The grounds are massive, and there's a lot of space to explore, but I will say the property wasn't quite the picturesque, "Instagram-worthy" destination I felt it was made out to be online. It's pretty in areas, but overall it feels more like a large, somewhat dated golf resort than the stylish Oregon coastal retreat I was expecting. The lobby and community areas are probably the prettiest part of the property, and they really do make an effort to be dog-friendly. Dogs are welcome throughout most of the lobby/common areas. They aren't allowed upstairs at The Attic, but you can order food from the restaurant and eat with your dog anywhere in the large community area downstairs, which is convenient. We did this one evening, although unfortunately we found the food itself pretty mediocre. I probably wouldn't recommend the restaurant based on the food alone, but the convenience is nice when you're staying on the property. One of the cutest touches is their daily "Yappy Hour," which starts around 3-4 p.m. and includes dog treats and bone broth. Our Pomeranian, Penny, quickly figured this out and started expecting a stop at the Yappy Hour station every single time we walked through the lobby. It's little things like this that really do make the property feel welcoming to people traveling with their dogs. Unfortunately, our first room was a completely different experience. The second we walked in, we were hit with an overwhelming cigarette smell. And I don't mean it smelled like someone had briefly smoked a cigarette in there -- it smelled like someone had been smoking in the room for their entire stay. I didn't see an option for smoking vs. non-smoking rooms when booking, so I'm not sure what happened, but it was BAD. My husband and I actually discussed just dealing with it, but ultimately the smell was so strong that we couldn't. We also wanted to make sure it was documented immediately so there was no chance we could be blamed for it. This is where I have to give a huge shoutout to Kimberly at the front desk. She was fantastic from the moment we checked in -- friendly, welcoming, and immediately giving Penny a treat. When I told her about the room, she was incredibly kind and offered to move us right away, no questions asked. If I were reviewing Kimberly alone, this would absolutely be a five-star review. Our second room was a huge improvement, although it did have a fairly strong musty smell. Ultimately, I think the rooms are just showing their age. They're pretty basic, there's nothing particularly special about them, and they could definitely benefit from a remodel or refresh. I did really appreciate that the outdoor fire pits seemed to be on almost all the time. It's such a simple thing, but it makes the property feel warm and inviting, and it's nice not having to track someone down and ask for them to be turned on. The golf amenities were another disappointment. The course closes at 5 p.m., which already felt surprisingly early, and when we went over to use the driving range around 4 p.m., it was closed despite there still being plenty of daylight. That was a huge bummer because one of the reasons I chose this property was so my husband could at least hit a bucket of balls during our stay. Overall, there are some genuinely nice things about this property, particularly if you're traveling with a dog. The common areas are beautiful, the grounds are expansive, the fire pits are inviting, and the staff we interacted with were wonderful. To say I am disappointed in the way we were treated on our last stay is an understatement. To…read morearrive at a rental (that cost us approximately $400 a night) and not have any heat (when the temperatures were in the 50's) and not get a remedy for the duration of our stay is totally unacceptable. We were told we'd receive a call back the following morning and that we'd receive space heaters. I have yet to receive a phone call back and no space heaters were ever received. We were told they probably wouldn't be able to find an emergency repair person on a Friday and I think that's a lie. I think they just didn't want to be bothered or didn't want to pay the higher cost. The temperature in the house when we arrived was 61 degrees and only after turning the oven on to 400 degrees and leaving the door open were we able to get the temperature to 65 by the time we went to bed. In the morning it was back down to 61. If there had been a gas fireplace as advertised that probably would have made all the difference in the world, but there was no gas fireplace. There was no fireplace at all. Additionally, we experienced the following: 1. The house sleeps 8 and has enough seating around the dining room table for 8 people, however there were only 4 dinner forks, & 5 teaspoons and none matched. Not sure what we would have done if we'd had 8 people. 2. The toilet seat in the 1/2 bath broke the first day we arrived and even though we tried to fix it, we couldn't so we had to resort to going upstairs to use the bathroom. 3. Plenty of ice, but it wouldn't dispense from the refrigerator. 4. The master bath shower wouldn't drain and by the time you were done taking a shower there was water all over the floor and the bottom of the shower curtain was soaking wet. Had to use the other shower. It was obvious there have been leaking problems from this bathroom in the past as evidenced by the peeling and patched ceiling in the living room. 5. The pictures on their website show being able to see the water from the house. This is only true if you are upstairs because the bushes have grown up so much along the fence in front it blocks the view. All in all, this stay was extremely disappointing and the treatment appalling. They never apologized for the lack of heat, where I would have been apologizing all over the place and would have dropped what I was doing to find a remedy. Extremely poor customer service. I sent them an email detailing our disappointment and have never received a reply and I've still never received a phone call back from the original ones we had on the day we arrived. Additionally, we had booked a stay several years ago and then Covid hit. I called to cancel our reservation (giving several months notice) and was told they would not refund my $400 deposit but would hold it for a future reservation. No other vacation rental company would have operated like that. Do not give them any business!

There is a pubic hair on the rim of the bathtub (see pic), as well as several other hairs in the tub/shower. The walls are paper thin. There is a group in room 1, who have been making noise and suspiciously coughing all night long. I suspect they are crackheads or something. It's a Monday night (Tuesday morning actually) and I managed to sleep from 12:30-1:30a. I've been up since then listening to the conversation from next door, as well as them going in and out of the room all night. I now get to try to drive home on 1 hour of sleep. This place is shady, and unclean. Avoid.

Peaceful Stay with a Great Host…read more We had a wonderful stay at Raines Resort and loved Cabin C2. The cabin was clean, cozy, and very well equipped, with a comfortable bed, a full kitchen, a fridge/freezer that was especially useful for our fishing trip, Wi-Fi, and bathroom essentials. It truly felt like a home away from home. The river right outside the cabin was beautiful, and the dock was easy to access. Hong even provided fishing poles and bait, which made it easy to fish whenever we wanted. We also enjoyed meeting other guests on the dock, which added to the warm, relaxed atmosphere. The resort is close to the beach but still far enough from the crowds to offer the peace and quiet we were looking for. Hong was an outstanding host and made our trip even better with his local tips and recommendations during Dory Days festival that was happening the same weekend. He was always available if we needed anything, even after my partner forgot the door code and accidentally set off the alarm. This place was recommended by the charter company we booked our fishing trip with, and I'm so glad we stayed here. I highly recommend Raines Resort for a relaxing, stress-free getaway, and we'll definitely be back.

My husband, our little girl dog and I decided to stay at Raines Resort for one night before we drive up to visit the Tillamook Creamery (which is ~ 35 minutes away but is cheaper staying here than some of the other hotels closer). If you make a booking online directly through Raines Resort's website, it is cheaper and there is also a small discount if you stay 2 nights or more. We stayed in C3, one of their cabins that has a wonderful view of the river (just steps from your balcony). What is really nice about this cabin is that there is also a kitchen, which is something we really wanted so that we could cook our meal and also a meal for our little girl (yes we primarily cook all of our meals for her). It is nice that the kitchen has dishware, utensils, cookware, coffee, etc. But you would have to bring your own cooking oil and seasoning. There is also a full size fridge that has a freezer, which is greatly appreciated because from other hotels that we have stayed in, although there is a mini fridge, the mini fridge doesn't have a freezer and we have things that we would like to freeze (ice packs and also like to freeze bottled water to keep our food items cold in our cooler). There is a parking spot that you can park right in front of your cabin, which makes for easy loading and unloading. The bed we had was nice and comfortable. The place itself was clean. The bathroom was small though but was fine for our stay. Prior to our stay, Hong (the manager and possibly the owner?) contacted me via text message to ask me if I knew what time I would be arriving. I had told him that it would most likely be after the office is closed since we were on a road trip. He told me that it wouldn't be a problem and gave me the door code to get in and also said that he was going to be out of town so that most likely we would not meet him. But he was very good at checking in with me via text message, which I greatly appreciated. Overall, we all really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when passing through this part of Oregon.
