August 10, 2025 - I tried this wonderful Indian restaurant located in Time Square in Markham/Thornhill. Interesting location to have an Indian restaurant as it's all Chinese restaurant in that area, but I digress. It's definitely a welcoming addition to the area. I got two lunch combos and split it with my friend. We got the Aloo Gobhi and Butter Chicken combos. Both came with rice, chick peas and a naan. I'm a huge fan of Indian cuisine because of all the spices and flavour they use and this is no exception. Both dishes were seasoned extremely well and tasted amazing. The butter chicken sauce was rich and creamy. The naan was fluffy and soft. The Aloo Gobhi was also great. It had a slight kick to it to bring out the flavour. I'll definitely be back. read more

Bombay Bhel - Butter Chicken and Aloo Gobhi lunch combo - Indian Near Me - Richmond Hill, Ontario

This has been serving the community for more than 27 years. After their move to a more permanent spot in Times Square Richmond Hill, they were surely a hit as they delivered the yummiest butter chicken in the neighborhood. I tried some of their classics and fusion dishes, which gave me a different perspective on Indian cuisine. Some of my favorites were the "Everything But the Bagel" Naan, Butter Chicken and Fish Tacos. They also have refreshing drinks, and I love the Mango and Pistacchio shake. Their butter chicken sauce was so popular that they sold them in big containers. They ran out when we visited. Inquire about their catering and delivery for all your event needs! read more

I still remember this place like it was 15 years ago. Same awesome taste to their version of Butter Chicken. The best in the business! Butter Chicken at its finest. Seriously. Try it Poutine style, or with Naan, or my favorite - with Basmati rice. I was impressed again and still hungry for more. Our server was distracted and not as attentive as we hoped. Not because it was deliberate, but because there was a group that kept complaining of the food and how it was prepared, or with some ingredient they (the customers) didn't agree with. I was upset. Not with our server, but the "experts." The server did their best to diffuse the situation. Other than the rude disruption, we had an awesome experience introducing our favorite Indian restaurant to our kids. They loved the food and will come back again when the restaurant moves to a new location sometime later this year. Enjoy! "They're your tastebuds! Satisfy them!" -Allan Delacruz read more

Moderately well interior, good service but some items in the menu falls short on quality, especially when comparing price vs quality. We had beef samosas, malai kofta, aloo parantha and butter nan. I'll rate them between 3 to 4 stars, especially where the samosas and aloo parantha has scope to improve. Limited parking available in front of the restaurant in the plaza's private lot. read more

Hands down the best butter chicken in the GTA. They are not kidding when they say this! the flavours, the portions, always is impeccable. Every time we go, we always order the butter chicken with a side of garlic naan. If you have never been, this combo will never fail. If you get the pleasure of speaking to the owner, he will guide you through the menu and the spice level. Coming in I wasn't too sure which level of spice to do, but he picked perfectly for me! You can tell he pours his heart into the food and what he does! In terms of the ambiance, I think it's quite alright. They moved a couple months ago, maybe a year ago to this location and it definitely feels newer. I highly recommend if you're looking for some good food! I promise they're not lying about how good their butter chicken is. read more

This a new location for Bombay biel as they used to be on Leslie . The new location is hard to find and is small operation compared with other locations However the food is still good and the service is very good too We had vegetarian food as well as butter chicken . It did not come with naan bread and you have to pay extra. The overall food is good but don't expect cheap Indian food Bombay Biel is not a cheap place but the food is delicious. Maybe they are still trying to finish the place because the seats are not comfortable aka some scratchy spots so I will think they may want to improve on the seats Otherwise enjoy your food and the hospitality of the restaurant read more

The butter chicken here is delicious. This is the best butter chicken I've had in a long time. We had an order of "doubles" too. It was yummy too. The restaurant's decor is modern and welcoming. Perfect lighting for a nice dinner. The staff are friendly and efficient. Can't wait to back. read more

We heard about this place from a friend and my wife wanted Indian food and we could not have been happier with the restaurant. We went on a Thursday and it was not very busy. They were doing renovations and are moving across the street but the ambiance was nice and helped with the vibe of the restaurant. The owner was our server and he was very nice and gave us the suggestions of what to order as we did not know. Everything was spot on, samosas and butter chicken were amazing. I do not give 5 stars often but this place deserves it, could be the best Indian food in Richmond Hill area. The food took some time but not too long and was worth the wait. We spent about $85 between 2 people but had another meals worth to take home. Check this place out! read more

Time for an update. I have not been back since 2016. After having a less than stellar meal, I wrote a review and that was that. I recently went back to try their food again. Nothing better than dining family style with new friends. That way you get to try so many dishes that a single diner can not do. Over the last couple of years, I have been to various Indian places and have developed a wider palate than just Chicken Tikka Masala. I discovered that if done right, I really like Curry Goat and various forms of curry with paneer. We ordered a bevy of items and instead of going through all of them, let me key in on just a few. Fusion lovers - there was Butter Chicken Poutine. Note that you only get the curry, no chicken pieces on this order. Basically golden fries, yummy curds, drenched in their most popular curry. Have to say, it is truly addictive. Mango Paneer - say what? Take mango and make a curry out of it and serve it with chunks of paneer? Why not? Sweet and savoury meets and it's quite a pleasing dish. Curry Goat - bone in. There are two ways to make it. Bone in and bone out...simple. I like it bone in as the bone and marrow adds significant flavour to the curry. Some like to dig out the marrow - to each their own. This was my favourite dish of the night. After the meal, I got speaking with Raj - the owner. Spoke about my 2016 experience and why I decided to not frequent his establishment. Keep in mind, this place has been in his family since the beginning - I can hazard to say around 25 years. He spoke about how ingredients affect his meals. He uses fresh tomatoes to make his tomato based curries, not cans. This adds an element of risk as consistency could have been a problem. All in all, a very pleasant converation. Bombay Bhel is back on my list of restaurants. In fact, if it wasn't for this wicked windstorm and rain outside, I might have made it out for a pickup! Cheers! read more

How awesome to finally find a place with decent curry and butter chicken nearby!! It's a very spacious restaurant and honestly I found the service to be a bit slow. There were only about 4 other tables with us. But the food was good and they have a pretty good menu offering. We went with the spinach and paneer samosas. They were bite size and I actually really really enjoyed those! I could devour the entire basket. Then i got butter chicken and garlic naan. :) It was very strong tomatoes flavor and just the right amount of cream! My only recommendation is to make it just a smidge less sweet. But otherwise, it was yummy! Prices were okay. I think a bit higher than expected for the value but that's just an opinion. Over all good for a nice quiet dinner. I can't wait to come back :) read more

I wouldn't give this place Any rating. I found a stapler pin in my food which I and my child consumed when I bought this to the notice of the management they could say or do nothing I feel highly threatened by the quality of the service and the food that was served to me! I am feeling super anxious because I consumed 90% of the Bhel. I discovered this when I was already on my way back home I drove out 20 minutes To register this complaint with the restaurant and All that they could do was blame it on their suppliers! Horrible horrible experience would not recommend this place to anyone even in hell! read more

Super disappointed at our once favourite go-to. The food is still tasty, but servings have been getting noticeably smaller every time and prices seem to have doubled over 5 years. The $26 butter chicken only had 5 bite sized pieces of chicken. 2 mains and a jar of sauce was $62 with 10% cash discount (take out). Ok Fine...but after walking out we realized they short changed us and charged us $74. That's insane. They've lost us as a long time customer. read more

I am a frequent eater at Bombay Bhel. It's no accident. Bombay Bhel has been a frequent go to stop for me for years. Their secret is consistently delicious food that knocks it out of the park. I come here for meetings, to visit friends, and for the last several months as a frequent source of take out. Today, I had the quinoa\chana salad with Chicken tikka and paneer. Normally who's would have just been chicken. Having had it, I would stick with the chicken. The quinoa was served with chickpeas and Dahl nestled among green onions, tomatoes, olive oil, and fresh lemon juice. The chicken tikka was most. The contrast of the quinoa/Chaka with lemon juice with fresh tandoori cooked white chicken is hard to forget. I already want it again. White meat can be very dry and can distract from a nice meal. This was the meal that broke that mold! No dryness, and a beautiful blending of multiple flavours. All that and healthy. Not that this was the selling point for me, but I got to feel smug in the fact that I had a healthy meal that left me feeling satisfied. This was a whole meal and very satisfying, and the best part, if you need to eat gluten free, this dish fits the bill. I hope that this is on the table when I get to have my next Indian food party! read more

I love coming here whenever I have a craving for butter chicken! The reason for this is because I like it just the way they make it. I did notice that some other reviewers mentioned the sauce being on the sweeter side which I agree with, but for me, that aspect doesn't count against its tastiness for me personally! [Butter Chicken] $16.99 - This dish is a tomato-based one that is creamy! It is not spicy at all. Although the dish it is served in looks rather small, there are actually a lot more chunks of chicken in the sauce than meets the eye! I shared this one main with my friend and between the two of us, we thought it was a fair amount of meat for just ordering one dish. [Garlic Naan] $3.99 - this is essentially flatbread that I believe they make in house. Definitely go for the garlic option when ordering naan because it is extremely flavorful and pairs really well with the butter chicken sauce! [Raita] $3.99 - This is essentially a yogurt dish that is similar to tzatziki! I ordered this for my friend because she is horrible at being able to eat spicy foods. Luckily for her though, the butter chicken, was not spicy at all. I did tell her that in advance but just in case, I ordered the raita if she really did find the butter chicken sauce spicy. Regardless, it also pairs really well with the aforementioned dishes! The only thing that I'd recommend this restaurant have a look at is the wait times between ordering and receiving the food. I came here with a friend I haven't seen in over a year so we didn't really mind having all that time to talk before the food came. I can understand, however, that if you were just coming her for a regular meal, the wait time would be considered outrageously long. I think we waited for over half an hour to forty five minutes before the butter chicken and naan arrived. We also had to remind the waiter more than twice about the fact that our raita hadn't come yet and we were already more than halfway through our meal... Other than that, the service was friendly but again, it can definitely be seen as a downside regarding how long it takes for food to be served! I would still recommend this place but maybe only for takeout to ensure that I can get my delicious food immediately :D read more

Long needed Indian food in Richmond hill finally arrives. Up until now, it was slim pickins for an Indian dinner, and the options were little more than uninspiring. Placed an order through Uber eats in a recommendation and was very impressed. The mixed tandoor platter was a great way to work my way through all the essentials. Juicy chicken tikka, smoky tandoori chicken, tender haraya chicken and spicy, flavourful lamb kebobs make this a necessary order. Butter chicken was probably one of my favourites I've tried anywhere, with a rich, tomatoey sauce that made a perfect pairing for the fresh, pillowy naan. Don't miss their spicy biryani. The best part is you can pick your protein - try the shrimp. read more

We ordered here for take out very last min and they were able to accommodate our order. Again, I stress that Indian food in Toronto is difficult to find. I'm still on the search for my go to Indian restaurant. However, I had a very good experience at Bombay angel from overall ordering process to the very nice customer service. If you order online you can customize the spice level of your dishes and each main entree comes with a side of naan or rice. We ordered vegetable biryani, paneer butter masala and alo gobi. The biryani was very tasty and not crazy spicy so you can enjoy the flavors. It comes with a side of raita which was excellent. Together it was delicious. The paneer was amazing, definitely one of the best paneer butter masala I had in the city. The creamy sauce and amounts of bite size paneer was mouth watering. The last dish the alo gobi was okay, mostly because it was filled with more gobi than alo, and has a cumin after taste. The naan was fluffy and perfect. Regardless, everything together tasted wonderful. The portion sizes are huge and the packaging is great. I will definitely be ordering from here and would love to try new dishes. I would give this place a try! The customer service is friendly and nice. read more

I came in on a Tuesday around 745 as a group of 4 and was seated in one of the booths. The interior of the place is quite nice and modern, the booths were pretty comfortable for four people and the table was large enough to accommodate all the food. The server was attentive and prompt with the orders and water refills. Our groups started off with the Spinach Samosas (3.5/5), these were fried golden and had a good amount of filling inside, the sauce was plum? the sauce was just okay, and I found the samosa nothing spectacular... but it's spinach so I don't want to judge too hard. For our mains, we got: Chicken Biryani with Curry (4/5) The rice was nice and fluffy, the flavours blended very well and had a good amount of chicken in it. The curry that came with it was a tad bland though. Butter Chicken (4/5) Really good butter chicken, the heat was nice and the curry was slightly sweet, went really well with the garlic naan. They were very generous with the chicken, there were tons and tons of chicken chunks in the bowl. Goat Curry (5/5) oh yesssssssssss, this had to be the best thing we ordered. Like you NEED to get this. I don't know how to cook goat but I'm gonna start because I NEED to learn how to make this divine curry. The meat was tender and the aromatics of this curry from the goat make it so so so good. I don't even know how to explain how good this is. Please get this curry. Paneer tikka Masala (SKIP 2/5) So so sad that this was no good. I love love love paneer, but this paneer just didn't have the right texture, tikka masala was really bland and it was more oily than I would have liked. I would skip this dish. Garlic Naan & Regular Naan (4/5) I am no naan expert but these were all pretty soft and had a nice bite to them. I wasn't crazy about the garlic naan, but it went well with the butter chicken, so I would recommend it to try once? I would stick to the regular naan though. Overall, I had a really enjoyable dinner here and I'm STILL thinking about that goat curry, I'll be back to try their lollipop chicken and lamb offerings. read more

As an Indian who knows how curries and butter chicken and chicken lollipop taste, this did not meet the standard at all. The chaat and bhel were good but not the rest. Very disappointing. On top of that the service was very poor. The waitress told us the kitchen closes at 815pm, they pack up at 830pm, and the restaurant closes at 9PM. Before we could even finish our dessert they turned off the lights. I've never had a restaurant tell me when they start packing up indicating they want us out asap. We were told this info when we entered, instead we are told halfway through the dinner. We used to come to Bombay bhel lots back in the day and it's clear they don't care about the people or service just want to make their money. Would never go back or recommend to anyone. Overpriced for low tasting food and poor service with no remorse from the staff. read more

I had the beef samosas and mango chicken with nann. The samosas were good- very hot with a ton of filling. The beef minced inside were flavoured and tasted good. Decent place for Indian food. The butter chicken has great colour and the aloo tikki (fried potato patties with a curried chick pea sauce and a sweet sauce, 3 pcs) has lots of spices and flavour. I prefer the cheese naan over the garlic, just because it's softer and chewier-- pure comfort food. But both naans are really fluffy and crispy! read more

Everytime I order here, flavours are consistently great. I get a variety of the non-vegetarian dishes and my favourite has to be the Chicken Korma. Meat is always tender and the sauce is creamy and satisfying. Flavours are balanced. Not many major downsides, such as the wait time (though this due to booming business despite being in the middle of a pandemic), and the naan is sometimes a bit too burnt. read more

They used to be on the other side of highway 7 - it was a bit cramped, but great food. The "new" - they have been there for a few years - is spacious, room for large parties. Food is always great. But we usually go to our usual favorites. There is a lunch and dinner menu - both available any time we went in - lunch menu offers smaller servings. We noted that we can have a terrific lunch for not much more than getting a combos at one of the large burger chains. Atmosphere is better than those places too. If you are nostalgic for India or would like to get a small taste without the travel I would recommend it. Staff are polite, helpful and quick. I would recommend the veg samosas and butter chicken. If you are extra hungry try the cheese garlic naan - almost a meal in itself. I'm getting hungry just writing about it - so time for lunch! read more

I ordered butter chicken with garlic naan and samosas on the side, in total with tax this added up to $30 for dinner. Quite pricy for the amount of butter chicken you get but the quality of the dish was amazing! The butter chicken was richly flavoured with spices the chicken was very smooth and tender. I also loved the samosas normally the ones I order the skin is thick and stuffed with mostly potatoes, but this place perfectly fried these samosas with thin crunchy skin and very juicy and flavourful beef as well! I would order theses again! I saw that the lunch menu is a lot cheaper, it's the same as dinner except it comes with salad and a regular naan but for less the price! Tried the restaurant with 6 of my work colleagues but it was an odd time for the restaurant where they're in transition of a new location move. As we ordered drinks we were advised most things weren't available but instead of being aware of what was available the server had to check each time. One meal came 20 mins earlier than the rest so after waiting 5 minutes for the other meals, my colleague went ahead and ate. Another meal came out incorrect (the wrong dish). While the restaurant pushed for us to accept it, we insisted they prepare what was actually ordered. This resulted in one colleague receiving their meal 20 mins late. Overall service was quite bad with nobody to check on food or refill waters. In the end while knowing they wouldn't receive a good tip after such a bad meal experience they automatically added 18% gratuity to the bill. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty Indian restaurants in the area who will provide better food with much better service. We left feeling scammed. If they know you "have" to pay gratuity nonetheless, why bother providing decent service. read more

Bombay Bhel - Lunch special. (close) tikka masala. (Far) butter chicken. Both taste amazing - Indian Near Me - Richmond Hill, Ontario

I found myself recalling how I found Bombay Bhel, and how it turned from a great restaurant choice to a near addiction for me. This was triggered by their recent renovation, where the only un-stellar part of the experience was the slightly threadbare and dim interior. Now the place looks more like an upscale bar, and yet the food quality remains rock solid. Compared to my previous review (see below), I have become a regular, always ordering the Beef Curry lunch special--outstanding for under $10. Of course the naan is always delicious, and the tool of choice for getting at every bit of the curry gravy. Yes, it has become an addiction. I can tell by the cravings that never let me stay away too long! ______ In the middle of an ocean of Asian restaurants sits a quaint Indian restaurant. I was introduced to Bombay by a business associate after 15 years of driving past it every day. It is in the same complex as Go For Tea, Congee Queen and Baton Rouge, so there is a bit of competition. But to the food: I ordered a Chicken Thali, which is a nice assortment of tandoori chicken, rice, naan, daal, raita, papadum, pickle, dessert & your choice of beef or chicken, or lamb for an extra $1.00. The flavours and sauces were wonderful, which made the incredible fresh naan bread essential to sop up every drop. Just the right heat, tenderness and crispness of everything on the plate made it a great meal for a very decent price. Although small, this place still competes with the other large upscale restaurants in the complex. I can only imagine the place is packed every lunch hour. read more

3.5 stars. Hubby and I used to have a favourite "hole in the wall" Indian restaurant in East Markham. That is until I took my brother and sister in law there and a roach crawled out from the side of the table. Never again! Thankfully Bombay Bhel is NOT that restaurant, and it is now our go to place to satisfy our cravings for Indian food. The restaurant is dimly lit, clean, and decorated with Indian inspired art along the wall where a number of booths are located. We usually order butter chicken with naan (can upgrade to garlic naan for an additional fee). The butter chicken sauce is creamy but not too thick, and I have been known to sop up every last bit of the butter chicken sauce goodness with naan. When are feeling the need for veggies, we order the okra dish, or the aloo gobi (Indian style cauliflower with potatoes). Each dish is served with your choice of basmati rice or naan. Their vegetarian samosas are pretty good too, and are served with a delicious sweet sour tamarind sauce. The food is reasonable priced for what you are getting, although I find many Indian restaurants' serving sizes to be on the smaller size (this place included). Nonetheless there are few places where I would make a special trip to get butter chicken, and this restaurant happens to be one of them. (14/100) read more

Flavourful and chicken was tender, but not hot enough Chicken Tandoori - Came with 3 pieces of chicken on a bed of green salad. Not as spicy as other restaurants Navratna Korma - Mixed veggies and paneer in a cashew nut sauce. It's sweet and not as heavy as butter chicken. However it was made with frozen mixed veggies - maybe can improve with fresh produce Naan is a decent size, soft and hot.
