You know that bar burger that all the locals no about? Where they put way too much effort into it? Homemade patties, options like grilled onions or mushrooms, the fries or onion rings are cooked just right, the fry sauce is homemade with just a touch of vinegar, and they cook it all fresh to order for you. Just that burger that even if you are not having a drink you stop in for cause it's better then anything fast food or homemade will do and the prices are good? Take away the bar part, make it a little out of the way drive thru shack that you'll miss if you don't know it's there, and you have Dandy Burger. Everything here is delicious. They make sure to use the right kind of bread if you order something besides a burger, like their Patty Melt which is just mouth watering when you smell it cooking. They are the friendliest people to. Their hours are short, but that makes it even more special because you have to get there before hours close or your stick with no other good burger option until the next day, and no one gives you so many fries that you'll never finish them like Dandy. If you don't have time when they are open, make time. If you don't, you'll regret it for the rest of your days. read more

This place has to be the best (non-chain) burger in the valley!! Drive-thru only and prepared fresh while you wait (so you will wait for a minute) but totally worth it!! the buns are light and airy, the meat is cooked perfectly.... and the ingredients are fresh! It's such a good bite! save yourself a little moolah and order ONE order of fries because it's enough to feed 2-3 people! my only complaint is their not open every time i want them to be. I get that the hours are catered toward lunch.....it makes sense in the area they're in..... but sometimes i want Dandy burger at 8pm!! Absolutely worth the drive from Salem, though the GPS is a bit wacky and we passed it while looking on the opposite side of the street. Once located, we chose one of the two drive through sides and ordered a cheeseburger combo and a double cheeseburger, drink, and order of onion rings. The menu features both a small and large, and I'm glad I asked about the size. Small was plenty enough for two to share with a lot left over. Likewise, the combo includes a bag full of crinkle cut fries, both served with a fry sauce - so if you prefer ketchup, you should ask for it. They also have fresh made shakes with ice cream, milk, and flavors, but didn't receive their delivery and were unable to accommodate orders. There were benches in a grassy area next to the stand, but no table. We drove to the nearest park in hopes of finding a picnic table, but ran into the same issue at the city 'park' in front of the courthouse. Both burgers were juicy, with cheddar (from multiple choices available) and loaded with toppings on a soft bun. I prefer a leaf lettuce and got several chunks of yellowing lettuce from a bagged salad type, but overall, it didn't detract. Onion rings were piping hot and perfectly crisp, as were the fries. If you've got a hankering for a burgers, there's a reason this place has been around so long. They'll fix you up and keep you coming back. We're already planning a trip back for a shake having experienced the love they infused into the burgers! read more

The food is fantastic, and the prices are more than fair!!! Mary and her crew do a great job!! Some people like to complain about her hours and claim that "they are never open", etc. but that is simply not true. This is a Monday-Friday lunch place---nothing more and nothing less! This place is nearby and I will often drive by it. It's hit or miss if it is open so if we are going to get take out food from here we normally have a back up plan if they are closed. I understand it when it was over 115 degrees but there is never any explanation just not open on the days and times that are posted. It is always closed Sunday. This is a cash only business, which I understand is better than paying three percent or more for a Visa/Mastercard, however, a lot of people don't carry cash any more. I just make sure I have some on hand if I plan on going here. That said, the burgers, fries, shakes are well worth it. This place is normally staffed with one person so it takes a bit for the food to come up but it is always worth it. The food isn't inexpensive but the quality of it is vastly superior to your Burger Kings, etc. I'll definitely be back to give this a try again. read more

This is the best burger in Oregon and it's not even close. The burgers and fries are made fresh to order, and the ranch is made in house. The owner is very friendly and I think it had changed ownership a couple years ago so don't let the bad reviews from years ago stop you from trying this place out, it's exceptional. read more

I've wanted to try this place for a long time, but I don't go to Dallas much since the Pressed Coffee Roasters Cafe closed, and this venue is easily slammed. There can be one car at one window and two at the other and, if so, you will have a long wait. The burger is big; I had a hard time to finish it. It is served in an aluminized wrapper that is stiff enough to catch crumbs and grease drips and in dress clothes I appreciate that. The portion of crinkle fries is so generous it made three meals for me! They are fried in fresh oil at the right temperature and come lightly salted. I felt no need for catsup or the fry sauce provided. This is exactly the type of business I like to see spring up in small towns. Next trip, I'll try to get pictures of the (rather extensive) menu, and maybe try their halibut and fries. Can't remember if I saw outside seating; I'd recommend eating in your car or maybe driving to the lovely city park which is ten minutes away. read more

Good freshly made food and friendly service. Cheeseburgers had all the trimmings with toasted buns. Fries were crinkle cut and plentiful. Only downside was the wait as we picked a busy time to arrive and one worker was holding down the fort by herself. By far the best burgers in town. Anyone complaining about the wait time or the fact that he only takes cash has little to no patience or has simply not eaten the food. Every time I have gone here, the wait has been about 5 minutes, 10-13 minutes if there is another car. But it is one person taking the orders and making the food. Ordered a couple of burgers, got them. Figured they would have tomato, onion, something... nope. There was no discussion, and I guess he figured we knew what we were getting. Guess ya gotta be specific. Vibes seemed "off" and I felt like he just isn't happy there. Good burger, liberally but not sloppily dressed with fresh ingredients. Thought price difference for curly fries was a lot until I saw the giant portion! Very friendly customer service, (a young lady). Next time I would order reg fries without the seasoning salt and ketchup instead of fry sauce, just from personal pref. Could easily give five stars for what it is, a simple, good quality burger, but have to leave space for some game-changer out there. This may be a bit long, but you should probably read it if you are seriously considering going here. This place is complete trash. By far the worst customer service I've ever had, anywhere, in my entire life. And no, this is not hyperbole. I've never written a review, good, bad or otherwise, but I feel people need to know about this business. This won't be the only place I will be posting this as people need to know how customers are treated here. So, I've been there three times since they've opened. First two times they messed up the order. Not just a little mess-up like they forgot to put a condiment on my burger. No, more like they completely disregarded my order and gave me what they wanted to. That being said, I decided to give them one last shot today, you know, to support local businesses and all that... big mistake. I pull up and have to wait about three minutes before a surly dude completely bundled up comes to the window, slams it opened, looking perturbed that I was interrupting whatever the heck he was doing back there. There are no other customers there at the time. This is the dialog between him and me. Me: "Hey, I'd like to get the one burger meal thing". Surly Dude: "Yeah, turn off your engine". Now he didn't ask in a polite way. Keep in mind this dude is completely bundled up in a heavy shirt, and a coat. It's also raining sideways. Anyway, annoyed by his attitude I complied and I turn off the engine. Me: "Yeah I guess I'll freeze, anyway I'd like to get the.." He cuts me off. Surly Dude: "Really? You're gonna exaggerate like that?" Again, this guy is bundled up, clearly freezing his ass off as well. Me: "Yeah... I guess so. Anyway I'd like..." He cuts me off again. Surly Dude: "You think I want to smell your fucking exhaust?" To which he points at a sign, which is far below my line of sight. It is not anywhere near the menu, which is where a customer's eyes would be focused on when pulling up. At any rate, I assume it says turn off your car or something; I really didn't look at it as I was so taken aback by this guys comments. At this point I was ready to leave; there is no way would I let a guy like this prepare food for me, or anyone I know for that matter. I started to put on my seat belt, and he says... Seriously, he actually says this. Surly Guy: "Get the fuck out of here, we don't need dumbass people like you around here". I look at this dude and say. "Is this how you really conduct business here?" I start driving away, hearing the guy spout of more expletives about my intelligence among other things. In regards to turning off the engine. 1. It's not like the window doesn't close. I know it does, it was closed when I got there. 2. It's not like he was going to keep it open so he could "smell my fucking exhaust" as he so eloquently put it. Also, its brand new vehicle, emissions are extremely low. 3. Had he asked me nicely I would have gladly turned it off. My retort was purely based on this guy's tone of voice. Also, it's cold out. Freezing? No, but not pleasant by any means. 4. Finally, I am 40 years old, and I have never in my entire life of going through any drive- through, fast food, bank, etc, have been asked to turn off my engine. Maybe this is common, I don't know, but in my experience it has not been. This is the single most unprofessional business I have ever been to. Dropping an F-Bomb to a customer, then insulting them in the same breath is unfathomable. How on Earth are they still in business? Scanning over reviews elsewhere this guy's attitude is constantly being brought up. I am also part of a local business here in Dallas, if we ever spoke to a customer in this way we would be out of business so fast we wouldn't know what hit us, and rightly so. Stay away from this place. Food is mediocre, if they even get your order correct, and service is beyond horrible. Only reason they get one star is because you can't give a 0. read more

Loved this burger! Everything went together perfectly...perfect amount of tomatoe and lettuce and cheese for the patty size (I had the #2/single)...and the bun was nice and fresh and held up to the juicy burger perfectly. And I was skeptical about the fries when I saw they were crinkle cut but they were really good!!!! Overall, we were super happy with Dandy Burger.
