Wow. Where to begin!?! My boyfriend and I are from Los Angeles CA and my dear friend had her wedding in Sheridan, OR on July 1st 2017. We made the drive due to the camping adventure to follow the wedding and were looking for a nice, comfortable accommodation close to the ceremony location. WE ABSOLUTELY MADE THE BEST DECISION with Amity Flats. The moment we arrived we were greeted by the manager, Alex. He was incredibly kind and accommodating to us Californians! We stayed in the flat Nekia and we're thrilled when we walked in. So beautiful and you could feel the effort and love put into creating this space. We we're greeted with wine, fresh cherries, honey, and fresh eggs and a special soft boiled egg recipe from the owners. It was AMAZING! must try! Thank you for the wonderful stay and we will absolutely be back!

    The Nekia.

Barb and Rob were great hosts - communicating with us beforehand, helping us out when we needed an extra rollaway bed.

It had just snowed, and the whole area felt quiet and peaceful -- the perfect setting for a getaway. The hotel itself is beautiful without trying too hard. A room nearby had been used in a Helen Hunt movie, which was a fun surprise. Thoughtful details everywhere, but nothing over the top. They left us a little snack of locally grown walnuts -- such a simple touch but it totally hit the spot after a cold day out wine tasting. It's in a great location in McMinnville, easy walk to restaurants and shops, and super close to a lot of tasting rooms. I'd definitely stay again.

As others have said, they are one of very few lodging options in this area, so they do have a captive audience. The $500/night room rate is ridiculous, considering the lack of any real amenities. It felt like an economy hotel that tricked you into thinking it was fancy using high prices, really nice decor and an espresso machine. There was no soundproofing at all and you could hear every word being said in the next room. Bring your white noise machine if you are a light sleeper. Front desk staff could benefit from hospitality training (smiles are free). On a positive note - great location, the beds were very comfy and pretty fresh flowers in the lobby.

Wished we had packed two smaller suitcases rather than one large case, but we managed to get it up the stairs and to our room without any trouble. Loved the easy keyless access and simple check out. The location could not get any better. It is so convenient to all of the stores and restaurants. Our unit was like a small apartment. One small room with a couch, high bar table, small fridge, sink and microwave. That small room led to a pass through toilet/shower room. The shower was tiny and the doors to the toilet/shower room were just sliding barn doors so you literally hear everything in there (not sure if I'm a fan of that part). After walking through the shower/toilet room, you hit your bedroom. It was a nice size. For those with mobility issues, there is no elevator and the units are all on the second floor so you will need to climb stairs. Communication with Douglas on Third was excellent. They had very detailed email information on how to access the building, how to access your room, parking, etc. You may also text them to communicate. I would absolutely stay here again!

After a booking error on our end, the hotel was able to get us a room for Thursday. We thought we had reserved a room for Thursday through Monday. So it was a huge relief to get that worked out. We did have to move rooms Friday, but that's not the hotel's fault. As an EVS worker for a large hospital, I tend to check everything. From high dust to floors and everything in between. I can tell that the employees take pride in their work. So kudos to the Housekeeping staff. Also, to the Housekeeper who found something we had left behind and returned in to us, you're awesome. I wish I had gotten your name. Thank you. Now to the front desk. Monica. Monica, you were always kind, eager to help, and an employee that every establishment desires to have. I know it had to be a crazy weekend due to the college graduations, but you rose to the top and did it with a smile. Thank you. Now the restaurant staff. You all are awesome too. After a couple of disappointing dinners at local restaurants, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Delicious. The staff was friendly, professional, and our meals were great. Thank you. The views from the rooftop are gorgeous. Parking isn't bad. The rooms are clean. The property is clean. The staff are amazing. Although we no longer have kids in Oregon (two of our kids graduated from Oregon State University) we love Independence and we love the Independence Hotel.

We kept hitting our toes on the metal foundation frame of the beds, which was frustrating, but the beds themselves were comfortable. The breakfast was standard hotel fare but perfect for our needs. The room was very well appointed, nice features like a wet bar area, seating, separate TVs if one desired. Super comfy bed, great environmental controls (heat and a/c) were very quiet also. The bathroom was exceptional, most wonderful shower in North America. The breakfast was also darn good, lots of choices and very friendly service. In fact all the employees were very cheerful and welcoming, darn pleasant. But above all, and far so, is the Japanese garden attached to the hotel. It is worth the trip all on it's own. Spectacular for it's size, only an acre- centered around a gorgeous water feature of a huge koi pond, with many lovely spaces to just chill and appreciate the beauty of the garden.

I pulled up hotels on Yelp, and this was the first choice. I thought OMG this has got to be expensive. Nope. Affordable. And VERY VERY nice. I'm INCREDIBLY picky and to say that this was super clean is a lot for me. It's so clean. Modern. Nice. The carpet was so clean that my socks didn't even get dirty walking around without shoes on. The service was great. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The staff at the free breakfast were nicer too. I'm vegan and got an English muffin with peanut butter and jelly and coffee with Silk vanilla almond milk. Yay breakfast!! It was quiet, clean, a great price and just what we needed for an overnight stop before we figured out new tires and the long drive to N. California. Thank you Best Western for the overnight respite that was much needed.
