we hadn't tried before. You can never go wrong with lamb and the description of the Malai Lamb Curry sounded irresistible... it left me gobsmacked. Are you kidding me? This dish is packed with flavour and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We actually considered packing up the rest of the sauce to bring home. Honestly, it's that good. Definitely a MUST! Absolutely everything from start to finish was delicious. The owner/chef (?) came out for a chat and to regale us with descriptions of other dishes to try next time... and believe me, there will definitely be a next time! Have I just found my new favourite Indian restaurant? I think I might have.

They were large, stuffed with chicken, and very delicious, especially with a spicy dipping sauce! That was soon followed by Dahi Puri, a crispy pastry shell with a savoury filling, topped with creamy yogurt. I've had similar dishes but these were the best versions ever! We also had their Chicken Choyela (served with crispy broken rice), an excellent Chicken Chow Mein, and Paratha flatbread. Additionally, we had a Mutton Thakali Set which is a combo meal with several components, all delicious. We were impressed. Every dish was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, with generous portions. I highly recommend Lumbini Hut! I'll definitely be back! We ordered a couple different dishes and shared Dahi Puri Chicken Choyela Chicken Steam Momo's Chicken Chow Mein Thakali Set - Mutton Paratha I'm a huge Dahi Puri lover. This version blew me away... The flavor profile was perfection. ( My friend LOVED this dish as well. ) Next up were the Momo's. They're known for their Momo's. I do prefer a steamed Momo, so we went with steamed chicken. The portion size was quite large and the dipping sauce paired well; they had so much flavor. The next appetizer dish was one I have never had before; Chicken Choyela. I generally don't enjoy crunchy / textured foods but my friend quite enjoyed the puffed rice addition of this dish. The chicken had a unique flavor, unlike anything I've had before. It was solid. Their Chow Mein is another dish that they're known for. I seem to prefer noodles over rice these days. (But, I'm generally disappointed with most places noodles.) These were SUPERB! They had a smoky flavor to them and were a 10/10. I've had Thali but never a Thakali. While similar, they are different; We chose the mutton option. This dish was incredibly tender and bursting with flavors. Dish after dish impressed us. This spot hits all the right notes and is a definite must visit if you're in the area. My friend was so impressed, he's already planning his next visit!
