service was so terrible. we ordered a cheese quesadilla with beans and rice and were charged $22. after looking at the receipt, we noticed we were charged a meat quesadilla (almost $7 more than a cheese quesadilla). when we tried to talk to the employee about the error, she argued and potentially gave us a refund and re-ran our card. hoping that we are actually refunded but she was very rude and short about the whole situation. next, the food. there was tomatoes in my cheese quesadilla? rice was white and flavorless and beans were cold. honestly will not be returning due to the decrease in food quality and horrible service. read more

We've basically been going to this restaurant for years. Lately, it just hasn't been the same. We ordered our fav, chicken fajitas. They have raised the price to over $21.00, which is too much for what we got. Our fajita dinner had VERY LITTLE CHICKEN in it and just a few "pieces" of pepper. It was mostly onions!!! I kid you not, we each had about 5-6 small pieces of chicken in our dinner, that was it. Equivalent to about one "chicken tender" at best. It was so ridiculous, we found it to be quite offensive. We work hard for our money and really do not appreciate this type of treatment, over $21.00 for a plate of onions is really offensive!!!!! The wait was not long whatsoever, we went around 6pm. The service was great, not that I'm a person that needs to be checked on a lot but everything was amazing. This place gets a 3 due to service, pricing and speed. The food was typical American Mexican but there were some issues. I had to salt everything. My asada was dry, my husbands steak and chicken were too and the shrimp were chewy. I did like my chili relleno, the egg wasn't burnt but did lack flavor. The beans seemed to be just out of a can with nothing added to them. The rice was mild and again needed salt. I don't know if we will come back unless it's with our small children as the flavor profile suits them. read more

The food is of high quality with fresh, tasty ingredients and there are plenty of options to choose from. Good Mexican food. Only thing that holds me back on giving them a 5 star review would be: 1. The margarita wasn't strong enough, tasted like pure sugar. 2. No beans come with the salsa and chips, which is my favorite part! Other than that, I'd drive here from salem to have some good Mexican food. Ever since the spawners moved way up North to the middle of grass seed farming country, I have been dinning regularly to San Antonio. When I was coming here from the South, the experience was always forgettable. But now since I come here from a Northern home (and thus, my Mexican food experiences have been severely sequestered), I find San Antonio to be a good solid choice. Sure there is the mandatory 50% of the plate filled up with a mound of bland refried & rice. But the main courses though are pretty good. When its available, the Chili Colorado is nice. The Chili Verde is OK. Mole is a strong point. Their creamed shellfish varietals are good. Their chips are excellent. They have a hot verde salsa on special request that is a must have. I would of given them 3.5 stars but rounded up due to the direction I was traveling from on this visit. read more

While in Salem visiting my brother and family decided to take a ride on a beautiful spring day and saw this place and stopped in. We're from SoCal and were surprised to see this place in a farming town and absolutely enjoyed the colorful interior and our waitress enjoyed my attempt at Spanish while ordering, she said I was pretty Bueno! The food was all good and we all had a variety of items, i.e., tacos, burritos, etc. for me I had the Chile Rellenos, very good. All in all a good stop and may be back some day. Adios! read more

Meh. First time here. I had Chile Colorado which had huge chunks of beef in a traditional red sauce, a little heavy in the cumin, refrito frijoles and Spanish rice. Nothing to write home about and relatively bland. We tried it but probably won't be back. My wife had the special, which was pollo en crema. The chicken was pretty dry and the sauce was flavorless. The portions were big but didn't make up for lack of flavor. There are a couple of othe Mexican food restaurants in town and there is a heavy Hispanic influence. Our family loves this restaurant! The staff is so awesome and very friendly and kind! They are always on top of it! Quick to take your order and always check in to see if you need refills or anything else. They have the best salsa! Super fresh and I love that it's kind of spicy sometimes and not mild like other restaurants. They make the best menudo too on the weekends! I will give them 5 stars all day everyday!!
