Wonderful drinks and some of the best customer service we've ever experienced! Vivian went above and beyond telling us about the menu and how she crafts each drink and baked good. I highly recommend coming here, even if it's a bit out of your way!

Banana bread:) Wasn't heavy in tummy, nice flavor without being sticky.

The cafe is a hidden gem located in the Asian Society museum...but there is a door from the outside into the cafe. The outdoor seating is nice, dog friendly, and a misting system periodically goes off creating a light, cool breeze. They even validate parking in the lot across the street! I had the banana bread and a Japanese style cheesecake...both were delicious:). In chatting with the staff I learned that they use flour from a Texas farmers coop and it makes the breads not feel heavy in your tummy. The Asian inspired lunch meals aren't made with any fish bone meal, making them safe for folks like my friend with seafood allergies. Though menu is largely vegetarian it's not strictly vegetarian. My friend had the hot dog bites which were pieces of a quality hot dog wrapped in a light pastry shell...she liked them.

Sesame noodles with , cucumbers, pickled julienned carrots w/brown sugar. Brown sugar matcha latte and jasmine pearls green tea

I rarely go to Asia society unless there was something I was really interested. The last time was Christine Ha's book signing which was years ago. Back then I didn't realize they had a cafe. Fast forward to no, the cafe is called Kin Cafe. It is a vegan cafe. From the menu,, the vegan focus on the menu is discreet. I tried the sesame noodles with eggplant, pickled julienned carrots, kimchi and a touch of brown sugar. For the drink I tried brown sugar matcha and jasmine pearls green tea. The sesame noodles was a good balance of the peanut sauce and the slight kick of the kimchi. It was very satisfying. The brown sugar matcha was a good blend. None of the flavors overpower the other flavors. The ambience is very open since 2 sides have all mostly windows. It's the first thing you see when you walk in Asia society. It's nice place to chill and a great compliment to Asia society.

Agora is such a staple coffee shop in Houston. None others have quite the same dark wood ambiance…read morethat feels breathable and visible. I love the upper level deck and snagging a cute table overlooking a window. It's definitely a 'one size fits all' that is great for morning work/studying, light afternoon catch up, or a cozy late night vibe. Traditionally, I've seen a lot of people studying during the week while a bit more of a lively feel on weekend evenings. People are very polite but do follow the courtesy of waiting to find a table until after they order, since it can get a little busy. Overall, they are quick with coffee orders with a variety of pastries. Parking is difficult (but it is Montrose!), so anticipate adding a little time to your drive to find a spot. Worth checking out!

Honest review? Feels like a forced vibe environment. Seems…read morechill but it's far from it. There's so much to complain about but the previous reviews + what people say on socials aren't not lying. Management is a cop. Parking is a nightmare, god forbid they decide to tow you. I was told by a shop owner to avoid the parking lot and just park on the street bc it's, 'safer'. Wild right? Also I almost fell down those steep stairs like wtf? No warning signs, no grippy tape just straight up old creaky loose wood and a sharp angle down. Out of all the cafes I've been (and my god there's been a lot I mean it's Houston) this is the only one that everyone tries their hardest to seem nonchalant while packed. It's lame. In my honest, non-hateful opinion Agora isn't it. Coffee is... just coffee.
