Perfectly balanced and refreshing, and the strawberry was sweet. My issues reside with the overall flow of service. The cashiers were very sweet. However I feel the system itself can be improved. It was hard to distinguish who was in line for drinks versus who was waiting. It was also super packed and minimal AC (at least 35 people). There were people inside and outside waiting. My drink took about 23 minutes before it was ready. The milk within the drinks was left sitting on the counter- essentially getting warm as they were batched once orders came in. With knowing how long it'll take before they are ready, pouring the milk closer to the drink being done would help keep the item fresh. Especially when using alternatives like oat milk. A patron suggested adding a digital screen to help people seeing their name if their order was ready. Drinks were left dying on the counter since some people walked off until the estimated time their order would be ready. It's great the business is getting traction, I think there are some logistical factors that could be corrected. I've come here a separate time on a weekday morning and it was also busy. Though I love the matcha I'd probably opt for a slower business or just not coming on the weekends. It was a frustrating experience. The caffeine definitely hit me that day, but overall the drink just felt like any other iced coffee. I think La La Land is my favorite matcha in Houston. Bold statement, I know. But the quality and consistency is amazing every time! First, I love the place. It is super cute and the attention to detail in the packaging does not go unnoticed. The heart shaped straws, the cups, the sturdiness of everything is much appreciated. Service is fast and workers are friendly! 1) Matcha Squared - my go-to, perfect ratio of matcha and milk, sweet, creamy, strong. Matcha forward and sweet at the same time without one note being too overpowering. Also, I love how it is not clumpy or gritty at all. 2) Keith Lee Matcha - honestly, I can't tell the difference between this and the matcha squared 3) World's Best Salted Vanilla Latte - i prefer their matchas over their espresso lattes. This one was almost toffee caramel like and the salt adds a nice touch. Is it the 'world's best' ...maybe not, but it is decent. 4) Truffle Burrata Toast - Truffle oil drizzled burrata atop a mountain of mushed avocado on a chewy sourdough toast. The sprinkle of chili flakes on top adds a slight kick and the truffle oil gives it a salty umami accent, attributing to the bulk of the flavor for the toast. My favorite part about the toast is the sourdough bread itself. It has a fantastic chew and mouthfeel, great slight crisp- the kind that is crispy yet soft enough for you not to shred the roof of your mouth, and perfect thickness 5) La La Land toast - i actually prefer this over the truffle burrata surprisingly (since i am a fiend for truffle). After seeing so many TikToks and social media posts about this café, my sister and I felt obligated to try it out and see if the hype was worth it. At this point, I have visited twice, and while I think the place is good, I would not call it great. I can see why this drink is a fan favorite, because the flavor combination was fun and unique. On my second visit, I tried the iced Lavender Bloom Latte, and I was extremely disappointed. The matcha tasted watered down, there was hardly any lavender flavor, and the lavender milk portion of the drink was dyed an artificial purple that made it look unappetizing and off-putting. To top it off, they gave me a complimentary croissant, which sounded like a nice surprise until I took a bite and realized it was stale and dry. No wonder it was free. Overall, this café is Instagram-worthy and has some creative drinks, but for me, the quality does not fully match the hype or the price. Still, it was pretty cute inside, and the service was pretty fast despite it being packed. I got the white mocha ice latte because I asked for the sweetest drink, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Yes, it's definitely an expensive place, so if you don't want $8 coffee drinks, it's probably not for you, but it's fun to get once in a while. They also have cool and quirky drinks that look pretty to take pictures.
