Came to town for the Ironman and stumbled upon Cascadia. Loved that they were sponsors of the event so decided to give them a try. Great open air seating restaurant with a rooftop patio. Wow... I don't even know where to begin. Gave them a shot due to their 4.3 rating and I do not understand how they've earned such a high rating. This is some of the worst yet overpriced pizza I've ever had. The service was also extremely rude and would have left the single (tiny) cup of ranch off the order had my husband not checked and the person gave him attitude when he asked for it (he is very polite to service people.) Got two small (personal) sized pizzas for the husband and I and we shared to try different options. Also got the "dough bros" (garlic bites.) The dough bros were straight up revolting. Drenched in oil and sitting in a pool of oil and garlic, but were somehow devoid of flavor. The garlic taste was extremely mild despite being covered. Biting into the bread squirted oil into my mouth and made me gag. They were also burnt and bitter. Some of the worst food I've ever had and I used to eat food prepared by my grandmother who had no sense of taste (literal, she could not taste flavor.) The pizzas were marginally better but not much. Got the cascade margarita and the tahoma (chicken pesto). The margarita was the slightly better of the two only because the tomato tasted like tomato--but the tomatoes were not Roma. Wrong shape and nowhere near as flavorful. The crust was also soggy but also had that vaguely bitter flavor despite not being burnt. Maybe they never clean their oven? The Tahoma (pesto chicken) had zero flavor. It was a flavor vacuum. It sucked any sense of flavor from anything else. Pesto has a distinct, strong flavor and scent. This pizza didn't even really have a smell. Nothing. It was bitter, soggy bread with some stuff on it that they sell as food. Husband put sriracha on it and said "tastes like bread with sriracha on it," and it was the only way he could get it down. All of this and they're more expensive than Mod. If you want a personal pizza place, just go to Mod. Personally, I vastly prefer Straight From New York Pizza. Not only are they a better value, their pizzas are miles better--as opposed to the straight up disgusting slop served at this place. I love trying new restaurants and it's rare to find a place I'd describe as disgusting. That's usually reserved for places like Burger King or Caesar's pizza, but at least they have the decency to not present themselves as anything better than they are. The owners of this establishment should genuinely be ashamed of what they serve there. It's embarrassingly bad. read more

Greeted right when we walked in the door. They have a good selection of specialty pizza and local beer on tap. We had the Caesar salad a Margharita pizza and the Buckley. Went on a sunny afternoon, and this place was not busy. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Service was relaxed and friendly. The vibe was modern but comfortable. We decided on two personal pizzas: the Cowboy, that had a barbecue sauce base that was topped with cheese, bacon, sausages, Mama Lil's peppers, green peppers and finished with a drizzle of Buffalo sauce. The other pizza we got to share was the Northwestern, which had a garlic butter sauce base, cheese, Prosciutto, pear slices and was topped with Arugula and a Balsamic drizzle. They offer a lot of different kinds of pizzas, with a variety of sauces and unique combinations. We did a Caesar salad and a half order (6 pieces) of the wood fired wings with BBQ sauce and a side of ranch to round out our meal. We decided to sit on the roof, and it was easy to find a table with shade. It was quite pleasant up there. Our food was brought up quite quickly. The pizzas were great! The Cowboy had sweetness from the BBQ sauce, rich meatiness from all the meats, and some complementary heat from the Mama Lil's and the Buffalo sauce. The Northwestern also had a great balance of flavors, with sweet notes and rich notes balanced by the kick of the arugula and Balsamic. The crusts had that nice char and chew that you get from wood-fired pizzas. The salad was your basic Caesar but still good. The wings were awesome! Generously sized, they had a great, well-seasoned taste that went well with the sweet BBQ sauce, and the ranch was a nice touch. First time trying this place so we ordered a bit of everything - cheese sticks, two types of pizza (one red, one white), and buffalo wings. Everything was amazing! Like, really good. The pizza was absolutely delicious with ample toppings and great, fresh flavor. The wings were lightly sauced (perhaps just a little too lightly), juicy, plump, and cooked perfectly! Honestly, best wings I've had in Salem, which is a bit sad considering we have a few specialty wing places... these were better. We came here to try out their pizza. When we arrived we were the only guests around 1:15pm. We ordered half and half pizza. The waitress seemed to think it would be a probably to change base flavors on the pizza. It was not, changing the bases to all red sauce worked out fine. Our pizza arrived luke warm on the cold side. We told our waitress and she offered a freshly made pizza which I wish I had of taken her up on that offer. Right before we left she brought us a sugar boom apple pie pizza. I was completely bummed when I heard that their predecessor, Basil and Board, was closing as they were my favorite place to get pizza in town. I like a more artisan style pizza than most of our local pizza places offer so losing our favorite was just shy of devastating....enter Cascadia Pizza into the same space. While the style is different, it still has an artisan flair. We have eaten here twice and both time the pizza has been excellent (it is also good as a cold breakfast treat).
