Absolutely worth the drive from Salem, though the GPS is a bit wacky and we passed it while looking on the opposite side of the street. Once located, we chose one of the two drive through sides and ordered a cheeseburger combo and a double cheeseburger, drink, and order of onion rings. The menu features both a small and large, and I'm glad I asked about the size. Small was plenty enough for two to share with a lot left over. Likewise, the combo includes a bag full of crinkle cut fries, both served with a fry sauce - so if you prefer ketchup, you should ask for it. They also have fresh made shakes with ice cream, milk, and flavors, but didn't receive their delivery and were unable to accommodate orders. There were benches in a grassy area next to the stand, but no table. We drove to the nearest park in hopes of finding a picnic table, but ran into the same issue at the city 'park' in front of the courthouse. Both burgers were juicy, with cheddar (from multiple choices available) and loaded with toppings on a soft bun. I prefer a leaf lettuce and got several chunks of yellowing lettuce from a bagged salad type, but overall, it didn't detract. Onion rings were piping hot and perfectly crisp, as were the fries. If you've got a hankering for a burgers, there's a reason this place has been around so long. They'll fix you up and keep you coming back. We're already planning a trip back for a shake having experienced the love they infused into the burgers!

Tastes just like the good old days when his dad had the Dandy Burger here in town! The fries are out of this world!

I typically order a double cheeseburger meal and it's absolutely the best burger I've ever eaten.

After a booking error on our end, the hotel was able to get us a room for Thursday. We thought we had reserved a room for Thursday through Monday. So it was a huge relief to get that worked out. We did have to move rooms Friday, but that's not the hotel's fault. As an EVS worker for a large hospital, I tend to check everything. From high dust to floors and everything in between. I can tell that the employees take pride in their work. So kudos to the Housekeeping staff. Also, to the Housekeeper who found something we had left behind and returned in to us, you're awesome. I wish I had gotten your name. Thank you. Now to the front desk. Monica. Monica, you were always kind, eager to help, and an employee that every establishment desires to have. I know it had to be a crazy weekend due to the college graduations, but you rose to the top and did it with a smile. Thank you. Now the restaurant staff. You all are awesome too. After a couple of disappointing dinners at local restaurants, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Delicious. The staff was friendly, professional, and our meals were great. Thank you. The views from the rooftop are gorgeous. Parking isn't bad. The rooms are clean. The property is clean. The staff are amazing. Although we no longer have kids in Oregon (two of our kids graduated from Oregon State University) we love Independence and we love the Independence Hotel.

We kept hitting our toes on the metal foundation frame of the beds, which was frustrating, but the beds themselves were comfortable. The breakfast was standard hotel fare but perfect for our needs. We would return.

A great option for breakfast and dinner. I've been here for…read morebreakfast before, and it was quite good. I stopped by on a weekday afternoon, and decided to sit outside. THe seating area was great, with a roof providing shade but still allowing for fresh air. Service was very friendly and very attentive. I ordered the Bacon Cheddar burger and my companion went with the Cowboy Philly Sandwich, both with fries. The Bacon Cheddar burger was great. A thick beef patty was paired with bacon and cheddar. The sauce was a nice, creamy 1000 island. It was rich and messy. The fries were good too. The brioche bun was soft and rich; it held up nicely. The Cowboy Philly Sandwich was an interesting combination of beef brisket, pepper jack cheese, grilled onions and red peppers. The sauce was a chipotle mayonnaise. There was slaw on the side. I just had a bite, but it all tasted good and went together well. This is a solid place for a good breakfast or lunch/dinner with great service.

I've only been in a few dine ins that went above and beyond friendly hospitality. That's a lot in these times. Kudos to this place. When you walk in and see that the lighting and windows all over is nice cause you can actually see the menu when ordering. The menu is big with lots to choose from. So yes! Go and eat and get full with lots of food. I guaranteed I'll be back. So if you're in the area at anytime of the day. Stop and enjoy a good meal with your family and or friends. It's that kind of place.

Walked in expecting a normal dinner, immediately realized we had made a tactical error in the best way possible. The place was packed, loud, and had that kind of energy you can't really fake. Solid 10/10 on vibes if you're in the mood for it (and even if you're not, you adjust quickly). Despite being clearly short staffed, the service was impressively good. Not "everything is perfectly on time" good, but "everyone is working hard, communicating, and actually cares" good. They were very upfront and apologetic about the delays, which honestly went a long way. Food came out a bit slower than usual (again, not surprising given the circumstances), but overall I'd put it at a strong 8/10. Nothing overhyped, just well-executed and worth ordering again. I had the classic lager and it was meh. This is very subjective I realize but I'd rate it a 4 or 5/10. All things considered, it could have easily been a frustrating experience walking in on one of the busiest nights of the year, but it wasn't. Credit to the staff for keeping things running and keeping the tone positive. I'd come back, ideally on a slightly less festive evening, but also kind of glad I saw it at full capacity.
