My husband and I had a delightful stay here celebrating our 12 year anniversary. When we arrived, Kristin greeted us and showed us around the B&B. Their common areas include a dining room, a living room, a small library (with books and games) and TV room, as well as front and back porches. We originally booked the Oregon Trail room, but Kristin offered to upgrade us to the Oregon Coast room at a discounted rate. We chose the Oregon Coast room for the private balcony and stunning views over the valley. The room was lovely and comfortable. Toiletries, robes, and slippers are all provided for the guests. Our room also had an electric fireplace, which was nice. There was no TV, but that wasn't an issue for us. This is their handicapped accessible room, so there were extra shower and toilet seat handle bars. We stayed two nights and enjoyed two amazing breakfasts prepared by Ayelet. Over the two days, we were treated to blueberry French Toast, a poached pear, homemade bread, scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, blueberry scones, and a baked apple. Plus a selection of their homemade jelly/jam. A lot of the ingredients were sourced right from the property. While we ate, Ayelet asked us about our plans for the day, and she offered super helpful suggestions on what to do, where to go, what to eat. She even gave us printed maps! Some other noteworthy items: you get one free T-shirt with your stay; you have a choice of breakfast at 8 or 9 am; there are coolers, sunscreen, and sunglasses you can borrow; they ask your breakfast beverage of choice and usually have it out in the dining room an hour before your breakfast time; there are always homemade cookies, water, and glasses by the mini fridge; you can buy their homemade jam/jelly as well as T-shirts, mugs, coasters, etc. We loved our stay here. I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast, and I was very anxious about it. I went into this knowing that I signed up for a bed and breakfast experience, and that's exactly what this is. It's not staying at the Park Hyatt in Bangkok, K? It is a bed and breakfast in Newberg, Oregon. Yes, you pick a time for breakfast the day before, then you sit at a table with a group of strangers, eat breakfast with them, and try to find things to talk about. Like wine. You eat what is made for you. Is it kind of awkward? Yeah. But it's manageable. We met some interesting people who are different than us, and that was kind of cool. I will admit that one morning I was really hungover (which makes me even more anxious than I typically am), so I had a glass of wine before we went down for breakfast and that helped. The actual breakfasts were lovely. Fresh ingredients and fruits, biscuity/bready things, homemade jams, etc. Kristin did a great job. She has great insight into the area and is very helpful with recommendations for where to go. Yeah, she's quirky. But again, would you expect anything else at a bed and breakfast in Oregon? The view from our room was out of control, and that's a big reason that I recommend this place. Wow. Most of the wineries close around 4pm, so it was nice to spend some time out there before dinner. (This was in late spring) I don't think that we had a TV in our room? We didn't really care, but just noting that because I could see it maybe being an issue for some people. The bathroom had a gigantic bathtub, and overall the bathroom was pretty spacious. I think it was a queen bed. It all got the job done. Would I stay here again? Yeah, I would weigh the options that are available, but for sure. It's lovely. read more

This is a long overdue review. We stayed at this lovely B&B in October 2020 and very much enjoyed our stay. They had Covid precautions in place and our room was immaculately clean. We stayed at the Wine room and enjoyed the bathtub and beautiful views from our balcony. Our 3 morning breakfast were delicious and different everyday. We can't wait to go back and highly recommend Chehalem Ridge to anyone wanting a relaxing and romantic getaway! read more

My parents sent us away and babysat our infant for a nice while we were in town visiting. We arrived and the manager was lovely and kind - showed us around the house, gave us our keys, and allowed us to settle in. We hopped out down the street for a bite, and were back early to relax for the evening. Unfortunately, the views were a bit obscured by fog, but the room was a generous size, the bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was interesting (broiled grapefruit with pomegranates and scrambled eggs with pesto). One unfortunately thing is that she had asked for dietary issues and my husband noted "no onions" but it was forgotten when we received breakfast, so his had to be completely re-done while I sat with my plate. My wife Catti and I spent a weekend at this bed and breakfast and it was fantastic. The rooms were excellent, the view was spectacular and the food was great. We had two breakfasts there and both were a delight. First day was a baked egg dish with asparagus and day two was blueberry french toast with bacon. I wanted to extend for another day just to get see what would be coming next for breakfast. Finally, the service was great. Both Liz and Kristen were very friendly and gave perfect recommendations. My wife and I visited Willamette Valley for our anniversary's day booker two nights here. Well we only stayed one night and that was because we had no where else to go. This place may look ok on the website but it is nasty. We have stayed at a lot of B and B's all over the country and this one was by far the worst. I could go on and on but in short- dirty rooms-dirty carpet-hair on the pillow (not ours)-bugs in the room- tiny room with no sitting area-better food at Applebee's!!!! Sorry Chehalem Ridge but you need to make some major changes and upgrades. This was just a regular house converted to a B and B with nothing special but the poor quality. We never asked for our money back and wouldn't expect it so if I were you I would pass on this place. read more

What a magical spot on the hill with majestic views of the vineyard!! My hubby and I had our first B&B experience here and we loved it! From the very beginning with a gracious greeting and tour of the house to a delicious 5 Star Breakfast & knowledge of the area by Kristin. My husband and I stayed here a few months ago and we loved it! The b&b is beautiful with lots of character and the owners and staff were wonderful. We stayed in the High Desert Suite full of windows with the most beautiful view looking over the city below and a huge new air tub (the sanitary kind that I will actually get in). We even got in room massages. The breakfast prepared by the owner was amazing. They even had wine available for purchase onsite and select restaurants that deliver for dinner. My boyfriend and I just returned from a trip to Oregon. While in Willamette Valley, we stayed at the Chehalem Ridge B&B for two nights. I was extremely skeptical, as prefer hotels over B&Bs. My boyfriend was so on target when he picked this place! From the moment we walked in Kristen was extremely welcoming. We stayed in the Rose Room and the view was absolutely breathtaking. What impressed me most about the Chehalem Ridge B&B was the attention to detail. They have completely outdone themselves. The beds were comfortable, each breakfast was delicious, and I feel the prices are extremely reasonable. The wineries were only 5 to 10 minutes away, and Jory at the Allison was only a couple miles down the mountain. The only part I disliked was leaving! I would love to visit again! read more

My husband and I stayed in the wine country suite. We almost immediately were greeted with bugs in our room. Not just one but more than 20. We tried flushing them and putting them outside on the balcony, they continued to invade our room. When we informed the innkeepers they gave us a $25 dollar discount, but we will not be back. Chehalem Ridge B&B truly is 5 star worthy in every possible way. We booked late and were only able to get one night here but it was worth it. We stayed in the Ocean room. Set on a hillside overlooking the valley below, the view is breathtaking. I know that seems cliche but it was truly amazing. We had a nice clear day and evening so you could see for miles. The B&B is spotless and has every amenity you could ask for. It felt like you were staying at a relatives home. The balconies all had infrared heaters which came in handy during the cool night and a fireplace unit in the room was a great addition. No TV's in the room which was a plus for me as it allowed us to enjoy the view. There is a lounge area in the basement that has a comfortable couch and large screen tv and dvd player if you need. I see a few negative reviews regarding the food. People must realize that eating at a B&B is not the same as eating a restaurant. You are relying on the chefs expertise and planning to deliver an experience. As soon as you try and change that things can go South quickly. As a 10 year veteran in the food service industry I speak from experience. I am quite positive that should anyone have restrictive dietary needs or preferences that they would be more than happy to accommodate, but once the plate is in front of you I would say it is not reasonable to expect anything else. Kristin's meal was fabulous. Unique and well thought out. If you are not daring, then you may just want to book the Motel 6 and eat their continental breakfast and be on your way. There was a roasted peach dish that was really great. Kurt (Kristin's husband) was there over the weekend serving breakfast and was very pleasant. The edible flowers on the dishes were not only beautiful but added to the overall experience and culinary excellence. We were disapointed that we waited so long to book as we would have loved to stay another night or two. The price was very reasonable for what you get. Next time we are in the area we will think ahead more and book a couple nights. Do yourself a favor and book a night here. I've stayed at B&B's around the world and this is in my top 3. read more

The breakfast were all delicious! The only quirky thing or negative was Kristin the innkeeper she has a very strange persona. Not warm and fuzzy a bit gruff and dry. When you drive down the gravel driveway, you can already see the Willamette Valley below you and you know that you are in for a treat. The view is just breath taking. Kristin, the innkeeper, greeted us at the door with her friendly smile and showed us around her beautiful home. The room that we stayed in was very comfortable and well appointed. The house has no immediate neighbor and is nice and quiet. Top notch restaurants and wineries are only 10 to 20 minutes down the hill. But the view was so attractive that we decided to bring some food home after wine tasting and ate at the patio one evening. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruits (some grown on the property), home made jams and bread, and tasty quiche. We only stayed for a couple of nights but wished that we had time for more. read more

Our first time in the area and we were glad we stayed at the Chehalem Ridge B&B. There is a view from every angle of the place. What a treat!Innkeeper Kristin showed us around the lovely place and I can tell she put a lot of attention to make our stay memorable, ie. chocolate chip cookies were available if we wanted to nibble on something, water in the fridge, and lots of information (maps, menu) on the area. We stayed in the Wine Country room, where there was a magnificent view of the valley. Enjoyed soaking in the hot tub after a long day and just relaxing at this serene place. There were lots of personal touches she added, ie. plush robe, slippers, make up remover, environmental friendly soaps, iron, and even an emergency box (toothbrush, sewing kit, etc). It was nice that there was a CD player with a variety of calming music to choose from too. Downstairs, she has a wonderful library of books to browse through. I really liked how the lights were sensored vs. trying to find out where the switch was because I went to look for a book at night. The next day, we felt so special to be served breakfast by Kristin. I am sure she changes it up depending on the season but we started out with homemade bread with jam, poached pear, and yummy pumpkin pancakes with bacon. My husband and I are still thinking about this delicious breakfast! Even though we only stayed for one night, we would of enjoyed staying for a few days. read more

Beautiful views from a charming bed and breakfast. Kristin makes the most wonderful breakfasts each morning and cookies in the afternoon. She is very accommodating for those that have any type of food sensitivities. Rooms are varying in size but most have amazing views. Don't expect a lot of closet space or space for your clothes but the bathrooms are nicely appointed. Spend your time on the balcony looking at the views of the city. They are so good that I can't stop talking about them! We basically took over the place having stayed in 4 of the 5 rooms so for us it was like renting our own house.The staff is very kind, helpful and friendly but not intrusive. They like to give you your space. I suggest getting a driver if you plan to go wine tasting. The roads are windy and dark at night. We got Pops taxi service to take us to the restaurants at night. read more

The place is gorgeous. The surroundings are spectacular. The views are fantastic. The room (sans tv) was comfortable. We even used the jacuzzi tub - that's how clean this place is. HOWEVER - in the morning, when my partner asked to sit at our own table (there were 2 two-tops and a long table), Kristin gave us an attitude. She seemed quite perturbed that we requested something so simple. Why have tables set up that way if your guests can't have options? Just because I am staying at a B & B doesn't mean I have to socialize with strangers, ESPECIALLY when I am paying a lot of money ($230!!!) for a Sunday night. We did not require any special dietary accommodations - no, we did not ask for "hard eggs" or ANYTHING DIFFERENT. We WERE asked (when we arrived), by a very nice young lady (whose name I don't recall) if we had any dietary requests and we said "no". We saw, in advance, that the tables were set up where we could sit alone, so we certainly didn't think they'd require a special request, nor would it be a problem - we've been to MANY Bed and Breakfasts (see my review of The Campbell House in Eugene) and it was never an issue. Also, the website says there are numerous boutique wineries and fine-dining restaurants "just downhill", leading us to believe they were in walking distance, when, in fact, we had to get back in the car and drive a couple of miles back into town to eat dinner. Kristin's response that she would've suggested that we lodge elsewhere versus accommodating her guests is utterly ridiculous. Really? You'd send a guest elsewhere just because they wish to eat together??? read more

We have been twice now to Chehalem Ridge B&B and simply love it, and we are a couple that RARELY repeats an experience and Chehalem Ridge is a definite exception worthy of repeat visits. The view is uncomprehending until you actually experience it. Sitting out on your private deck drinking wine from a nearby Ribbon Ridge winery can't be any more relaxing, and the close proximity to Newberg (we love Painted Lady for dinner) is perfect for feeling like you are "away" but still conveniently close. Sadly our Chehalem Ridge coffee mug broke on our trip home so we will just need to come back again ... ohhh darn :-) read more

My husband and I along with our friends recently stayed here for our 10 year anniversary trip. It was perfect. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed morning coffee and late night wine on the balcony. Liz was a wealth of information regarding where to go and what to do. Kristen was a great host, that made the most amazing breakfast. This place was wonderful. Very private and cozy. Our room had a large tub and a balcony both of which we utilized. We also had a spectacular view and appreciated the collection of movies to watch in the downstairs living room. We went wine tasting in the area and found an amazing restaurant (Recipe: a neighborhood kitchen) nearby. The breakfast was delicious the only complaint I had was that I don't eat many sweet things for breakfast and it seemed as if all of the courses were sweet. I would have appreciated a more savory breakfast. Otherwise we loved this place and will be back! read more

My review for this amazing place is long overdue! I came across this charming B&B on my search for planning my boyfriend birthday. I had never stayed at a B&B and was skeptical and had very high expectations for what I would want out of our first B&B experience. Well this place and Kristin surpassed all my expectations I mean from the amazing food which I still day dream about and those breath taking views wow! I stayed in the wine country room and I would defiantly re book that room main reason being the jacuzzi and the second story views. Kristin thinks about everything to provide from unlimited amount of board games to books and movies, along with complimentary treats like cookies and having silverware/wine openers for guest to enjoy. As well as also supplying each room with a box of toiletries with everything that you may need just in case you forgot to pack something she has you covered! We stayed in the Oregon Coast room. At first I was like, do I want a room that looks like the beach when I'm staying in the hills? Really though it was the private patio, view from the windows and fireplace that drew me. Wraparound windows allow an amazing view from that room, and the little patio with table and chairs got some use as soon as we got there with our first bottle of Pinot Noir with some cheese and salami. Good thing too because later in the weekend we instead curled up inside with the fireplace as a rain and windstorm came through. Note that the fireplace wasn't working at first and the innkeeper got it going again fast. The bed is comfortable, the pillows also, and the bathroom is really nice with sea foams and blues - reminiscent of the ocean of course but also calm relaxing colors. There was tons of information available - road maps, running/hiking trail maps, winery maps, restaurant recommendations, etc. Ask the innkeepers for winery and restaurant recommendations - they know the good ones! So this leads me to breakfast. There is nothing better than chefs and innkeepers who cook with the seasons and use the local produce. In this case it was asparagus and rhubarb incorporated into the food. Breakfast was two courses, a ginger rhubarb crumble on one day and a kiwi hazelnut parfait on the other, followed by an egg dish one day and baked French toast the other. Plenty of decent coffee was available along with tea and juice. There was always water in the refrigerator and yummy cookies to snack on anytime. Breakfast also included homemade jams, some flavors I had never seen before, along with a liberal sprinkling of winery and restaurant advice and conversation with the innkeepers and other guests. My wife and I were there for our anniversary and stayed in the wine country room - which in the evening feels like you are looking out at the city lights of Newberg as if you were in a 40 story high rise in Chicago. There were deer out around the home the next morning before we had a nice breakfast (poached pears and a compote of fresh rhubarb with bacon and home-made scones/jam). While the owner/woman was friendly she was a bit quirky....telling me that I hadn't been to a place when in fact I had....but it was a private event....Nonetheless - I'd go back to Chehalem ridge. Its only 10 min from downtown Newberg and they also have coupons/discounts for tastings at many local wineries. read more

It was the first time that my boyfriend and I have ever stayed in a B&B so we didn't know what to expect. To our delight, the whole experience was pleasurable! Chehalem Ridge B&B was exactly what we needed. It was comfortable, tranquil, and the perfect environment for us to have a romantic getaway. We only had time for one night, but it was an unforgettable experience. The Rose Garden room had a lovely private bathroom with a claw-foot tub that I definitely took advantage of. After my bath, I felt so pampered to put on the soft bath robes they provide with your stay. The sunset and sunrise from the private patio was breathe taking, adding to our romantic experience. I will say that our bed was an ultra comfy memory foam mattress with a cute picket-fence head board with a sturdy build, so couples don't have to worry that they might wake the neighbors with a creaking bed, lol! The entire inn was very clean, and well appointed with all the amenities one could want. The inn keeper, Kristine, helped us with suggestions for local wine tasting spots, and she can also make recommendations for the best places for dinner. What was impressive is that I told her that I do not eat dairy, and she provided dairy-free snicker doodle cookies in the evening (which hit the spot perfectly ); as well as a dairy-free breakfast for me that was scrumptious. The starter was a perfectly seasoned baked pear topped with a soy yogurt, where you could garnish it with your choice of two home made preserves. The main course was that of locally sourced, free-range eggs which she poached perfectly, atop a bed of avocado, salsa, and toast. She also baked loaves of lemon and poppy seed bread, one of which was dairy and gluten free. The other couples who shared the breakfast with us were so lovely, and also commented on how wonderful their experience at the inn had been for them. I did my homework to find a B&B for our 38th anniversary. I wanted to convince my husband that B&Bs didn't have to feel like a stay in an elderly aunts guestroom. I found the perfect get-away at Chehelam Ridge B&B. Innkeeper Kristin promptly greeted us at the door and gave us the tour. She double checked our food preferences and offered us suggestions for dinner. We stayed in the Oregon coast room on the main floor. It was ADA accessible which was perfect for me since I had a knee injury. The views from our private deck were stunning. The next morning with our freshly brewed coffee, we watched hot air balloons take off. There was even a deck heater and warm fuzzy throw blankets. Breakfast was absolutely delicious prepared by Kristin using fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden on site. We shared breakfast conversation with honeymooners and Kristen who is very knowledgeable about the area, gave suggestions for wineries to visit. I really appreciated all the thought and perfect detail that made our stay so comfortable and special. I highly recommend this B&B and it would make a wonderful gift for someone special in your life. read more
