Long review alert! We went here to try out their Summerlicious price fixe at $35 and wasn't too disappointed with the food and taste but the service was BAD. Food we tried: Prawn Balchao Chicken tikka kafreal Goan Shrimp Curry (came with rice, naan and I chose a side of chana masala) Lamb Xacutti (came with rice, naan and we chose a side of dal makhani) Mango lassi cheesecake Bebinca / cinnamon ice cream The food I won't lie was really flavorful and hit the right mark, but what was disappointing is that the owner/manager specifically asked guests beside us if the food was good or if they needed anything and not for once did he come up to ask us the same. Will be looking for alternatives to this place only because of their service.

Tasty Indian food at a slightly overpriced price. They offer 15% discount if you do takeout which makes the prices better. Ex. Lamb vindaloo original $21.95 with discount is $18.66 The page says they offer free delivery but that is not available, called Jan 10 and confirmed. You can only do paid delivery via ubereats. I got 3 curries and biryani - $19.95 Butter chicken (classic and delicious, not spicy) - $21.95 lamb vindaloo (very spicy, has lamb and potato) - $21.95 sindhi methi gosht (delicious ) - $21.95 biryani (lamb, with bones) - $4 garlic naan (3 pieces) They were all really good, tasty and soft. Well flavoured. The vindaloo was very spicy, beware if you don't like things to spicy. The portion size is about 6-8 pieces of meat per curry dish. Very pricey considering the price point. Nevertheless it's very tasty and great for the occasional meal.

Came here for dinner on a weekday. They serve Goan cuisine, which is more of a tropical style of Indian food and known for its fish curry. The place had clearly put some efforts into its interior design, very classic Indian style with photos of Goa showcasing on the wall. Ordered the fish curry, basmati and garlic naan. They didn't use the most popular kingfish for the curry, but still tasted pretty authentic. Service was amazing. The two folks were super polite and friendly. We asked for one piece of napkin and they handed us with a pile on a decent little metal plate. If you'd like to try some west coast Indian food, especially Goan, this is a recommended place. Food (quality, presentation) +1 Ambience (interior, cleanness) +1.5 Service +1.5 Price +1

I have to be honest - I never, EVER choose Indian. I usually find Indian food too heavy and my lactose, spice, and general intolerance to life finds it hard to stomach the food. Except that all changed when I arrived in my stretchy disco pants on a cold winter night. It may have been the elasticity of my pants or maybe it was magic, but Goa Kitchen blew me away. We tried the dinner tasting menu which consisted of 3-4 dishes over 3 courses at $50 per person. It was our annual holiday dinner and we were splurging, except in hindsight it was quite a deal for the experience, service, and amount of food. Bonus points for their chicken and meat options being halal. I have to tell you that there was nothing on this menu that didn't delight my tastebuds. However, a girl always does pick favourites. Their butter chicken, lamp chops, cafreal chicken, eggplant, and cauliflower were phenomenal. Dessert was interesting and the opinion was quite divided, but I have to say I like the bread pudding best. I am not keen on very sweet desserts, which is why I think others preferred the gulab jaman and kulfi. All in all, I don't know if we got lucky or the chef took pity on our starved souls, but he/she was sending out all the top picks. Also, I cannot forget about our server who was extremely attentive and took down all our allergies/dietary restrictions. He was good to swap out things we couldn't have and returned with some delicious options instead. Truly a gem! Even though my friend had to drag me here and I followed petulantly, I truly was not expecting much. Not only am I going to be coming back possibly more often than the stretch in my pants allow, but I will also be naming my first born to the beautiful human that introduced me to this place.

Came here with a friend for a birthday lunch. The waiter told us that the food from the appetizer section can technically be a consider as a main. The food under the appetizers are less saucy, whilst the food under mains are generally more saucy. We shared the wagyu beef kebab, chicken xacutti and chilli paneer naan. My friend and I have low heat/spice tolerance. As a result we asked if the naan can have less chili and they kindly accommodated. The kebabs were actually quite good, they were well spiced and not dry. The chicken xacutti reminds me of chicken korma. The curry was smooth, not overly creamy and had a well balance of flavour. I enjoyed it so much that I ate quite a few spoonful on it's own, without the naan. The naan wasn't oily like most indian restaurants. It was soft and slightly chewy. I wish they didn't crumble the paneer so finely, it would have been nice to have a bit more texture to it

Been here twice now so I've had an opportunity to try a lot of the dishes on the menu. My last visit we ordered the butter chicken and the lamb shank biryani. The butter chicken is one of the better ones I have had...the creaminess nestled in with all the spices makes it perfect for scooping up all the lovely sauce with the butter naan. And speaking of the naan...that tear away, buttery, slightly crispy goodness is just begging to be eaten. The lamb shank biryani had the tender lamb literally just fall off the bone...and the rice..perfectly seasoned. Sometimes, I find biryani is made "wet" if that makes any sense. I like mine more on the drier side, and this was perfect for me. On my first visit, we tried the Branzino (so delicious, this fall apart in your mouth fish), the biryani, the butter chicken, the lamb chops, the chicken xacutti, the beef rib samosas and the vindaloo. The beef rib samosas were probably my least fave...i guess i just prefer my old fashion samosa. The vindaloo - oh my - you could slice through the meat so easily, it was just wonderful. One of my faves from this particular night. The decor is lovely, and it is a smaller restaurant located inside Bayview mall (not a standalone restaurant outside the mall) Highly recommend that you make reservations as it appears to be always busy.

This review of Goa Kitchen is based on my lunch experience. Sometimes dining out is really about an experience, especially in one of the restaurants inside Bayview Village Shopping Centre. Goa Kitchen does delivers. The decor is plush, fancy and welcoming. Love the darker bold colour themes. The huge mirrors, the chandeliers really set the mood. Attentive service is top notch. Water glasses never empty. Plates cleared out as soon as they were empty. Staff making sure you have everything you need and more. But we are here for the food after all. Lunch main course which includes naan or rice starting at $18. They also have prix for $29. Price is reasonable for the location and ambience. Is this "real" Indian food? I would say more a fusion. The use of spices definitely been toned down and the dish less oily compared to other Indian restaurant. Does it make the food less tasty? Halal Goat Roast ($18) with naan was tender and moist. I love how it was served bone in. The masla based stew was flavourable with a little kick. I did request extra spicy but nothing their house made hot sauce could not fix. I have never been to Goa and next time maybe I can try one of their Goa seafood dish. Yes that would be another visit in the future.

    Cauliflower, black dal, butter chicken

Tried takeout from here during covid and was really impressed with the food. We ordered garlic naan and basmati rice to eat with butter chicken, black dal, and kung pao cauliflower. Everything tasted really delicious and the rice was fragrant. Their cauliflower and garlic naan were definitely my favorite. The dal paired up very well with the rice and naan. The butter chicken was just okay and could have been spicier. I don't get Indian food very often but this might change. Price was also fair- we spent about $50 for 3 people and had leftovers. Wish they had a location downtown!

    - Wait staff was great, always attentive and helpful. Quick to address any questions or concerns. Very much appreciated. - We were a party of 10 and our order came out correct and at the same time so none of us were left waiting. - Flavours were great but not authentic - thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Cafreal and would highly recommend this appetizer. Though this place is considered upscale, I didn't find that the price justifiable. As much as I enjoyed the flavours, this would not be considered authentic Goan. The chicken was quite tough to chew in my Chicken Xacuti. Again I really liked the flavour but the chicken was a little offputting. It's a nice place but I wouldn't come back. Mostly because I'm quite far from the place and because I don't feel that the price is justifiable.

Maybe my expectations were so high, but I don't think Goa lived up to them. It was pretty good, though for a pretty pricey place, I was expecting more. My wife and I ordered a bunch of stuff to share: - Butter Naan: Flat, but not overly so. Buttery, a bit too much. - Short Rib Samosas: Pretty interesting appetizer. I actually liked the contrasting sweet-ish sauce with the kick of the samosas themselves. The shirt rib was also very tender. - Wagy Beef Kebab: The beef was tender, though the flavouring was just ok. The most interesting part for me was the sorpotal sauce, which kinda gave a unique taste to the dish. - Goan Seafood Curry: I was so excited to try this dish because it had the Goan promise plus I love seafood. Was left disappointed since there wasn't as much seafood as I would've wanted for $26. That said, the curry sauce was good - not overly spicy but still very flavourful. (Think I'm sensing a theme with Goa and its sauces.) - Mango Kulfi: Strong mango flavour, which is a big plus. The chefs at Goa obviously know how to cook since most of the stuff is executed very well. Also, the sauces across all the dishes we had were also amazing. I guess it was the base star of each dish (seafood, beef) that, while good, I was left wanting for more. And therefore that makes Goa a try-once for me.

Goa Kitchen is located inside Bayview Village mall near the Oliver and Bonacini western entrance at the south side of the mall. OK so it's very infrequent that I have Indian cuisine but to be honest I think this place may have just opened up my palette to a lot of great new flavors. While the name is Goa Kitchen it would sort of imply the Goa region which is the south western area on the Arabian sea where the climate is tropical, the beaches are turquoise and the culture has a Portuguese influence. The food, well there are a few dishes that may reflect that influence. The first actual thing on the menu, cashews peri peri are a snack dish of crunchy, spiced nuts for sharing. While there are beef dishes, one of the appetizers we ended up trying was the beef short rib samosas which were not your every day samosa. They were split to have the tender meat for show, exposed in the familiar pastry with a nice burst of flavor. The Sriracha chilli cauliflower reminded me of a vegan "Korean fried chicken". It was tasty and had a kick. For mains we really went all out. There was a party of 6 so we went to town on this: Butter Chicken Porcini - a nice orange, mildly sweet makhana sauce. Even though butter chicken is a well known dish I really like what they've done with it with the mushrooms. Chicken Xacuti - this is another orange dish (a bit darker than the butter chicken) but completely different with the much added spicy kick at the end. There's a tang with the coconut and lemon flavor but the chilli flavor while spicy doesn't overwhelm keeping the flavor perhaps hot (for my wife for sure) but not strong in the heat but robust in the flavor. Beef Short Ribs Vindaloo - this was the dish I had ordered. The description as follows: Vindaloo glazed, celeriac puree, oven dried tomators, cippolini onions. So with the vegetable sauce comes the most tender large chunks of tender beef that can possibly be had. These pieces of meat were firm yet could be cut with a spoon, the spoon used for serving with the smooth sauce that goes with it and the tender meat was absolutely divine. I loved this dish all out. Branzino Ambotik - this is a sea bass in an Ambotik (I had to look it up) is a tangy and hot combo. I only had a small piece of this but it was very good. Some of the other dishes I didn't end up trying were the lamb Biryani and the lamb chops. I wasn't in the mood for lamb really as I had a lot of it last week. The sides I had ordered were the coconut rice and the garlic naan with chili flakes. I have to say this meal is exemplified when you have more dishes to share and try because everything while stands firmly by itself is better when each dish supplements each other in flavor and with different heat levels, spiciness and textures. As far as the service went our server knew the menu quite well and was even able to make some recommendations that he thought we would enjoy. I liked the fact that we had a nice variety of dishes to sample from each other in a group our size and while the group of us agreed to sort of go family style, this is not necessarily the default serving style. The fact that the accompaniments are separate (rice, naan) sort of encouraged us that we didn't have our "own" plates and that the dishes were definitely generous and large enough to sample and share. This was an absolutely amazing meal.

This was a somewhat planned visit this spot. Having made the reservations before hand with puzzling seating options (outdoor and indoor while the entire seating is inside the mall!) Our party showed up on time and were seated promptly. All of us decided to go with the 3 course chef menu (you get to pick two small plates of which one has to be vegetarian) and one main with the exception of the crab curry per person. They didn't have blanche de chambley that day and the draft I tried wasn't to my liking so stuck with a generic pilsner. One of us ordered a virgin drink and enjoyed it. Here is a play by play Potato app hmm more of a filler item imo with the pomegranate seeds adding a surprise element. vegetable samosa decent for what it is spiced well Eggplant. I enjoy my eggplant now so preferred it over the other vegetarian options. Calamari. Spiced well and packs a decent kick. Good for sharing. Shrimp. Smaller serving again spiced well though very similar to calamari in terms of the spice mix. Beef kebab. Things are turned up a notch here as the sauce packed a wallop of flavor and heat. Good way to balance the beef fat. Definitely worth trying if you like your heat. Dry mutton. Cooked well here as it was nice and tender and bite sized pieces. One of the better mutton dishes which is usually not done well at restaurants. Beef rib. Falling apart and sauce was worth mopping up with naan. I enjoy my beef rib so liked it a lot. Fish curry. I was looking forward to this dish as goan cuisine is known for seafood that's spiced well. Hmm decent but a bit of a let down after the higher standards set for other mains. The nan was decent with the rice being ok. This place is worth a visit if these flavors appeal to you. 4 stars and I am eyeing the crab curry for my next visit.

This is a review for delivery…read more At My Roti Place, the filling of their veggie samosas ($5.95 for two) is even more reminiscent of spring: the potatoes are mashed and mixed with peas and other vegetables to create an airy light bite. Meanwhile, the wrapper is still a thicker variety that soaks in the oil - it would be great if these were drained a bit longer - so it's not necessarily fully summer friendly. Since it was my first visit, a classic roti seemed like a smart start, the shell is super thin and slightly chewy so that it helps hold together the thick saucy filling but melts away as you're eating. These are a knife and fork eat as the saag paneer roti ($11.95) incorporated huge chunks of the soft Indian cheese and plenty of thick green spinach sauce that just tingles the tongue at the medium spice level - I think I can advance a step in my next order. While the spinach-based roti was tasty, the mom's classic curry was even better and will become my go-to sauce mixed with any protein - a safe combination is pairing it with chicken ($12.95). My Roti Place doesn't skimp on the meat as there were large pieces of chicken breast scattered throughout. I do need to figure out how to best re-heat the roti the next day. The go-to toaster oven method was decent and created a bit of crunch around the taller edges, but the centre was still so mushy. Maybe I'll toast it in a frying pan next time to develop a crust on all sides. The dinner arrived with complimentary fried chip rings (savoury with a hint of spice) and dessert. Normally, I've shy away from gulab jamun as they are too sugary for my liking. My Roti Place's version is a perfect balanced ending - I can best describe it as an old fashion plain Timbit soaked in a sweet thin sauce, you'd associate with crème caramel. It's absolutely delicious.

For our main, we decided to try the Chicken Tikka Dosa ("Stuffing of white meat chicken, bell peppers, and onions"), which comes with "two Cold Chutneys, Coconut and Tomato, and Sambhar Lentil Soup." It's good, but the food definitely suffered in the journey from the restaurant to our apartment. It turns out dosas don't really travel all that well, as it became kind of hard around the edges and soggy in the middle. However, the chicken tikka inside was really, really tasty, and the accompanying soup was just as delicious. I probably wouldn't ever order a dosa for delivery again, especially when the roti/rice option is right there.

For mains we order malai kofta and dal makhni with garlic naan. Our server told us the kofta was a little on the sweet side but suggested it could be made savoury if we preferred. We did that it was great. Best malai kofta I have had in some time. Dal was excellent also. For desert we shared the rasmalai tiramisu which was excellent. It was tiramisu where the lady fingers were soaked in the liquid from rasmalai and topped with a piece of rasmalai and pistachios. It was really delicious. I have also mention the service was excellent. Our server was attentive, offered excellent suggestions and checked on us regularly.
