Absolutely worth the drive from Salem, though the GPS is a bit wacky and we passed it while looking on the opposite side of the street. Once located, we chose one of the two drive through sides and ordered a cheeseburger combo and a double cheeseburger, drink, and order of onion rings. The menu features both a small and large, and I'm glad I asked about the size. Small was plenty enough for two to share with a lot left over. Likewise, the combo includes a bag full of crinkle cut fries, both served with a fry sauce - so if you prefer ketchup, you should ask for it. They also have fresh made shakes with ice cream, milk, and flavors, but didn't receive their delivery and were unable to accommodate orders. There were benches in a grassy area next to the stand, but no table. We drove to the nearest park in hopes of finding a picnic table, but ran into the same issue at the city 'park' in front of the courthouse. Both burgers were juicy, with cheddar (from multiple choices available) and loaded with toppings on a soft bun. I prefer a leaf lettuce and got several chunks of yellowing lettuce from a bagged salad type, but overall, it didn't detract. Onion rings were piping hot and perfectly crisp, as were the fries. If you've got a hankering for a burgers, there's a reason this place has been around so long. They'll fix you up and keep you coming back. We're already planning a trip back for a shake having experienced the love they infused into the burgers!

Tastes just like the good old days when his dad had the Dandy Burger here in town! The fries are out of this world!

I love the view of the Willamette River. I love the washroom, shower, sink, and the lights in the room, the mirrors in the room made the room even brighter and bigger. The door to the washroom, sliding door. Even though I didn't use the iron/board, I like the fact they have those. The rooms were clean, like they cared and pillows and bed comfortable. I love the fact, they have soft, cushion, velvety chairs, to matched the room. Negative: The desk chair, cushion good, but I sink down so low as I sit down to use my laptop on the desk. It does swivel! We stayed here two nights. The buffet breakfast, the only meat was bacon. Not a lot of selection for dinner, that's when we ordered Caesar Salad and Pasta with Grilled Chicken (they need to improve that). Bonus for the extra 4th of July chocolates, we got when we got in the hotel, and during the fireworks! July 4th, another positive, we were able to have front row seats for the fireworks! It's right on your face, and because of the wind gusts, we seldom smell smoke, and I didn't think it was too loud. (I've had relatives who watched the Oaks Park in Portland, and they said it was TOO loud). I think the wind carried it over further, so the sound was OK with me. My husband couldn't find his iPad, and the hotel said they found it, from the same room we were at. (It turned out, he found it in the truck, so we didn't have to drive back to Independence to pick it up). (We forgot to let the staff know, we were there for 2 reasons: to do my 4th of July events in Monmouth, and to celebrate with a big bang, our 50th Wedding Anniversary). I can't remember, the last time we were able to watch the fireworks together, by ourselves. This was a treat for us! We would like to come back in 2025, same time, same days, facing the river again! Thank you!

Walked in expecting a normal dinner, immediately realized we had made a tactical error in the best way possible. The place was packed, loud, and had that kind of energy you can't really fake. Solid 10/10 on vibes if you're in the mood for it (and even if you're not, you adjust quickly). Despite being clearly short staffed, the service was impressively good. Not "everything is perfectly on time" good, but "everyone is working hard, communicating, and actually cares" good. They were very upfront and apologetic about the delays, which honestly went a long way. Food came out a bit slower than usual (again, not surprising given the circumstances), but overall I'd put it at a strong 8/10. Nothing overhyped, just well-executed and worth ordering again. I had the classic lager and it was meh. This is very subjective I realize but I'd rate it a 4 or 5/10. All things considered, it could have easily been a frustrating experience walking in on one of the busiest nights of the year, but it wasn't. Credit to the staff for keeping things running and keeping the tone positive. I'd come back, ideally on a slightly less festive evening, but also kind of glad I saw it at full capacity.

The food is really good, almost all handmade (such as the fresh bread option.). They have a new specials board and try new things out, which are usually variations of the menu, so it's nothing too jarring. For example, I tried a breakfast bowl that had German sausage instead of sausage. No big change but still a nice addition. Seating area has been changed a bit to take out more booths and make them tables, but there are a few booths. Service is fast and friendly, and everyone is usually on top of what's going on. Kitchen is in plain view, so nothing being hidden in how they cook or what their process is. This is a great institution in Dallas, locally owned, and the owner cares about how her business serves people. One time my order got missed somehow, and not only was my server upset about it, but the owner came and told me she'd comp me that breakfast and my next one. And she did, even though I didn't remind her the next time. Seriously great place. Check it out if you're in town. The only reason it isn't franchised with lines out the door all the time is that there isn't a lot of reason to come to Dallas, Oregon. So consider it a hidden gem. :)
