    Denver Omelette with grits

We were fairly close. Decided that it was cute from the photos. Stopped on a Saturday morning. Fairly busy. Fast services. Classic diner. Nothing fancy and everything was to the point. My eggs were cooked perfectly. Loved the crispy bacon. Servings were great for the cost. The grits that came with my husbands was an entire bowl most places. Not pictured were the biscuits or bagel. Biscuits were nice and flaky. The bagel was decent. Not a New York one of course. But not sad like most Texas ones would be. The waitress was polite. Made sure to offer plenty of options.

Part of my primary reTIREDment plan has been to visit our adult children and help out when possible. SO, we have temporarily re-located from our home in the "¡Hidden Gem of the World, Crossroads of North America, anchored by El Paso, Cd. Juárez y Las Cruces!" to HoustonTX-USA where we can give our most favorite #1 grandchildren undivided attention, as well as being closer to our daughter in Austin. One if my personal favorite activities is cycling, and my most favorite morning-only drink is CAFFEINATED COFFEE! Since residing here, I've become quite familiar with numerous shops offering the stimulating liquid (which seems to be just about everywhere catering to customers!). I was intrigued by "Bellaire Coffee" and had to stop. Turns out, it is a traditional cafe, open (M-Sa, 06:00-14:00; Su, 07:00-13:00), but for me are its Greek roots, very symbolic of the many different immigrants who made Texas in the past/present/future. This was a friendly albeit busy eatery, mostly filled with locals both meeting/greeting in an immaculate institution of excellent food! It took me a short while looking over the menu before I finally chose a Florentine omelette with grits/wheat toast and a never-empty cup of coffee. It was simply a delightful experience, all for less than $20usd (major cards accepted). I definitely recommend BELLAIRE COFFEE; it has my coveted "¡Wheel of Approval!"

Bellaire Coffee Shop has been around for years and years. I wanted someplace different this morning and decided to stop for breakfast Lots of old timers as well as other regulars eat here weekly and some daily. Service is stellar and freshly-made food comes out pretty quick. After my training followed by a long walk, I was in a healthy mood and ordered an egg white omelet and instead of hash browns or grits plus toast, I opted to substitute sliced tomatoes. My water was refilled and server was very welcoming and pleasant. I'll definitely return.

Hidden gem in the Bellaire area. Sat down, ordered and food came out super fast. Super friendly service. Food tasted great!

We drove by this place many times and always commented "we need to try this place".....today we did it, great food and friendly people. My wife saw chicken livers with mushrooms and onions on the breakfast menu, she got hash browns, wheat toast and two eggs over medium to go with it....not my breakfast of choice but she liked it. I enjoyed a he man breakfast, 2 eggs over medium, two pancakes and ham. Loved everything except they don't serve it with butter, just margarine. Nice fluffy pancakes, egg just right and good ham. I noticed they have a few Greek menu options, I may be trying some of these on our next "looming on the near horizon" visit.

Recently she had an afternoon appointment and I was able to swing by and join her. When her appointments were completed, it was in the beginning of peak traffic time, so we decided to walk over to DS and have a bite to eat and catch up This space is so open as well as cozy. Soon as you enter, you head straight to the counter to order. From there, you're given a number and choose your seat. Booth and table options are available. On a Thursday afternoon, the place wasn't busy but not empty, which gave my Mom and I the opportunity to catch up without a noisy dining room. The food came out fresh and hot and for the price, we were surprised by the portion since its was the $10 HH burger and fries. The fountain drinks were interesring as well. DS does not have Coke or Pepsi products. They have similiar flavors you would find with those brands. I enjoyed the Mexican Coke. It seemed to not be as fizzy aa your own well know caffenated Compadres but still carried a great flavor. Let me not skip over the dessert! Mom LOVED the pecan pie which she states had whole pecans instead of pieces. I did not wven notice that she had been getting pieces of the pie as we talked. Half of it was gone when we left. That means is pretty scrumptous! I had enough willpower to eat my chocolate chip cookie when I got home and it was worth the wait! Not only is the cookie huge, but the semi sweet chocolate and sea salt is chef's kiss. Grat combo of both worlds. Combine that with the crunchy outisude and chewy, gooey interior and this is one of the best cookies I've tasted in a long time. So glad to dish all this goodness to Yelpers and remind them of another gem in West U that will not only give you a great place to get a bite but satisfy that sweet tooth.

I stopped by with my buddy on a Thursday evening close to 9 p.m. Free parking was a cinch in the parking lot they share with several other businesses. Service (4.5/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. The lady who brought me my food checked on me twice and was super nice. She called me "sweetheart," a little Southern hospitality goes a long way. Ambiance (4/5): Modern, clean, and comfortable. In line with other Dish Society locations I've been to. We sat at a booth/table combo. Drinks (4.5/5): I love when a restaurant has more than your standard selection of soft drinks. You'll find that at Dish Society. They have "craft" sodas and a nice selection of juice blends. Plus sweet and unsweet tea. Food (4/5): I went with a cup of the tomato bisque soup and the Nutella French toast. The soup tasted as good as it looked. Some croutons or a piece of garlic bread would have been nice, but outside of that, this starter couldn't have been better. The Nutella French Toast was similarly well done. I love French Toast and I love Nutella. So this was a match made in heaven. Along with some sliced strawberries and some blackberries, I was happy I went with a breakfast dish for dinner (they serve brunch all day). The prices are affordable for the quality of the food. My only complaint? The portion sizes are pretty small. Case in point: two slices of French toast when most places will give you four. Pro tip: Join their club for discounts.

Portions are large/filling and we felt the food was delicious and a good value for money. When we arrived the line was long and menus were not available so we had to search for the menu on the website to avoid deciding at the counter and holding up the people behind us. After ordering, tables were cleaned consistently and service was friendly. Only feedback about seating was outside parties would take chairs from other tables and leave them with no seating and not all tables we're shaded. The drinks being available at the bar when it is busy and then food being delivered to the table was a bit clunky. I picked up water and utensils for our party before sitting and would have preferred to have to pick everything up at the counter or have everything brought to the table to avoid multiple trips around when the restaurant is busy.

Similarly to their more popular location in Memorial (#2), this outside of this Bellaire spot doesn't immediately tell the full story. The interior has an industrial vibe, with the high ceilings and overhead fixtures, but as converted into a solid dining space. The large tilted mirrors in the main area are reminiscent of the now defunct Helen's (#3) and makes for a fun (or perhaps distracting) visual. The spacious layout allows breathing room for all kinds of groups. Service has been good overall, and prompt throughout every visit. The American bistro inspired menu has a decent amount of variety that spans from brunch to a tasty weeknight dinner and a drink. Their starters have a variety of tasty bites that include the white truffle eggs, wicked wings, prosciutto-melon burrata, Mama Pauley's meatballs, and a very addicting chipotle pimento cheese dip. While I appreciate the vegan-friendly hippie chickpea croquettes, it needed just a bit more seasoning. Their bacon double cheeseburger has been deemed "insta-famous" and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's juicy, a little messy, but a lot delicious. It paired well with their large cut fries (consider upgrading to the truffle fries), but the house made chips are also a good light bite. Their salads are equally fabulous from their classic caesar to a hearty cobb salad. I wasn't as impressed with the crunchy Asian salad, but thought their faro salad was a thumbs up. Understandably, the priciest meals are some of their grilled and house specialty meals, such as a prime tenderloin filet ($42), Mediterranean roasted redfish ($36), twelve hour ribs ($29), and rosemary-lemon chicken ($29), all of which are solid. I feel the buttermilk chicken tender platter ($19) is really meant for children, but is great for any tender lover in the bunch. Their weekly "features" are a series of daily specials that range from prime rib nights on Wednesdays and ribeyes on Thursdays, and "kids eat free" specials + their happy hour give folks plenty of reason to check it out. ___________ ( #1) Especially during their seasonal deals which can sometimes include steep discounts.
