a plate of indian food

I live in Pickering and I have ordered as a take out also dined in. dine in was not great. The take out was pretty good. Their kesari is least recommended. Ghee mysore masala dosa was the best. Expensive for sure though for a dosa. Thali was good! Service was good Ambience was okay

Masala chai - you know it is not a powdered mix when you see tea leaves floating. It was really good chai but I wish it was filtered better

Food is really good and we have not been disappointed. Gobi 65 is our go-to and tastes just like the ones in india. The weekend thali is a good addition and worth the price

I really like this spot. I really love their dosas. I am not a vegetarian but damn this place could probably convert me! The dosas are so good I would come and eat by myself just to satisfy my cravings...that I'm having right now as I type this review...noms! Paneer butter chicken..just...so delicious! We ordered this cauliflower manchurian gravy dish and ordered it mild but it was still spicy for me so be warned! But it was still so good..basically worth swearing it out while I ate lol My husband was initially very skeptical coming to a vegetarian resto. But tell me why he's ready to go back again tho??? We were both extremely happy campers :D

The best South Indian vegetarian place that I've eaten at - as good or maybe better than Nilgiris! The reason why the food pics are all half eaten is because we could not wait to tuck in! The aroma was authentic and so was the taste. We ordered Mysore Masala dosa, idly, vadas, ghee roast. We also ordered mango milk shake (different from mango lassi). Everything was delicious. The Vadas were totally awesome - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! The waiters were attentive and kept up with the customers inside. Highly recommended!!

Dosa (forgot which type)

Every dish we got was amazing. Idli was soft and fluffy. Dosas were crispy and the stuffed curried potatoes were flavourful. As with any South Indian restaurant, the spice level might be a bit much for some. But if you're looking for an authentic South Indian experience (Tamil music in the background included), look no further. This is easily one of the best in the GTA.

Lumbini Hut - Chicken Steamed Momos

I don't recall ever having Nepali cuisine so this was new to me. With Nepal being north of India…read moreand close to Mt Everest, there are similarities to Indian cuisine, with some Chinese influences. We started with their Steamed Chicken Momos. They were large, stuffed with chicken, and very delicious, especially with a spicy dipping sauce! That was soon followed by Dahi Puri, a crispy pastry shell with a savoury filling, topped with creamy yogurt. I've had similar dishes but these were the best versions ever! We also had their Chicken Choyela (served with crispy broken rice), an excellent Chicken Chow Mein, and Paratha flatbread. Additionally, we had a Mutton Thakali Set which is a combo meal with several components, all delicious. We were impressed. Every dish was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, with generous portions. I highly recommend Lumbini Hut! I'll definitely be back! PS - They have a large patio for outdoor dining in the summer, and a banquet hall in the basement for private events. They also have live entertainment on weekends.

The servers are wearing traditional garments and there is beautiful artwork on the walls . Friday - Sunday they even have live music. They have a large space in the restaurant for parties and events. After speaking with the owner, I found the upstairs event space can accommodate 50 patrons and the downstairs hall can host 200! Wow. Now onto the exciting part; The food. We ordered a couple different dishes and shared Dahi Puri Chicken Choyela Chicken Steam Momo's Chicken Chow Mein Thakali Set - Mutton Paratha I'm a huge Dahi Puri lover. This version blew me away... The flavor profile was perfection. ( My friend LOVED this dish as well. ) Next up were the Momo's. They're known for their Momo's. I do prefer a steamed Momo, so we went with steamed chicken. The portion size was quite large and the dipping sauce paired well; they had so much flavor. The next appetizer dish was one I have never had before; Chicken Choyela. I generally don't enjoy crunchy / textured foods but my friend quite enjoyed the puffed rice addition of this dish. The chicken had a unique flavor, unlike anything I've had before. It was solid. Their Chow Mein is another dish that they're known for. I seem to prefer noodles over rice these days. (But, I'm generally disappointed with most places noodles.) These were SUPERB! They had a smoky flavor to them and were a 10/10. I've had Thali but never a Thakali. While similar, they are different; We chose the mutton option. This dish was incredibly tender and bursting with flavors. Dish after dish impressed us. This spot hits all the right notes and is a definite must visit if you're in the area. My friend was so impressed, he's already planning his next visit!

I haven't had a chance to get to Zeera during the pandemic and I have missed it terribly so tonight I hopped onto Uber Eats and placed an order! I opted for some oldies but goodies and a couple of dishes I hadn't tried before. The bread basket is definitely a must have. All of their naan is delicious and I can never choose just one kind. Why not get an assortment? The other staple I ordered was Aloo Gobi. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked, as always. The dishes I hadn't tried before at Zeera were their chicken biryani and paneer korma. Both dishes were incredible and I will definitely order them again. I've had saag paneer countless times but I've never heard of paneer korma. I love korma so how could I go wrong? A definite winner! (I made my own Raita though.) When you compare price to serving sizes, it's one of the more expensive restaurants I go to but when I'm in the mood for Indian cuisine, Zeera is my go-to!

We tried the Amritsari paneer tikka - it's to die for! I really loved the marination on it wanted the flavour ( one of the best I have had in Canada). Also tried the Kadai Paneer( I could however handle more spice though). Their garlic Naan is amazing too. Overall, really loved the food( specifically the green chutney). The staff is really nice, loved the quick service. The place is little on the pricier side but great for special occasions!

I'm not sure how long they've been there or why I hadn't noticed them before but I'm always up for a good curry so we popped in for dinner. The menu is quite extensive and it took us a while to look over everything. Since this was our first time here, we opted for dishes we were familiar with so we could benchmark them against our favourite Indian restaurant. Our selection consisted of Aloo Gobi Masala, Tandoori Butter Chicken, Malai Lamb Curry, Super Naan, Masala Raita and Basmati Rice. Everything looked and smelled amazing so we were excited to tuck in. First, I have to say, this Aloo Gobi has set the bar higher and is now the benchmark by which all future Aloo Gobi dishes will be compared against. The curry dishes were also amazing. In fairness, ordering butter chicken was safe, but we also wanted to have something we hadn't tried before. You can never go wrong with lamb and the description of the Malai Lamb Curry sounded irresistible... it left me gobsmacked. Are you kidding me? This dish is packed with flavour and the lamb was cooked to perfection. We actually considered packing up the rest of the sauce to bring home. Honestly, it's that good. Definitely a MUST! Absolutely everything from start to finish was delicious. The owner/chef (?) came out for a chat and to regale us with descriptions of other dishes to try next time... and believe me, there will definitely be a next time! Have I just found my new favourite Indian restaurant? I think I might have.
