Bunch of stuff

This place was great, my wife and i met up with some friends and got some coffee and some sweets. Would recommend the creme brûlée.

Update to my previous review. I wanted to come back to see if the. cioccalattini torte was as good as I remembered. It was.

Cute, classy, simple cafe vibes. Italian inspired cafe with your traditional coffees offering brunch options and gelato! They have a rotating special menu in the front so be sure to take a look at what they have if you want something more snazzy than a cup of coffee! Limited seating inside with even less options close to an outlet so be wary if you are trying to study here for extended hours. Very limited free parking in the area. I ended up paying to park on the street.

Baklava
Darian C.

I got a baklava and it was super dense and sweet. I wanted to try there other pastries but everything was a bit expensive. It has a lot of seating on the inside with plugs which is good for working but it can get a bit loud. The workers were nice and explained the pastries to us well.

Had the ricotta beignet, chocolate truffle, espresso shakerato, and tomato basil soup. All incredible...that soup is better than La Madeleine even! I like sweet coffee so the espresso shakerato was delicious and texture was amazing but I will def ask for maybe a splash of syrup next time (completely a personal preference). But even for a sweet coffee drinker, it was super smooth and had a hint of sweet hazelnut. I sat outdoor and atmosphere in this area is perfect. Lots of paid street parking and free 2 hour street parking. Great find off the main street area.

Iced Mocha Iced Chai Latte Pistachio diplomatica Pistachio cannoli

Good Italian pastries but the coffee wasn't stellar. We got the pistachio cannoli - 5/5, perfectly flaky cannoli shell with fresh piped cream Pistachio diplomatica - 4/5, the cream and cake were good and moist but the pastry on top was a little dry Coffees were only okay. The staff was initially pleasant but they got some of our order wrong and argued with us after one thing so we didn't even bother correcting the second time. There are some seating options inside and a little area outside which was nice to sit on a pleasant day.

Fellini cafe

A very cute Italian cafe in the heart of Rice Village and as can be expected kinda expensive. We were hungry after all the morning walk in Hermann Park and made a big order of Latte with extra shot, Caprese avocado toast, pistachio biscotti, and a fruit tart. Afterall, I had to make up for the 200 calories I burned just now .... Lol We took the little private looking booth inside the cafe, but they do have plenty seating area outside as well. Loved the toast, it's literally avocado on toast, but with the cheese and balsamic vinegar on top, it really came together as a light tasty healthy breakfast The biscotti was ok. Coffee was nice, but I should mention extra hot next time. The tart , hmmm, was Not good. The crust was really hard, there was too much custard that had lost its moisture and was unsavory. Service was fast and they brought out the food to the table. The staff put on a professional behavior which is perfectly acceptable by me. What I loved even more free parking (but limited) in an area which had plenty shade for my precious new car, maybe that time of the day..... whatever, but that felt welcoming.

Flourless chocolate cake

Been here once before years back. Nice to find a cafe that's open late. Wasn't too packed and it was quiet and a good temperature inside which I enjoyed & it made us comfortable to hang out for a while. I just got a flourless chocolate cake and cappuccino. Cake was sooo good and a nice size slice. Cappuccino was below average though and since it's a cafe that's kinda disappointing. My friend said her chai latte tasted like milk as well. Probably will come back as they have some cool affogato and coffee options I'd like to try!

This used to be one of my favorite spot in the Rice Village. Yesterday we came here for coffee and desserts after eating at Kasra. The place has not been the same. Slow service and staffs didn't look friendly. We had the puff pastry strawberry and it taste like it had been in the glass window for many days. We ordered some tea and coffee and it took a long time even though it was almost closing time and there were no one at the ordering lines beside us. After this time , I don't think I want to come back anymore Coffee is not great and so the desserts

Affogato

Met up with a friend here to hang out. This place has fantastic vibes. It's clean, fresh, and sharp. It was also not crowded, and it was easy to have a conversation comfortably. I got an affogato al cafe and it was good. They have a ton of gelato choices, and I recommend asking the staff for recommendations. The gelato was a little too sweet for my liking and it's a bit pricy (~$7), but you get 3 full scoops. Overall I had a positive experience here!

Best coffee shop/cafe around! It's so beautiful when you walk in, with a bright clean atmosphere and upscale clientele. The owner is a sweetheart and the staff are so friendly. Not only is the coffee selection amazing, but the food is to die for! A great place for brunch or to get some work done on your laptop while sipping something nice and munching on delicious bites.

Monique T.

Great service- gelato, lots of great options, and diverse menu. We did ask for the crème- and I think the person heard us ask for cream cake. Cannoli looks like it's made filled per order. And chocolate & cherry gelati were good!!!

Does this place have brunch? What's a good place for brunch in Rice Village?

Hi! No, unfortunately no brunch here. Usually a quiche and sweets. Check out Coco Crepes or Le Peep in Rice Village for brunch menu options. Hope that helps! :)

Grinder's Coffee Bar came up and it was right across the street so I made my way over. I arrived around 1 p.m. on a Wednesday. I parked in their small complimentary lot and made my way inside. Ambiance (3.5/5): Grinder's is basically two spots in one. When you walk in, there's a small counter where you place your order. And a handful of seats. From there, you wan walk into a more spacious second room that houses a CBD shop. And more seating along with the bathroom. I sat at a couch in the CBD area. While weed isn't my thing, if you're into both weed and coffee, that makes for a nice one-two punch for you. There isn't a ton of seating, less so than most coffee shops. Luckily, since it was a weekday, I didn't have any trouble. I wonder if that's different on the weekends. They also have free WiFi if you'd like to linger and work or study. Service (2.5/5): The menu is a little confusing because they have a menu on the counter and a menu on the wall with different items. I didn't see that there was a menu on the counter until I was about to place an order. They also have some beverages in a cooler that aren't on either menu. Not the best set up. Service wasn't terribly friendly either. Food (N/A): Since I just had lunch prior, no food for me. They have a small, but appetizing number of pastries and small bites for sale if you get the munchies (pun intended). Drinks (3.5/5): I'm not a coffee drinker so take this with a grain of salt. When I go to a coffee shop, I like coffee shops that still have a nice selection of teas and juices. Grinder's has a small number of teas that can be made either hot or iced. I went with one, iced, and sweetened with agave (for a surcharge). I liked it and the price was reasonable. They also had a mocktail of sorts that was available on their seasonal menu, although like most mocktails, overpriced. While not really my vibe, if you're a CBD person, Grinder's will be right up your alley. It's a unique spot and located in a great part of town.

I've ordered both espresso and matcha lattes, and although I'm more of a coffee person they were both so tasty! The interior is very open with lots of light, and there are a lot of seating options so I've never had trouble finding a place to sit. Wifi is fast and convenient for studying or working. Parking is also very easy. I will definitely be back! I've also tried a pilates class at their attached studio which was a lot of fun! I…read morefirst learned about Duo through signing up for a pilates class, and I fell in love with the place more through the people and the vibes in the connected coffeehouse. From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Overall, I am just amazed by the people, the vision, and the gem of a place that I sort of happened into on a random weekend. I will definitely be returning again frequently for pilates, lattes, and/or fun conversations. Pro tip: initially it looks like visitors have to use street parking, but I confirmed with the staff that the parking lot across from the coffeehouse is free to use as well. Pro tip #2: there is option to order ahead with the QR code in image attached. I have not tried, but that may help skip the lines and make it easier for drink pickup. Pro tip#3: going for pilates here makes it so much easier to grab a quick bite or drink before/after workout!
