Naan
Ian C.

Very good service with very tasty food. A clean and newly renovated interior. Very quiet place for lunch. We also came back for dinner another time. The service were consistent both time. Efficient and attentive. The staffs were very polite. The food can have no complaints. The curry we tried were fresh with it ingredients and flavorful. The naan were freshly prepared. The momo has been the best I have tried in Canada so far (as I have done some momo hunting a while back.) This is my go to place for Indian food.

Dum Pukht Yonge is an elegant Indian restaurant located right by Sheppard-Yonge Station; it's…read moreaccessible by subway line 1 and 4 and if you're driving, there's parking available behind the restaurant (with reasonable price). It's known for using the traditional dum pukht slow‑cooking method, which brings out deep, rich flavours in dishes like biryani and curries. The space is cozy yet refined, making it a comfortable spot for anything from a casual dinner to a special night out. The menu offers a wide range of options, including vegetarian choices and allergy‑friendly dishes, all made with fresh, high‑quality ingredients. We ordered "Broccoli Steak Mustard Glaze " for appetizer, "Dal Panchratni" and "Chicken Tikka Masala" for main and paired our meal with "Tropical Oasis" and "Sex on the Beach". We finished our meal with "Nest Rasmalai" for dessert. Our food was flavorful and beautifully served. The staff are friendly and attentive.

A couple of cocktails got our evening started, before ordering from a menu of dishes being featured for the evening. Here's what we had: * Broccoli Soup * Lasooni Tangdi (Chicken) * Lamb Nawabi * Dum Pukht Veg Biryani * Goan Curry Fish * Laal Maas (Goat Curry) * Garlic Naan * Shai Tukda (Dessert) The food was pretty good, with rich flavours, bright colours, and attractive presentation, especially the dessert, with foggy dry ice creating a nice aesthetic. I also had the chance to photograph other dishes. Everything looked great! Service was understandably slow for a packed house but live performers kept us entertained, with dancers and a musician circulating through the dining room. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening out with a friend. 4.5/5.0

Over all for the price was not bad. I would caution that some meat was not cooked fully the host did get it recooked but it was not fully cooked. The bread was freshly made. The other I'm not sure Inside The place was very clean and nice. The tables were nice and very clean. It was small but felt nice. Washroom also not bad. Host Very nice but at some point he could use some help. Over all it's a nice place but I'm not sure if I would go back. It's far for me and other place are near me.

We had the appetizer platter, the tandoori platter, the masala dosa, beef rogan josh, and fish madras. You order rice and naan separately, so we ordered one rice and two naan for four people. I can't recommend the appetizer platter and tandoori platter enough!! You get so much for the price and get to try a bit of everything. The appetizer platter came loaded with various fried goodies. I loved the freshly made samosas. The tandoori platter was the highlight of the meal for me as each type of meat was cooked so well, full of their distinct flavors but still moist and tender. It came in a sizzling smoking hot to the table and we devoured it. The two curries were also delicious, but were overshadowed by my love of the tandoori.

The second time I came my server was this sweet younger lady who was patient enough to explain to me the various dishes and the ingredients. Layout: this location was renovated this year and it looks much better. I will snap a few shots next time I remember. It is also quite clean. They serve your food cafeteria style. They have one person that rings you out and another that cashes you out . Food: it is not the worst Indian food I've ever had but it is not the best. Nice alternative to what is offered on York lanes but a bit bland in comparison to authentic Indian food. I assume it is probably to cater to the palate of those on campus. Note: if you have never tried a mango lassi you are missing out!

I have gone to this restaurant several times as a student at York and over the years the quality…read morehas gone down for the most part. First the food - some of their dishes taste really good and are really well prepared. Their food is good in the morning and afternoon but usually stale and cold towards closing hours in the evening. The quality has gone down because their dishes are more watered down now and they giving miserly portions of vegetables/chicken with lots and lots of rice. Second, the staff. This one is a hit and miss. One or two of the employees are generally pleasant to customers but a lot of them are apathetic students, quite a few with attitude problems. So beware and do not be too pleasant for disappointment may be just around the corner. Finally, the atmosphere itself. Love the paintings on the wall and the ambient vibe of the place. The music is usually good with many eclectic songs played from the South-Asian sub-continent. One negative part is that there are just way too many signs clarifying the rules of the place. Signs, for instance, clarifying what kind of food you have to order so you can sit there and eat, or how you can't pay with any pennies or how to eat a wrap. Yes, instructions on how to eat a wrap. I understand that they cater to students but this is the only place on the entire campus with such a large litany of rules. All in all, I give it a 3.5/5 for the times when their food is so good that everything else comes second. Bottomline, Get take out and avoid the staff.

This place is located in a plaza on the south side of Steeles and is very unassuming. It's literally called "The Indian Cuisine" - Googling this place is hard because you can't just use a partial name! There is a large red sign but otherwise nothing distinct. Upon entering there isn't a lot of tables and a small buffet visually. But compared to "The Host" this place has a solid selection of food of around 30 items which is plenty, only issue is that they don't refill everything all that quickly so you may need to go back for aby favorites. But there is plenty to go around, pretty freshly made and hot. Better then a tray of food sitting under a heat lamp all morning! The quality of the food was quite decent and didn't taste overly salty. Everything tasted on point and portions of course is AYCE so no problems here! AYCE is only available weekends, so Fri to Sun only from 11:30 to 3pm but very well worth the trip. As of March 2024 lunch buffet was $18.99 for one adult + tax and tip. Unheard of with inflation these days. There was only one guy waiter, refilling food, fresh naan, cashier etc. He did it all, did it fast and with a smile! Really great service! Honestly would not hesitate to go back or recommend. Is this place social media worthy with decor and presentation? I will be honest and say it's pretty plain. But for price, value, food quality? It's really hard to beat! Keep expectations in check and remember you get what you pay for, and most of that goes to the food here! Hope they keep this up!
