First of all I want to commend the service staff. Friendly goes a long way these days and the staff here were great! We ordered the meat lovers with arugula on half and overall it was good pizza. The toppings were fresh and the crust had just the right level of "char" without tasting like a piece of coal. Ingredients were fresh and tasty. The only thing I took a star for is the sauce was a little on the watery/light side. That is not to say it was bad... it just wasn't my favorite. Solid spot for thin crust Neapolitan pizza! Pizzas are small personal size and made to order. They have an authentic pizza oven. I ordered the meat lovers pizza and it was delicious! Hard to find restaurant as there is no sign outside and you have to come inside to find it. Seating is not too comfortable and there is no restaurant parking. I ended up parking at Wells Fargo bank, 3 blocks away and walked. You order at the counter and they bring you your pizza when it is ready. There are only a few pizza options and a couple salads. For drinks they have a tiny mini fridge with cans of soda (no diet options) or bottled water. Pizza was good but other issues listed above lowered the rating for me. read more

HELL YEA I was visiting the area and my brother and I went to this mess hall/food court for lunch. I'm really basic and like cheese or pepperoni. From the recommendation of the worker I went with the margarita. No pressure, but margarita is a really good indicator of the pizza joint. And they passed with flying colors. The dough was great, had a nice subtle taste to it. The mozzarella, UGH. *Chefs Kiss* delicious. I used to not be a fan of mozzarella cause I felt like it didn't taste like anything, but boy this one was so yummy. It just all was so so delicious. Also came out pretty fast. I've told myself to try each restaurant location at Fork Forty so it was La Lucciola's turn this time around. I got myself and arugula salad and a personal pizza. I was probably much more impressed with the size of the salad versus the pizza itself. I just want to be clear, there was nothing wrong with the pizza, just wasn't necessarily my style! Substitutions were easy to make and looks like a lot of vegetarian options, too. Thin crust with a light amount of sauce plus there were lots of toppings that were perfectly spread out on the pie itself. Where do I begin?.... OK, FIRST: THIS IS A FOOD COURT!.... That's a pretty good place to start. I'm from out of state, so when I Yelped "restaurants in Salem, OR., filter- "sort by ratings", I think there should've been an ** or SOMETHING. Once i got over the shock, (i have to mention just FINDING a "4.5/5 "restaurant"** in the heart of downtown Salem" (Thanks so much to the reviewer that mentioned "Fork Forty" or I NEVER would've found it!) I'd have to say "this was the BEST food court pizza I've ever had!"- (wanted to give credit where credit was due to the TWO employees that were there). Things to consider now that you know.... 1.The bathrooms (again, in the FOOD COURT) smelled like pee and mine was overflowing with trash (which is interesting considering the was a Dyson air blade right next to the sink!) A problem for ME, because I was there to get FOOD. 2. NO FOUNTAIN DRINKS?!... Just a tiny little cooler with some sugar filled soda and a separate shelf with bottled water. 3. There were large bar height cafeteria style tables with bar stools that looked (and FELT) like they were made out of spare pizza tins... The food: the pizzas were small- 6 slices, (I usually eat 1-2, I had three and could've eaten another) for$14. (She DID bring it to the table, which was nice. Then a VERY CLEAR sigh stating you must "bus your own tables"... .btw, don't forget to tip?).... the cheese on the pizza was so runny it slid off, (kind of in liquefied form) but with the nice toasty thin crust, was still tasty. I'm sorry, I'm done now. OK, no I'm not. I'm so disappointed in Yelp for not having a category or something that would've distinguished this type of place from an ACTUAL restaurant. After many rings, a brief recording directing the person to leave a message. I laughed, said I want to order a pizza, left my phone number, and said this is a strange ordering process. As I was looking up another pizza business option, I get a text message. "We are having phone problems. Please order by text." I then put the ordering information into the text message to see how they were going to complete the transaction. I received a return text saying they weren't currently doing deliveries. The location does have dine in but it's not fancy by any means. When dining there the gal who serves the pizza comes to your table instead of giving a pager.
