First time visiting this resto. We were the only ones when we visited. Another couple entered the resto about 15 min after we did. This was between 11am-12pm. Just a note, not an expert on Biryani by any means. Still trying different restos to see what we really like that are still in our budget.
Service : 4/5
Very friendly and helpful staff. Tho the 1 staff that was looking after the dining area at the time, was overly attentive IMO. Felt like she was hovering a bit. Tho she was very helpful in answering questions about our order along with promptly bringing a new pitcher of water.
Food : 4/5
We ordered : Chicken Pakora, $12.99 and Boneless Chicken Biryani, $15.99. The chicken pakora was crispy and had a bit of a spicy bite for us. We're not huge spice heads. Chicken Pakora was also tender inside. As for the Boneless Chicken Biryani, this was really tasty, tho I ended up drinking quite a bit of water, not sure if it was due to the spice level or the amount of sodium. The Chicken in the Biryani was very tender. We asked for the biryani to be on the mild level of spice. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cucumber Raita that came with the Biryani. The other sauce was good as well, tho I didn't catch the name, it had blended chickpeas in it and sesame seeds? and had a slight spice kick.
NOTE : For those that Manage Gout, likely chicken will be your main protein of choice. Along with an assortment of veggie options. Also, for those that enjoy Naan and have gout, be careful since some with gout can be triggered by the yeast in the Naan. I've only recently learned that I've been getting triggered by yeast and yeast-extracts.
Drinks :
We received an initial pitcher of water, and I requested a 2nd as well.
Portion Size Value for Money Spent : 4/5
Chicken Pakora, I feel for $12.99, the portioning is a bit on the underwhelming side. I felt the portion amount we received, should have been priced maybe around $8.00 considering this was a Starter/Appetizer item. I feel that appetizer pricing should not match or come close to an Entree dish pricing. Boneless Chicken Biryani, the bowl that arrived at the table was very deceiving, it didn't look like a lot at first glance...but we were not able to finish, ended up bringing the rest home with us. Easily enough for 2 to 3 ppl depending on appetite level. For $15.99 + HST this is a good size for sharing.
