The best part of this tap house is the availability of food options surrounding it. Parallel does not provide food on premise, but right next door is the best pizza place in the Willamette Valley in New York Squares. The convenience of it, is you order next door, they give you a remote buzzer and when your pizza is ready it buzzes and you go pick it up. If you are not up for pizza there is a handful of food carts around the building as well as other eateries up and down the street.

Their ciders are great, I tried the Viking Cherry Cider and loved it so much I bought a six pack to take home, at $18 for 6 it was still absolutely well worth it. For food my coworker got the Fish and Chips, deep fried in beef tallow for those who avoid seed oils, and said it was excellent. I had a caesar salad and fries to go with my cider and it was a lovely meal. This will absolutely be one of our go-to spots when in Salem from now on.

This establishment is a true hidden gem. While the food prices are a little steep, the quality definitely makes it worthwhile. We will be back!

I had the classic lager and it was meh. This is very subjective I realize but I'd rate it a 4 or 5/10. All things considered, it could have easily been a frustrating experience walking in on one of the busiest nights of the year, but it wasn't. A few patrons came in and out for beers to-go, a few stayed to enjoy beers on-site like us. I quite liked the quiet evening so we could fully soak in the goodness of de Garde beer, the warm atmosphere, and have time to chat with the friendly bartender on shift. We had a few beers on the patio to enjoy the cool coastal air, then moved inside for our next round. We enjoyed sitting in both areas. While all of their beer is phenomenal to us, the stand outs for me were The Purple: Gin Barrel Cuvee and The Renrocha. Although we were flying in from out of State, we took 3 bottles home with us so we could continue savoring the well-crafted beers of de Garde! Can't wait to come back!

The grounds are breathtaking, on a little hillside outside of Mount Angel, just under an hour south Portland. I highly recommend that you take one of the more scenic drives instead of just blasting down I-5, but you do you. It's not a restaurant per se. But there are snacks. And there is a large selection of beer. My partner and I already knew that we had no idea what we wanted because we want everything and that would make driving home extremely difficult. So we opted for the only logical choice: the sampler Their sampler boards come with either four or five slots, and they provide a 4 ounce pour into the sampler glass. We each got a five spot board, and two additional drinking glasses so that we could pour splits, and were thus able to sample 10 of the brews on tap. We also decided that snacks were in order so we got the spinach, artichoke dip, times two. You order at the counter and when your order is prepared, you are called and can pick it up. It's a very simple set up, harkening back to a simpler time in many ways. Some of the taps vary seasonally. Some of them are occasionally just out. I can't tell you what you're going to find. But I can tell you if the Hairshirt, the Half Cloak, and the Little Tyrant are on tap? You definitely want to sample those. This is not typical mid-grade Portland IPA...
