We were scheduled to stay just one night, but I wish it could've been more. The check-in was friendly and we even received a little goodie bag, which my 10 year-old son absolutely loved. From check in, it was a great experience. It was a last minute booking, we got the smallest room & it was just fine for a night. Everything was clean, & linens all fresh. I'm very pleased with this cute little spot. It's the little things like the bathroom fan was GREAT! Meaning I didn't have to wait 30 minutes for the steam to clear out so I could get ready. The shower wasn't high pressure so if you have really thick hair, maybe not the best for washing. No biggie. The water was nice and hot, for two showers in a row. The bed was really comfortable, parking was easy. There are a few things within walking distance and the beach is easily walkable as well. I'd recommend a stay here. Not your typical motel. My brother and I stayed here and were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in a 2 bedroom with a full kitchen. The rooms were very clean and everything we needed was provided. The owner said our room was scheduled to be remodeled but it still looked great. The next morning I got a peak at a couple of the rooms as they were cleaning and they were gorgeous! What an incredibly cute, "homey" place to stay!! If you want to be transported back to the classic 1950's style motel, with all the impossibly cute "kitsch" you can possibly stand, WITHOUT having to pass up today's modern conveniences like good, reliable wifi and cable TV with 5 zillion channels, PLUS only have to walk a short distance to a BEAUTIFUL stretch of beach and several great bars/restaurants, this is your destination in Pacific City!! We decided to try to stay away from the most crowded spots as much as possible on this trip down the Oregon coast (sorry, Cannon Beach, Lincoln City...) and this place was a great find for doing just that! Tucked away at the end of a mostly residential side street, bluer than the sky, with all sorts of great nautical-themed knick knacks and beautiful flowers. The quick and friendly check in will start you on your way to a different era (a real KEY, not a electronic card!!) and your short walk to your room will remind you you've hit the "twilight zone" of how things used to be before the corporate world took over. We had a clean, cozy, queen-sized room, no kitchen, but all the comforts of home. We settled in then took a hike to the nearby beach to catch the sunset (quite an uphill climb on the dunes to the beach, but sooooooooo worth it!!) then had a few cold ones and some yummy apps. at a local, walking distance sports bar. There's also a Mexican Restaurant, a wine bar, and diner/breakfast spot all in walking distance... Decisions, decisions!! Quiet night, parking right outside our room, easy check out, and Shell Gas right on the opposite corner to fill up on your way out of town.... SCORE!! read more

My husband and I stayed in a family suite for almost a week and what a divine pleasure The Anchorage Motel is!!! The owners treated us like family and were so accommodating. I've stayed at high end, low end and everything in between but this place was beyond clean and the pride of ownership is blatantly obvious. They recommended some great cafes/restaurants within walking distance and across the street you have a mini mart in case you forgot anything, it's beyond convenient. The beach is also within walking distance and gorgeous sites are just everywhere you look. Thank you for providing such an exceptional place to stay and can't wait to be back!!! We stayed the weekend at anchorage motel in the loft suite. It was roomy, very clean and honestly the the best experience we have ever had at a hotel at the coast. I'm not sure what the difference between a motel and hotel is (this was our stay at a motel) but our stay was better then most hotels we have stayed at (and we have stayed at many high end hotels worldwide). The owners where amazing and extremely accommodating. Parking was also extremely convenient (directly in front of our room). There is a lot of privacy with the layout of the motel and we didn't have any noise disturbance. I highly recommend the anchorage motel if you are planning to visits the coast. Last but not least the cost per night is beyond reasonable! read more

Our experience was wonderful! I can not say enough about the services and owners who were incredibly gracious and accommodating. We stayed overnight to enjoy the Father's Day weekend out on the sand dunes on ATVs and our stay at the motel was an ending to a really enjoyable stay in Pacific City. The motel was quaint, comfortable, well kept, clean and the family suite was really roomy for our party of four. It is within walking distance to a few yummy places to eat and to the beach. We were given a little welcome bag with some goodies and a great recommendation for breakfast the next day. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who asks. Had a really pleasant experience at this motel! We booked the king suite for a night and it was worth the money spent. The check in process was very easy, that staff was very nice, and the room was very clean! The hotel is very close to a couple restaurants and a quick 5 minute drive to the beach and Cape Kiwanda. The beds were very comfortable and we had no issues with our stay. Will stay again if I find myself back in Pacific City!! read more

This hotel has had some major improvements in the past year. We stayed in a cute 1 bedroom suite that was clean, decorated with new modern furniture, bedding and bathroom fixtures. It smelled clean and fresh and the kitchen was well stocked with everything needed. Bonus kitchen has a full oven, not just stove top. Nice big Smart TV to use your Netflix. The owners were really nice and we would stay there again. The double/queen bed seemed a little small and was not super comfortable but was okay. It had a memory foam mattress or topper on it so that is not always the best comfort wise to all. The cost was great and loved the spring special discount off as well. This little motel is run by a wonderful husband and wife team. They, and their staff, take great pride in the property and serving their guests. We have stayed at every hotel/motel/inn in Pacific City. The hotel has been around a long time, but there have been recent updates that make it really pleasant. It is clean and well kept. The beds were very comfortable. They are small cottages so the bathrooms are quite small but they certainly allow you to do what is needed. The bonus is that many of these rooms have a little kitchenette. For the price point that is an absolute win! We can't wait to go back and stay! read more

To start this review I want to clearly state that when I booked the room I thought I was booking a dog friendly room. It turns out that I misread the description. The owner of the property noticed that we left our dog in the room and told us that we had violated his policies by not reporting the dog and that we had 15 minutes to remove our stuff and get off the property before the Sherriff was called. The fact that we were removed from the property is somewhat understandable since they did not have another room to properly accomadate our dog. However, when I tried to explain that I made a mistake with the booking he called me a liar and a scammer multiple times. There is no reason you should ever talk to a customer this way. You don't know their circumstances. When I tried to calmly explain this to the owner he kept cutting me off. Also, the owner had a recording taken of the conversation which I would highly encourage him to publicly post. It will clearly state the accuracy of the statement I just made. read more

What a wonderful find! I stayed there (unit 5) after the Reach the Beach bicycle ride (from Portland to Pacific City) and was exhausted when I arrived. In the past after this ride, I've stayed at the more upscale and considerably more expensive (about 3 to 4X the price/hight) Inn at Cape Kiwanda. However, that place requires a minimum 2-night stay, and I couldn't stay 2 nights this time. So I took a gamble... The Anchorage Motel is no upscale hotel, so please set your expectations accordingly. However, it's cute, clean, retro, quiet (thank heavens!), and comfortable and has a bigger-than-mini fridge and kitchen (including all utensils), so it's perfect for longer stays if you have the time. Plus, if you can't put your cell phone or laptop down, there's free wifi. AND you're in walking distance to several good restaurants (we really liked Beach Wok) and the beach. The owner was also wonderfully kind and welcoming when I checked in--I have never experienced a friendlier and more gracious reception. Was it worth it to give up the ocean views at Inn at Cape Kiwanda for this experience? ABSOLUTELY! We'll definitely be back! read more

Landed at the Anchorage as I narrowed down the list of pet friendly lodging in Pacific City. I'm giving it four stars.....but don't think that means it is a four star Motel. It is a lovely hole in the wall rustic motel. Owners live on premises, so it was quiet and without any riff raff. Rooms were clean and quaint.....so quaint my husband couldn't fit on the toilet because his knees hit the sink....but no matter. The surroundings are decidedly nautical, and recently updated. No fear of going barefoot out of the shower here. New linoleum and fresh Burber carpet are nice touches. Sheets were clean, kitchen had coffee maker and full sized fridge, and there is talk of a courtyard out back which I never looked into. We paid $145 for a two bedroom "suite".....no doors on the bedrooms, just a curtain, but no matter, as we were just there for a family night on the beach....A bit high for what you get, but it IS a sleepy beach community, so I didn't mind. Plus, my dog was welcome...for a $15 fee :) Would I stay there again? Yes. That's all..... read more

Coming from the east coast, this is a very nice place. I wouldn't consider this in the motel category but in a hotel category. Doors open to the outside parking lot but it's quite nice and well lite. You don't hear your neighbor's through the walls. The unit I had, had two bedrooms and full kitchen and bathroom. It was well decorated and well stocked kitchen. Everything was clean. I felt very safe and bed was very comfortable. I was passing through town and I'd recommend staying here for a night or even a vacation for a couple nights. read more

For the price, this is a good little motel and we will probably return. The new owners are doing what they can with a very interesting property. A couple of observations and opinions: suggest less emphasis on the "boutique linens," which really aren't. Suggest a smaller fridge that can fit under the counter so that a nightstand with a lamp can fit by the bed. Suggest removing the dining table and chairs to make room for a bedside table and lamp on the other side (using a chair for a bedside table is tough) OR install wall-mounted bedside lights (the only light in the room was a very harsh ceiling light with the switch at the door.) Finally, suggest at least wall hooks as there is nowhere other than door knobs to hang even a coat. All that said, nice people, nice dog and cats and we'll probably return but will check out the other rooms before we do. read more

Lovely place to stay in Pacific City! We stayed in one of their cottages which was perfect for our family of 4 for the weekend. They had it all decorated for Christmas with an adorable hot cocoa bar. We stay at the Anchorage at least once a year...and we keep coming back. Let's first caveat the Anchorage as a charming, beachy hole in the wall. For the price you should NOT expect the Hilton. It. Is. Not. The. Hilton. The motel is kind of old, the beds are hard, and I think I had better linens and blankets in college...but it's clean, the kitchenette and refrigerator are very convenient, and reasonably priced for the area. They also accommodate pets which is a big plus for us. If you are just looking for a clean, inexpensive place to crash at the beach, I'd recommend it. PS-the owners are very nice too! If I could give a negative star I would. It was a very unpleasant experience that cost me way more than just the $70 something dollars a night or whatever it was I paid to stay there. The room was filthy and had BED BUGS! I encourage everyone to stay as far away from this motel as humanly possible. I even saw rat poop by the trash next to toilet... Its an old motel that was updated but needs a full blown reconstruction to be honest. I wish I had never step foot in this place and should have known better. I just hope my review helps others make the right decision to stay elsewhere. Also I got no refund for my experience even when bringing it to owners attention. So unprofessional. read more

First off this is a great staff. It is family owned so they really take pride in making sure you have the best stay. Checking in was easy. I met with Sam at check in. He right away made me and my family feel very welcome. He went over the layout of the town and the best places to eat and visit. The facilities are very clean. It is a bit older of an establishment so the appliances are not brand new but everything works. There is a grill that everyone can use and a nice back yard to lounge in and let your dog get outside. For the value this is one of the best places we have stayed at the Oregon Coast. We really felt welcome and all of our neighbors we met there felt the same way. My family will definitely be returning to do a week visit next time. read more

Old school funky. Much the same as it was when I stayed here as a kid in the early '70s. Quaint, comfortable and very reasonably priced (at least it was in early November, when I stayed.) New owners (maybe new to the hospitality biz too) might want to consider phones, irons and blow dryers in the rooms however. These are standard in virtually every hotel or motel in the country. Why they don't have them here is a bit of a mystery. In any event, I enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Anchorage Motel to anybody. read more

We stayed at the Anchorage in the one bedroom apartment/cottage, July 6 and 7. It was a lovely cottage. We could walk to him the beach. The Mexican restaurant next door was wonderful. Our cottage was ready when we arrived, clean and comfortable with a nautical theme. Very quiet and private and recently redone. We will stop again on our next visit west, probably for a few days longer. ( we were on a road trip). For the price, it is perfect. Owner seemed very nice and the studio room was what I expected, a bed, tv and shower. The "frig" was a little loud throughout the night and when my girl went to lay down there was a large roach on her pillow. Normally she would have freaked out but the fact she was in total awe of Pacific City the bug didn't bother her. But that roach is the reason why they get 3 stars instead of 4... read more

The Anchorage is a sweet place to stay and a great deal. Our room had a full kitchen, with everything you need. It's not plush, but it is perfectly clean, and everyone was very nice.
