So many of their pastries stared back at me but I decided on the ham and cheese empanada - so fresh, warm and flakey in the best way possible! The owner was kind enough to go out of his way to stop in and make sure everything was delicious and to talk to me about the shop. He even gifted me a Peruvian desert called alfajor... it literally melted in my mouth!!! What an unexpected treat! I'm a sucker for kind people who pour love into their business. Great spot! The customer service here is genuinely warm and welcoming. The space has these nice big windows that let in tons of natural light. Coffee is well balanced, not too sweet, and they have yummy options for light bites. Everything is clean and well kept. I studied here for a few hours and the WiFi held up with zero issues. Parking is free in the garage connected to the building, which is a huge plus. It's a bit of a smaller shop but not too busy when I visited. Stopped by Kona on a Monday afternoon, a lovely off day! It was my first time here so I took some time to explore the menu and eventually went with one of their signature drinks - the Kailua Latte. It comes with Oat Milk Latte with Vanilla & Cinnamon Bun Syrup. The ambiance is chill, relaxing, the ultimate quiet coffee shop vibe. Great service and the baristas were friendly and helpful because I did have a few questions about the drink I ordered. I learned that the Kailua Latte was the cashiers favorite drink! We stopped by to try the coffee and order the Kona Reserve Warrior blend pour over and it was really good. I drink mine black and it was smooth and did not have an aftertaste. I stopped in on my way to work because I've had great coffee experiences in Hawaii and was curious to see how Kona Reserve stacked up. I ordered the Lavender Bloom oat milk latte (lavender syrup, vanilla syrup, and cinnamon powder), and it struck a nice balance--not overly sweet or overpowering, just smooth and comforting. I also grabbed a spam musubi and expected it to be chilled and grab-and-go, but it came out piping hot. A great addition to the Houston coffee scene! They have a lot of non-coffee specialty drinks which is always an added plus for me. Hawaii is one of my favorite vacation spots so I had to get something that had a Hawaii spin to it. Mac nut seemed like the way to go. We grabbed an Aloha latte (contains Macadenia nut) and Kona milk tea. Both were delicious! I especially liked their milk tea which was not overly sweet and had a floral hint to it. Parking was a little confusing. They do have free parking but basically there are two garage entrances to the plaza one for contract and the other for visitor. Pay attention to the signs. read more

We picked this place because we love Hawaiian coffee! The parking was street parking and behind the location. This place is beautiful!!!! So clean, sleek, modern! Very quiet, literally everyone was on a laptop, no talking. I got a dirty chai latte with oatmilk and it was very creamy! No complaints. We were a table of 5 people so we were chatting and having a great time! Upon leaving the owner actually introduced himself to us and asked us about our experience. We gave positive feedback and he thanked us! We don't live in Houston and picked this for our love of Hawaiian coffee and it was such a good choice. I tried the Kona Reserve Milk Tea and I really liked the flavor. A 12 oz came out to between $6-$7, which I do think is high but also isn't far from the norm of most coffee shops these days unfortunately. There's a free garage for visitors at one end of the back of the building. The other end is for contract parking which I mistakenly went into at first. Their menu had some interesting drink options so i'd be open to coming back and trying something new as well read more

Continuing my tour of Houston spots to work on my dissertation, I found myself out at Kona. Its a very bright, quiet spot that was conducive to working (wifi, outlets, chairs/tables). It wasn't the largest space but it wasn't overly crowded on a Saturday afternoon. This is a Hawaiian coffee shop that's located in a sort of businessy area. Its on the first floor of some sort of office building so there's some other food places as well as attached, underground parking (which is free). I ordered the royal kona milk tea and really enjoyed it (more than some boba shops in the area). The tea was very smooth and creamy and it had a slight floral hint to it. I would definitely come back just to get more milk tea! They also have quite a few options for coffee, which all sounded excellent. You could even get some lunch/snack options like sandwiches and spam misubi. read more

First time checking this place out and I loved the atmosphere. Plenty of sunlight coming through the windows. Hawaiian-themed music at a low volume. Very clean overall with outlets near most tables. The vibe was very peaceful and quiet, but not dead silent like a library. I didn't need to put on my noise cancelling headphones, which is something I find myself needing to do in most coffee shops. The seating at regular tables felt standard -- not cushioned, but not uncomfortable either. The parking garage adjacent to the coffee shop is free and was mostly empty when I visited on a Sunday afternoon. I only got the Spam Musubi as a snack since I needed to send out a couple of emails, but it tasted great. I would definitely come back here during lunch time if I was in the area and needed to get work done. read more

You can park in the garage which is free parking. A good spot to do work or study. Plenty of tables to sit at. I ordered my favorite iced chai with a classic spam musubi. I love spam musubi in Hawaii so I was excited to see it on the menu. Good rice ratio to the spam and it came out warm. Services were friendly and quick. I must say this place surprised me. My husband and I decided to come here after an early appointment because we needed coffee. I usually just order a regular latte but I saw that the aloha latte had macadamia flavor and I like this flavor so I went ahead and splurged. I thought I was going to regret it but it was delicious and it gave me the jolt I needed to jumpstart my morning. My husband got the kailua latte and it was good also. I am docking one star because their coffee is pretty expensive. The aloha latte and kailua latte were $6.90 each. They also have gelato, spam musubi, pastries, and sandwiches. Driven past this place a couple of times after shopping at Costco and finally had the chance to try it. First off parking isn't bad as they have a covered garage free for guests. Always nice when you can park your car especially when it's protected from the horrible Texas heat. As the name suggests, this is a Hawaiian inspired shop. Not entirely sure if they're from the islands, but the place is decked out in Hawaiian decor. The drink and food menu also reflects the Hawaiian inspiration, they even have multiple options for musubi. They also offer pastries, sandwiches and even gelato! They have plenty of seating so you can de get some work done here. They also have a few outside seating. I got the iced Kailua latte and my wife got the Aloha latte - both drinks were extremely good. The aloha was probably my favorite. The combo of white chocolate and macadamia with their espresso was so decadent it's the perfect "sweet coffee drink". Overall pretty cool Hawaiian inspired coffee shop. The workers were friendly and the drinks are pretty good. I will say we did pay almost $7 per specialty drink which is a little steep for me. I needed a pick me up, so I stopped by for lunch. I got two coffees and a muffin for $20, yikes. I was excited to try this place since I fell in love with the macadamia coffee from Hawaii, when I visited a while back. To my understanding/surprise, they don't serve that kind of coffee. I was a bit disappointed but still wanted to give their two most popular orders a try. The Aloha latte has macadamia syrup, and I just subbed oat milk. It came out ok. The Kailua latte has more of a cinnamon taste, which was a big overwhelming but still decent. The chocolate muffin was warmed up, but still cold in the center. A pretty basic muffin. Ever since traveling to Hawaii, I've missed the taste of Kona coffee. I happened to stumble upon this business while browsing on Yelp for a new coffee shop to try around the area. It's located in a commercial building but parking is free and convenient. Make sure you enter the garage through Portsmouth Street. The cafe has plenty of seating and the bright lighting throughout makes for a great study spot. The latte I ordered had macadamia nut flavoring in it and it was a perfect blend of creamy and nutty. It wasn't too sweet at all either. I've been here twice since writing this review and have yet to try any of their food items, mainly because I've usually eaten a meal by then. There's a wide range of sweet and savory options from sandwiches, pastries, and gelato. Of course, as cafe that brews Kona coffee, they even have the classic spam musubi. The place is quite cute and the employees who were there were kind. My sisters & I went there on a Sunday morning, and it was a bit busy. I ordered the Kailua latte and it was good but I'm glad I could taste the coffee than an overwhelming sweetness. My wife chose wisely, her frozen blended thingy was made made well, the right consistency and flavor. My hot cappucino wit' two splendas was almost as good but much more carb conscious. I did good carb-wise until I saw and consumed wit' gusto a large slab of banana bread. They have a wide range of prices on their coffee beans so please do ask to avoid sticker shock....you know Hawaiian beans are pricy. One bag was over 30 dollars and the kona warrior was only 13.
