Came back to visit in July, 2026 and enjoyed two more, delicious gluten free pies. Consistency is key, and they nailed it again. Also got to enjoy a bonus Friday night concert in the park! Will be back again! read more

I stopped here to have dinner with the family after a long drive from the Bay Area in California. We were in Oregon to watch our son graduate from Oregon State. Go Beavs! After a long drive and getting settled in to the hotel we decided to go get some grub. Pizza was the consensus. We walked from our hotel to New York Squares. When we walked in we were immediately greeted. The first thing I noticed were the NY Giants pictures on the wall. Pretty cool. The atmosphere was pretty nice. You feel like you're inside a pizzeria in Brooklyn. We ordered the The Grandma and a Pepperoni. The pizza was crispy around the edges, but soft in the middle. For everyone but me the grandma was the favorite. I personally loved the pepperoni. The pizza was overall good, not my all-time favorite, but a solid 4 out of 5. The owner was awesome and the atmosphere was great too. When we're back in Independence (we love Independence) we'll definitely be back for another pie or two. read more

Excellent pizza spot in independence. We went to the brewery next door and then came in and got pizza. Got 1/2 grandma and 1/2 pepperoni supreme. The hot honey and ricotta was very sweet but good. Owners are very friendly. Highly reccomend this place. read more

We absolutely love this place, we come at least every other month and they're consistently so good. Our favorite is the vodka pizza! The workers and owners are so friendly and helpful! Can't get over how yummy the pizzas are and reheat really well since we always get enough for leftovers. We just love this place, a gem in the willamette valley. We've even turned our family and friends onto it! read more

From the moment you walk in here the owners and their staff do everything to make sure you are taken care of. My eldest daughter who normally doesn't care for pizza loves it here so much that she requested it for her birthday dinner. Her siblings love it as well so its a very easy yes for our girls to eat here. Everything we've had here has been excellent, absolutely worth the drive from Salem. Inside the restaurant while you wait theres plenty of pictures of NYC to look at and our girls could color pictures that the owner put on display with others done by other customers. Can't wait to go back for sure read more

What do you get when you cross the Detroit-style pizza form factor with the flavor combinations best known in the UK? New York Squares, apparently. You could argue that this is more like the traditional Sicilian style, but that doesn't make for as good an opener. I have been absolutely CRAVING 'Nduja since moving back to the US. The spicy-savory sausage paste was on every pizzeria's menu back in London, but stateside it's very hard to find. Imagine my shock and delight when I found New York Squares offering it, in the boondocks of Independence, Oregon! After the first bite I was giggling like a child. Not only was the pie perfectly-cooked, cheesy and rich but not overwhelming, it was also in perfect balance. The cheese brought out the spices of the sausage, which augmented the creaminess of the ricotta, which highlighted the herbaceous parsley. For the price, the pizzas are tiny, yes. However, the size may not be the best indicator of value, in this case. The flavors are rich and the textures so diverse that every bite feels so much more satisfying than a typical meal, so a single pizza is a hearty meal for two or a moderate meal for three, and can easily stretch to feed four. I will be coming back, again and again, and you should too. read more

When Sunday Feb 11th; 1:30 pm, Take out order customized half pie. Absolutely, wonderful service provided by husband and wife team of Mike & Juby. We were greeted warmly by Mike, at this Independence food cart. It was our first time here, so Mike explained to us our different options, pleasantly. He recommended ordering a customized half pie, where the both of us, could have 2 square pies each. I settled on two Pepperoni pies, while my wife was a little more adventurous with her choices and got 1 slice of the Grandma & 1 slice of the black olive slices. Since this food cart is strictly take out, other than eating in your car, you can add a little bit of ambiance by grabbing a pint at Parallel 45 brewery next door, where they have indoor/outdoor seating...Bringing in outside food is totally acceptable with the staff at Parallel 45 Brewing... For the two of us on this chilly Sunday afternoon, we decided to drive back home to Salem, to enjoy the pies in the warm comfort of our home. The pies were absolutely delicious. The magic is in the dough and that's what makes these square pies a definite must have...My wife said, when I am craving for "great" pizza, I am driving over the river for these New York Square pies. read more

New York Squares - Custom Half Pie: Grandma's slice (top left), Upside Down slice (top right), Sausage slice (right bottom), Black Olive (left bottom). - Pizza Near Me - Independence, Oregon

It's okay but not something worth visiting again. I think they pre-bake the dough. Even still, it was underdone. The toppings on the grandma slice were pretty meh--the tomato on it was just canned diced tomato. The service was kind, though! read more

10/10 highly recommend this place! Amazing atmosphere and high quality pizza. As someone with celiacs, finding pizza that actually tastes like fluffy, real dough is extremely difficult. New York Squares out did themselves! They take all precautions possible without being able to hold an entirely GF kitchen and I felt comfortable after speaking with the owner (who was more than welcoming) and talking about their process. We definitely found our new pizza joint and will be back! read more

Some of the best pizza I've had! Extremely large sizes and really fills you up. The service was prompt and great. The inside of the store is small, but it doesn't matter because you'll be loving the pizza. read more

The pizzas and garlic bread are delicious! The customer service was great and friendly. We will be returning regularly.

This is the best pizza period. It is so good that we purposely order too much so we can have leftovers. My husband is from the east coast and he is adamant that this pizza can't be beat. I agree. It's my birthday tomorrow AND Valentine's Day and this was exactly what I wanted! read more

You won't find a better pizza experience than New York Squares. From the moment you walk in, you're treated like family. The pizza is amazing. My first bite and I looked at my wife and said, "Oh wow!" Crust, sauce and toppings are all on point. You're missing out if you don't try this place. read more

Food 5/5 This place is SUCH a gem!! I grew up here and never had a really great pizza place like this. We got the customizable pie with the supreme pepperoni, margherita, upside down pie, and white pie. We loved all of them but I'd say the white pie, pepperoni and upside down pies were our favorites. The sauce is SO flavorful and the crust is nice and crisp and chewy. Service 5/5 the people inside were so friendly. I was just picking up but I could see the care that went into our pizza. A lot of dedication to a good customer experience read more

This Pizza is in my opinion is the BEST around with Authentic Flavor and high end ingredients! Mike Galatioto has the sauces and homemade pizza crust that will please your palette and pizza craving from your very first bite, Juby will always welcome you with her great smile and warmth. Mike will always ask how you enjoyed the pizza and all I could say to him was "Forget about it!!", it was over the top amazing! They have something very special going on here at New York Squares, and what can add to this slice of heaven in the Pizza Kingdom, stop and have a pint at Parallel 45 for a cold beer to go with it!!! That said, get over and try a slice of New York's/Sicily's finest tasting pizza ingredients in beautiful Independence Oregon. Remember to tell Mike after you've enjoyed your slice or whole pie, "Forget about it"!!! Guaranteed to put a smile on his face!!! Enjoy!!! read more

Good pizza but expensive for the amount of pizza. Good toppings! Sauce is great. Different from Yeasty Beasty but still good.

Went here based on recommendations from several different people and were not disappointed! The pizza was AMAZING and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The owner was working when we went and was very friendly and helpful. Only thing to keep in mind is that it is a little on the pricier side but we felt like it was worth it. We will be back! read more

Great Sicilian style pizza. Inventive ingredients and combinations. Friendly welcoming staff. Next door to a brewery.

My wife and I are both from NY, and have tried several great NY pizza places, including Rosa's in Middle Village, which was always one of our favorites! Needless to say we were skeptical that NY Squares would be on a similar level, but boy, were we wrong! As soon as we met the owner Mike the three of us immediately hit it off and started sharing NY stories. Once Mike described how he sources premium ingredients from out of town, makes his own sauce and dough, we knew this could be a winner. But the real challenge was making a pizza that compared to the best we've had in NY, and I do not hesitate to say that NY Squares certainly does! Delicious sauce, high quality mozzarella, tasty sausage over a perfectly made fluffy dough easily made this the best pizza we've ever had in Oregon! If you really want to experience authentic NY style pizza, NY Squares is the way to go. We only tried the Upside-down and the Sausage pies, but we can't wait to try many of the several choices that Mike provides. If you love true comfort food, give it a try! read more

Went here on a recommendation and I'm glad I did! I'm not a pizza person but this was AMAZING pizza. Dough was airy and soft and the ingredients and sauce were all scratch made. Also, you're able to split up the pie in up to four topping styles. I will be back! read more

Run, don't walk to New York Squares pizza. I lived in NY for several years and this is the true deal. You won't find pineapple, Canadian bacon or ranch, like the picture indicates, because New York pizzerias don't have them. The square style and dough are Sicilian style, the ingredients are high quality. They make their own dough and marinara, which I immediately detected, as it is not acidic, or spicy. It's very fresh and you can taste the tomatoes. 10/10 read more

They refunded one of my pizzas after a miscommunication had me waiting longer than normal for my order. It wasn't necessary, but it goes to show how dedicated they are to their customers. The pizza is pretty phenomenal too which is always a plus. read more

Pizza very good. Fast service after online ordering. Good location with convenient off street parking.

If there was a way to give more than 5 stars, I would. Absolutely delicious, fresh and authentic Sicilian style pizza. We tried the sausage broccoli, the white pie, and the grandma, and they were all fantastic. Already looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. read more

Ate here tonight after seeing it pop up on Facebook. If you have tastebuds and want good quality ingredients this is the place. Their dough is spot on, the crust is tasty, the sauce is fresh, and the olive oil is spot on. Don't expect a bland pastey tomato sauce here like you would at any of the west coast chains. This is Sicilian style too so know what to expect when you get there: deliciously chewy, flavorful, high quality pies. If you're an East coaster too, this will curb the homesickness for you. If you're a west coaster this will change your perception of good pizza. You'll never spend $60 on an XL pie from another chain again. read more

I'm from NY and I have never even seen Sicilian style pizza outside of NYC. I've lived all over the country and I can attest that it is very hard to find good "New York"pizza. This pizza is excellent. It brought back great childhood memories. I will definitely be eating here again! read more

Tried this place today after reading the write up in Statesman Journal. It was wonderful. The truck is parked behind Parallel 45 Brewing. The gentleman running the truck and the woman who was working with him were both kind and attentive. You can tell they want people to have a good experience. I got the pie home and it was perfect. Tons of pepperoni and olives on it, and the crust/focaccia underneath it (whatever you want to call it), was so, so good. The pieces are huge, but it's such good quality you don't feel gross after eating it. Do yourself a favor and check it out if you're in the area! read more

Got a slice of pepperoni and a slice of sausage. Pizza was made to order and really tasty. No need for extra cheese at this spot.

I'm from Philly. I have lived in AZ, Idaho and have traveled all over the west coast. I have not had a Sicilian pizza done well in over 25 years. This is the place! If you haven't had it, get the upside down pie, you will not be disappointed. I have a feeling we will be in Independence a lot more! Thanks for a taste of childhood! read more

Just finished eating and had to review right away! Very good deal for the size and heft of the slice, and the fresh ingredients really made it outstanding!
