I have eaten from here a few times. Yesterday I ordered take-out: Ambiyan Lamb Curry and Muttar Pulao (basmati rice with peas). The lamb was very tender and the curry sauce was flavourful with not too much spice. The rice was nothing special, but the serving was huge. It can definitely feed at least 4 people very well. I have tried other main dishes here as well and I have always been impressed. I've only actually eaten in at the restaurant once. It wasn't busy at all, so the service was very attentive. It's quite a comfortable environment. In terms of speed of service, I would say it was average, not fast but at the same time I wouldn't call it slow. I came here for the first time with a group of 13 for a special occasion lunch we were celebrating. The ambiance of the restaurant is great. I loved the decor and overall look. But the service was extremely slow. The frustrating part was that we were pretty much the only people in the restaurant and the service was this slow. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, but it wasn't. The orders were delivered hot and fresh. $20 seems a tad high, but if two of you are splitting one order with a side, then it's justifiable. The staff at the shop are super friendly and helpful as well. We didn't eat in, but the inside of the restaurant looked really nice. This was a good experience and we enjoyed our visit. A friend and I were planning to meet and catch up and he suggested Ambiyan, which is a secondary location of a Markham restaurant. Indian restaurants are very much hit or miss. Many lack sanitary conditions. Others believe Canadians want ketchupy tomato paste instead of Indian food. A few are authentic and do it right. Ambiyan is of that ilk. I was skeptical when I found the inset restaurant and walked towards it. The location does not scream 'authenticity.' There is a patio that looks more like a ice cream parlour's (the location has apparently been every other type of restaurant imaginable previously) and there is one of those Korean 'sushi' places across them where people go to eat 'bento' with spicy bazooka bomb salmon rolls or whatever. Ambiyan was a pleasant surprise and my friend was right. The setting was nice, the waitress and two waiters were polite, patient and nice and the food felt authentic. Not only the samosa, steamed rice and lamb briyani were tasty, rich and had perfect texture, the restaurant did not skimp on quantity, meat or presentation. Everything, including the chutney, tasted just right. If I have to level any criticism then the washroom needs an upgrade and the kitchen looked slightly run down as I walked by to visit the washroom, but Ambiyan (is the name inspired by a pill or something?) is firmly on my re-visit list. read more

I didn't even register the heat of the food until I was halfway through it, so busy was I with devouring everything. Flavours were absolutely on point - my only complaint is that the containers weren't airtight and quite a bit of oil got everywhere. Otherwise, portions were good and delivery was quick. I will say next time I'll definitely ask for the spice level to be kicked up, because even the ghost pepper spicy chicken bites weren't spicy enough for me. service was great, but we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time, they were just opening up. I'm family has just finished our second meal from Ambiyan and cannot say enough about how delicious it is. We are huge fans of Indian and this is as good as we have ever had. The food is absolutely fabulous and the service and generosity if the owners and staff is delightful. Horrible experience. It's hard to enjoy your dinner when your first bite has hair in it. Doesn't anyone wear hats or hairnets anymore. To make matters worse there is no recourse when ordering online delivery, the restaurant gets paid no matter what. I only gave one star because I had to. read more

We discovered this relatively new Indian restaurant while on a walk in our neighbourhood, and came by two days later to have a meal on their patio (they also do delivery and takeout). The menu is more innovative than most of their competitors, and the food was perfectly prepared. We had a southern Indian beef dish, a Madras fish curry, rice, naan, and a complementary amuse bouche. Food is good but delivery is TERRIBLE! I've been a customer for 2.5 years. At first everything went very smoothly. in the pat 18 months, I'm often told there is no driver to deliver. Tonight I booked a scheduled delivery with Uber EaT's. The food arrived stone cold. Ambiyan tried to blame it on Uber Eats and yes, they were part of the problem. My scheduled delivery window was 6 -- 6:30. On my bill the order it shows my order was started at 5:04 and picked up at 5:21. Of course it arrived cold!!!! How could it not because it was made way too early. Uber Eats guy picked the order up at 5:21 and I got it at 6:15. Of course it arrived cold!! Ambiyan started the problem and Uber Eats has no business taking almost an hour to deliver food and expect it to be hot (Which is the whole point of take out delivered food for which I paid a good tip and a delivery fee!!!!). Ordered take out through Ritual and although I waited 5-10 minutes longer than what was written on my app, it was definitely worth the wait! Friendly staff and amazing food (both quality and quantity). I ordered the Value Meal Small but it was a huge meal (could easily share with 2 people).
