The river right next to the hotel. Easy 3 minute walk.

I loved The Independence Hotel! The views are spectacular and were my absolute favorite part. Our room was super clean. The staff could not be more friendly. The area is very walkable and the town is very cute. I recommend taking a walk down the Main Street and checking out the shops. There is a little of everything, a couple sports bars, some knick knack shops, a bakery and more. There is a restaurant in the hotel that offers a free breakfast buffet, which is very good. We tried their late night bites as well, which was a little over priced, but still good. The drinks are creative and strong at the bar. I highly recommend The Independence Hotel.

I couldn't imagine how this place could get better. The way it was architected, the furniture they put in, the space itself... I was going to sit out on the patio (brand new, as of my stay on 07Jul2021) but the bartender (very friendly) recommended checking out the rooftop. I could imagine it was better than the patio but sure enough! My room (204) was in the NW corner and was massive. Beautiful bathroom and wonderfully quiet. A semi-good view of the river but mainly looking towards the downtown area with massive windows and heavy light-blocking curtains. If I lived near this place, I'd want to make it an occasional weekend getaway, it's that good!

Room 422 Eola-Amity Suite: River Views

Stayed: Aug. 5th to Aug 7th, 2020 (2 nights) Room 422 (Eola Amity Suite), 2 Adults The Independence Hotel is the centerpiece of a major revitalization project, that is being undertaken in the heart of downtown Independence. A multiple sized market priced apartment complex, Independence Landing & Osprey Point, is being built right next door to the hotel... With the hotel opening late 2019 to early 2020, everything in this hotel is still fresh & new, from the landscaping to the room furnishings. With the Willamette River, a stones throw away from the hotel, it is the focal point of the Independence Hotel. With landscaped walkways/bike paths and the Riverview park adjacent to the hotel, it doesn't get any easier to explore the outdoors from this hotel... All in all, the staff was courteous and professional. However, on several occasions, when walking pass the lobby, two hotel staff members were having a conversation, at the front desk, but they did not bother to look up and acknowledge us or any other guests for that matter...the Contemporary decor that is seen throughout the hotel common areas and rooms gives this hotel a crisp energized feel, that blends in very well with the natural surroundings outside the hotel....At this 75-room boutique hotel, its the little details, such us the numerous in-room charging outlets to the 4 electric car charging parking stalls, that makes this hotel unique and the potential to be a special place to stay.

The house itself was gorgeous and was exactly what I was looking for to celebrate my birthday on April 29th! The bear claw soaking tub along with the lounge couch and starry ceilings were my favorite part! Eli and Emily were awesome. I felt like we were eating food from a fancy hotel restaurant and couldn't have asked for a better way to finish off our B&B experience. Although we didn't get to meet the resident cats, we left feeling blessed and would recommend this place to our family and friends. Thanks Eli and Emily for a memorable experience!

The room was very well appointed, nice features like a wet bar area, seating, separate TVs if one desired. Super comfy bed, great environmental controls (heat and a/c) were very quiet also. In fact all the employees were very cheerful and welcoming, darn pleasant. But above all, and far so, is the Japanese garden attached to the hotel. It is worth the trip all on it's own. Spectacular for it's size, only an acre- centered around a gorgeous water feature of a huge koi pond, with many lovely spaces to just chill and appreciate the beauty of the garden.

I'm INCREDIBLY picky and to say that this was super clean is a lot for me. It's so clean. Modern. Nice. The carpet was so clean that my socks didn't even get dirty walking around without shoes on. The service was great. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The staff at the free breakfast were nicer too. I'm vegan and got an English muffin with peanut butter and jelly and coffee with Silk vanilla almond milk. Yay breakfast!! Thank you Best Western for the overnight respite that was much needed.

It's a historic landmark house in a picturesque mid-Willamette Valley location East of Salem and within easy striking distance of the Cascade Mountains as well as many of Oregon's prime winery destinations. It's not even that far to the coast, for that matter, or to marvelous state parks like Silver Falls, one of Oregon's most popular for locals and outside visitors alike. The downtown is quaint, walkable, and classy, with excellent shopping, coffee, and dining out options (esp. the Silver Grille). And of course the owner, Nancy K., is approachable, animated, and articulate, making you feel smarter and more sophisticated simply by being in her presence. The rooms upstairs (there are 3) have distinctive flair and unique features: Sara Jane's room has a wonderful Victorian "fainting couch," which is comfortable enough to fall asleep on (trust me on this). Eleanor's room has an octagonal turret in the tiled bathroom which lets light pour in and reflect off the pale white walls and porcelain surfaces. If you haven't taken an actual reclining bath in a long while, this is your chance. But for all these amenities - and they are indeed impressive - the most remarkable feature of Adams House is the library and LP record collection, which Nancy has meticulously organized in one of the second floor rooms and made available for guest use. I spent several hours perusing the book shelves on my first visit, reading, browsing, and jotting down titles and authors of interest. It was like being in a bookstore. On my second visit, I ventured into the music collection, starting with a beautiful recording from 1955 of Glenn Gould's "Goldberg Variations" by J.S. Bach. Inspired by the experience, I went back to the shelves and located a recording from the 1980s by a Czech pianist of Beethoven's "Diabelli Variations." By the time I was done listening, breakfast was ready. What a nice way to start the morning, don't you think? Visiting Silverton and staying at Adams House is not so much "stepping back" in time as it is "stepping sideways" in time: moving horizontally away from the routines of your regular days and nights and experiencing, however briefly, an alternative universe: one in which music still plays on records, books still are written on paper, and tea is still served on silver in fine china. It's easy to appreciate - and hard to leave behind when you return to the road. I doubt that you will be disappointed by your initial visit. You'll likely return in the future, just to make sure that it wasn't just a dream, after all.
