Food was superlative. I had the chicken and waffles. Chicken came out tender and stayed tender (did not congeal and harden when cooked). Waffles were not rock hard. Perhaps could be crispier but not sure that would have helped the dish. As it was it was easy to eat and a nice foil to the chicken. I could tell the chicken had been marinated overnight. Drinks were good. Honey hibiscus tea and mint agua Fresca were refreshing. Service is fast. You order then sit. Waitstaff attentive but seemed to be rushing people to finish. To be fair there was a line from the counter to the door. Ambiance is good. Truly a local spot. Multiple locations in Houston but a local chain. Lots of different people come here. read more

Better luck tomorrow? What started as a spontaneous impromptu brunch because we were in the area to drop off my hubs car at a shop, quickly turned into disappointment! It was MLK Monday, so a holiday, which probably means many people had the day off. Not sure what the typical hustle and bustle of Dandelion looks like, but they were pretty slammed on this late Monday morning! There was a line, and initial hindsight, tables were dirty, floors were sticky, and the staff member at the register clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed...she was not friendly, and for a patron to be excited to try this new place, the staff didn't reciprocate this at all. No recommendations, no "is this your first time?"... The restaurant is crowded for the space. Seating, and just overall feels cramped and messy. Wall art, ceiling with dandelion chandeliers, etc...it was a bit much and overwhelming. Noisy, and squishy. We ordered the Strawberry stuffed French toast, the black bean tostada, and two orange juices. They were also out of their entire "juices" options... a bit disappointing... The strawberry French toast was supposed to be on brioche...I'm not sure if it truly was brioche or not but in my opinion, it was a bit dry and overall I wasn't a fan... My black bean tostada, while I appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and that the tostada retained its crispness, it was cold. Beans were cold, salsa was cold, and the overall temperature of my food was not to par. For what both dishes were, it wasn't anything I haven't tasted before. Dang...as I saw this on online and thought how nice this experience would be. Oh how I was completely wrong I ran up a 60 dollar tab with just 3 dishes for me and my wife to try and disappointed barely fits the feeling. No server as it's order and go so we had to grab everything ourselves. Chicken was as bland as paper and the waffle was decent along with the biscuit. The hash browns tasted like old freezer burnt potatoes and I think that's what put me off the most. Cute and trendy are perfect words to describe Dandelion Cafe. Tucked away in a strip shopping center, this cozy cafe was the perfect place to stop for breakfast on our way back to SA. It was pretty busy when we arrived, but we were able to grab a table (under the cute paper flowers). I ordered the strawberry stuffed French Toast and hubs got an egg and cheese sandwich on a pretzel roll. This is a very homey, cottage-core style brunch place. I ordered an Avocado toast and honey latte. The toast was amazing, and came with a side of fruit. The bread seemed to be some sort focaccia bread, but wasn't that flavorful. Service is quick, friendly, and polite! I docked two stars because it was a bit overpriced and the latte tasted normal, not like Honey. I paid $20 for the entire set. Nestled just south of the hustle & bustle of Galleria area, Dandelion sits back in strip mall just off Bellaire & Chimney Rock. Restaurant itself isn't extremely big, yet there's enough space to constantly keep a decent crowd. Dandelion's accent the cafes ceiling, the floor to ceiling windows provide a nice backdrop while taking time for some coffee or pastry, in my case the Lemon Berry French Toast Stix. The Lemon Berry French Toast Stix are PHENOMENAL! The flavor of the blueberry compote offsets the lemon sauce which isn't overtly tart, yet the of whip cream adds just the perfect level of sweetness to bring it all together. went to check it out after hearing it was one of Houston's best chicken and waffles. located in the bellaire triangle plaza, there were plenty of parking spaces available. as for the dish, it is important to note that it is a cornbread waffle so don't expect the usual sweet and soft waffles. i found these to be a little on the drier side and tasted more like cornbread. (not that it's a bad thing, i did really enjoy it). This is one of a few places I'm willing to stand in line for the pleasure of dining there. You can expect to find a line immediately after walking in the door and most of the tables full. Dandelion Cafe isn't very large so you may have some concern about seating but hang in there, the process works. For the food, I've been twice and have not been disappointed with my orders or bites that were shared with me. This trip I had the Dandy Classic with maple sausage and scrambled eggs. Always a great choice. I also ordered a single pancake that literally covers a 12" plate. Well we recently visited Dandelion Cafe. This place competed on Good Morning America "United States of Breakfast" competition for the ultimate chicken and waffles in June 2023. They didn't win but I have to say their food is tasty. T had the chicken and waffles, which I tasted and they weren't bad... even with sugar free syrup. The waffle has a bit of a cornmeal/cornbread texture, which was different but tasty. I had the BLTA sandwich which was kinda flavorless and overpriced, plus it didn't come with anything but house made pickled cucumbers and carrots, which I did love . The hashbrowns stood out to me as they were seasoned really well and I didn't add any condiments to my breakfast even though I would typically add salt or ketchup. The only reason I did not give it a 5/5 star review is because it's not very cozy and the aesthetic of the inside and food presentation isn't exceptional. We heard the hype about this place for their chicken and waffle so I went to give it a try and I promise it did not disappoint at all! It was the best chicken and waffles ever! I really liked Dandelion Cafe and thought it was a very cute, local cafe. Our group shared an order of the pancakes and the biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were SO good (soft with a little bit of crispy on the edges), and they were also gigantic--the order comes with two pancakes that are bigger than your face. The biscuits and gravy were good too, and I particularly liked the maple pan sausage that came with it. Service was very nice--everyone who worked there seemed very sweet. First time going to this place, because I saw that it had one of the best breakfast in Houston. Their set up is a little different as you have to order your food first before you can sit down... But no worries because by the time you order there should be a seat/seats available so it all works out. Finally went to Dandelion Café after many times postponing. I was eager to try and leave my trusted Heights and beyond favorite brunch/ breakfast haunts (Citizens of Montrose, Brasil, Common Bond, Teotihuacán, etc.). Taught me a lesson. I had watched GMA as Dandelion won best breakfast (Chicken and Waffles) so I figured the "greatness" extended to all their food. Boy was I mistaken. Assuming it would be busy, got up early and with a friend headed from 43rd and Yale to Bellaire to give it a try. Ordered the Chilaquiles and friend had omelette of sorts (pics below). Not so good Chilaquiles!!!! I swear they opened a can of Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies poured it over some chips and added some scrambled eggs and called it Chilaquiles. This was seriously not Chilaquiles as I know them. Friend's omelette was not as bad but close. Now to their credit most folks looked like they were eating waffles and chicken so perhaps that's the only item to try. Coffee was good though.
