I have eaten here about 10 times, maybe going once a month. About half the time there is some issue…read morewith the service. There is a constantly rotating series of staff, so maybe it is inexperience? However, this last visit is probably the last time I will visit. With their lunches, they offer a soup and then choice of a side. I never understand why the soup comes out with the sandwich or even after the sandwich is delivered. To me soup is always a starter. They say it is being made fresh in the back, which I don't understand how you make a cup of soup fresh every time. Also, in the past, I've always ordered an iced tea which came with free refills. That's common at most restaurants. However, this time I was charged $3.50 each for two iced teas. I questioned it and the server said that it was correct. I checked the menu to see if I'd overlook something, but there is no mention about a no refills policy. An inconsistency for sure.

A waitress greeted me and told me to sit anywhere. It's actually hard to pick a table when the place is empty. Cape 7 has a fairly large dining room. It used to be a Sizzler Restaurant. Before Cape 7, it was "Shell Shock." Cape 7 never changed the Shell Shock decor, so it has a nautical theme. A pirate stands guard by the restrooms. So I sat at a booth by the window. I sat back and the bench seat was broken. A gentleman raced over and switched the bench seats. Wow, you have to be careful when you sit down at Cape 7. I ordered a Denver Omelette w/ hash browns, a side of Pancakes, and Coffee. It took about 10-min for my food to come. By 9am more customers came in. After my food arrived, I didn't see a waitress or waiter for 20-mins. Then the owner arrived, and a waitress checked on my table every 5 mins. The Denver Omelette was made with 4 eggs. The serving size was pretty large. The two pancakes were a bit dry. I needed more butter and syrup. Instead, I used alot of jams (that were on the table). The calamari and gnocchi appetizers were OK but not more elevated than what we could get at a conventional diner. The presentation was somewhat reminiscent of cafeteria food. We were disappointed though still finished our meal. The atmosphere at CK is lit just right for romance without being too dark, completely clean, relaxed yet unsurprisingly quite empty for a Saturday night. The value of the meal was not reflective of the high rating that attracted us to CK in the first place. We likely will pay what we did for a better overall dinner experience elsewhere and consider trying out CK for brunch.

Someone else was treating me to coffee, so I wasn't about to make an issue out of 50 cents at the register, but seeing a literal upcharge for ICE definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. And actually, this isn't our first questionable upcharge here. The last time my colleague came in, they ordered a veggie breakfast burrito and paid extra to add avocado...only to get back to work, open it up, and realize there was no avocado in the burrito. So they paid the upcharge for absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, my Horchata Latte didn't save today's experience either. It tasted like anything BUT horchata and absolutely there was no cold foam or cinnamon on top as advertised on their menu. I kept waiting for that cinnamon-y, creamy horchata flavor to show up and...it never did. I think I speak for all when I say, STOP Ai-ing your menus and photos for drinks when they look nothing as advertised. The service itself was friendly, so no complaints there, but between the alternative milk upcharge, paying extra just to have a drink iced, the previous avocado situation, and then not really enjoying the drink itself, I honestly don't have much of a reason to come back for a third try. Charging for ice is wildddd. Nah, I'm cool.

I finally stopped by Dandelion Kaffe and I'm already looking forward to coming back! We ordered the Bulgogi Croissant, Kimchi Spam Fried Rice, Tiramisu Matcha, and Tiramisu Latte, and honestly everything was delicious. The Bulgogi Croissant was one of my favorites. The croissant was buttery and flaky, and the bulgogi was flavorful without being too heavy. The Kimchi Spam Fried Rice was also really good and had the perfect amount of flavor and spice. The fried egg on top tied everything together. For drinks, the Tiramisu Matcha and Tiramisu Latte were both amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect, but they were creamy, rich, and not overly sweet. The tiramisu flavor paired surprisingly well with both drinks and made them feel like a dessert and coffee all in one. The café itself has a cozy atmosphere and is a great spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a relaxing breakfast or brunch. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. They happily chatted at the counter and told me they had put two years of work into opening this place and that they were grateful to finally have it open. When it comes to the drinks, I ordered the Matcha and Café de Olla. The Matcha was a bit disappointing since it wasn't very flavorful and tasted slightly watered down, but the Café de Olla saved the day, with a rich flavor and subtle sweetness. The food, however, is what really surprised me. Honestly, if it weren't for the Matcha, they would have earned a full five stars off the food alone! I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which on its own was a solid, run-of-the-mill bacon, egg, and cheese. But the small side salad with house-made dressing was truly unique and worth a visit all on its own. If you're looking for more than just drinks at a café, give this place a try--they deserve it, and so do you!
