Dampf Good BBQ is the epitome of Texas barbecue; they are recognized on the Michelin Guide and rightfully so! Located on a ranch, the restaurant is operated out of a food truck style trailer with the big smokers set up right next to it and country music playing over the loud speaker. And the seating area consists of large picnic benches under a big outdoor roof. Vibes: immaculate. Note the line to order can take a while if there are a lot of people, but only because they give you your food one at a time right after you order it. Our group of 4 ordered the Texas Trinity to share and it was plenty of food, we even had to take home some leftovers. The brisket and pork ribs were extremely flavorful and tender, and the sausages had a bit of melted cheese in the center! And all of their sides are delicious, great pairings with the meat, especially the shell mac & cheese! Lastly, we finished the meal with banana pudding made with Biscoff cookies instead of Nilla wafers: an absolutely amazing idea. Would highly recommend!

This is my second time visiting, but this time I ordered online! I raved about my first visit so much that a few friends from out of town wanted to try it out and they were extremely impressed. I arrived at 11 o'clock. They stated my order will be ready around 11:15 and I received my order before 11:10 AM. The taste was consistent- nothing short of amazing. My friends and I decided to have the full experience and ate in the picnic like area (it was covered). This is definitely good barbecue. Great place for lunchtime; I noticed a few groups of people gathering for lunch in professional attire.

It's a food truck with a bunch of commercial stick burners, a covered line and a big covered eating area. Its nice and clean and has some great aromas that made it acceptable to wait in line for over an hour.Once I got to the order window, the staff were helpful and efficient. The BBQ is not cheap but it is great. I went with a few friends and brought an order home for by better half. Everyone was really impressed. I'm a TX BBQ guy and apparently so are the owners.... 100% we will be back!

First time trying their food - best barbecue I have had in long time. Bacon Brisket , Pulled Pork, Brisket and Pepper Muenster Sausage all were on point and top notch. Mashed potato salad, Cole slaw and Baled Beans very flavorful. Look forward to ordering earlier to try the beef rib and pork ribs. We took it to go but look forward to eating there next time. Nice ambiance and great service - if there is a long wait just know it was worth it

We waited 90 minutes in line at this off the beaten path Michelin rated bbq joint and it was worth it . Best BBQ ever . Anywhere. Seating options are a bunch of picnic tables outdoor only. Sooooo delicious.

Really cool spot in very unusual location. Service was very good and food selection is varied. Smoker onsite and fire pits were keeping guest warm while waiting as it was freezing when I came. Everything was good and looks great.

The name speaks for itself! I am comfortable saying this is the best BBQ I have ever had. Staring with the sides mac and cheese was phenomenal and the baked beans are like a meal themselves. The platter we order was seasoned to perfection and cooked to the point of tendered goodness. Just upset I am just trying the place, but will be back soon.

One of favorite bbq places in the area. We live eating here, dining is outdoors and food goes quickly. Get there early, order online or try after the rush and hope they have food left. Great service, food. Warmer weather makes it more enjoyable.

Always incredible!! I highly recommend ordering ahead, it's simple to do but be prepared to wait in line still since they only start making your order when you arrive and they alternate between the order ahead line and the regular line. My go-to order is the Texas Trinity, it's enough food for 5 people and is a nice variety of their best meats. Their brisket is the best I've had in years and I'm also a big fan of their pork ribs. The mac & cheese is great! On a nice day it's a fun experience to sit on the picnic tables. Very family-friendly ambiance and also great for groups.

I found this place on Yelp and was super excited to visit while I'm in town. The ratings were good and I wanted to try a couple of different things. I got the brisket Philly cheesesteak, the ribs, and a side of smoked Mac and cheese: the good, the customer service was awesome and the location is on a farm! Very nice. For me, the food fell short. The brisket Philly was overly salty and not cut in half. Because I'm visiting from out of town, it would've been nice to not have to go searching for a knife. The ribs were good I would order them again. The Mac and cheese never made it to the bag which really sucks because I was looking forward to that the most. Really glad I didn't stand in a long line or I would've been really disappointed. To me, it just wasn't worth the trip. I'm sorry.

As a recent transplant from Texas, I can attest to the authenticity. I've waited in many barbecue lines, and I'm certainly not going to complain about one that's in the shade and moves quickly. We had a large group, which was great for trying a variety of things. The beef rib was the highlight, but the brisket, sausage, and barbacoa were all prepared well too. The Mac and cheese was a hit with both the kids and adults in our group. The roasted veggies were also a good side and definitely the healthiest thing on the tray. If you're heading to the fun park, make sure to save time for a meal here!

We made a road trip to Raleigh for my birthday, and Dampf Good BBQ made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we arrived at their food truck setup, surrounded by casual outdoor picnic tables, we were welcomed like old friends. The team was genuinely friendly, taking time to chat and walk us through the menu. When my wife mentioned it was my birthday, they not only remembered but later surprised us with a banana pudding on the house--which was as delicious as it was thoughtful. That kind of hospitality is rare these days and really made an impression. As for the food--it's exactly what you'd hope for and more. I went to school in Texas and have done plenty of work there, so I've eaten at some of the most iconic BBQ spots in the Lone Star State. Dampf Good BBQ is the real deal. Too often, places outside of Texas claim a "twist" on Texas brisket, but the results don't quite live up to it. Not here. These folks are loyal to the roots of Texas BBQ while adding just enough of their own flair to make it special. The brisket was textbook perfect: smoky, tender, juicy, with a bark that had me grinning after the first bite. The turkey was shockingly good--moist and flavorful (no dried-out slices here). The bacon brisket, which is actually pork belly with a sweet finish, was next-level amazing--rich, tender, and perfectly balanced. We also tried both sausage options--the Polish and the pepper Munster--and both were fantastic. Juicy, well-seasoned, with a nice snap and deep flavors. And I have to give serious credit to the sides. A lot of BBQ joints seem to treat them like an afterthought, but not here. Every single one was just as good as the meats. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, the elote was smoky-sweet with a little heat, the potato salad and slaw were fresh and crisp, and the baked beans had that perfect slow-cooked, smoky-sweet flavor. The portions were generous too--we left full and happy, but still found ourselves talking about the meal the whole way home. Between the top-tier BBQ, the welcoming atmosphere, and the personal touches from the friendly staff, this place is something special. If you're anywhere near Raleigh and craving real Texas-style BBQ, make sure Dampf Good BBQ is on your list. I'll definitely be back.

Finally tried Dampf after hearing so much about it. I got there closer to closing and a few items were sold out but I grabbed the last bit of brisket with potato salad. The brisket was tender and juicy, and the potato salad was delicious. If you want something specific but can't get there early, order online and they'll reserve it for you. The staff were incredibly kind and made the experience even better. There's plenty of outdoor seating at Phillips Farm, I stayed until sundown and the atmosphere was great. I missed out on the mac and cheese this time, but I'll definitely be back for that and the sliced brisket.

Those are the reason I'm blocking off my schedule and grabbing my keys like I've got somewhere holy to be. The fries were perfectly cooked (crispy but not trying too hard), and their spin on potato salad was surprisingly delicious -- they smoke the potatoes, and somehow that makes the whole thing taste like comfort food's cooler, more interesting cousin. If you're thinking about going... go. Just don't expect me to share my burnt ends. I meant what I said.

Highly recommend the potato salad and the fried brussel sprouts, the sprouts had this perfect mix of sriracha and honey that was so good. Unfortunately, my visit to the Cary location on Mother's Day was extremely disappointing. My wife, children, and I visited for dinner, and as someone who is currently 8 1/2 months pregnant, I was especially looking forward to a pleasant dining experience. Upon arrival, we were not greeted, and throughout our visit our server, Anasha, provided very limited service compared to what I have come to expect from this restaurant. Our drinks were never refilled, the grill was never changed, and unused plates were left stacked at the end of our table for the duration of our meal. Because the grill was not changed, there was excessive smoke and much of the food tasted burnt or overly charred, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I also noticed the manager seated at a nearby table eating and talking on the phone during service, which appeared unprofessional given the lack of attention to customers in the dining area. Before leaving, I addressed these concerns with the woman at the front and asked to speak with the manager, only to be told that she herself was the manager. The response I received was simply, "Oh, I'm sorry," with no further effort to address the situation. This was by far the worst experience I have had at any Gens location, which was especially disappointing on Mother's Day.

I ordered a combo plate of chicken pastry and bbq pork, with sides of fried okra and potato salad. Everything was served piping hot, just as it should be. The Chicken Pastry (chicken and dumplings) had wonderful flavor and was comfort food at its finest with thick and wide chewy noodle dumplings. So often chicken and dumpling dishes can be overly salty but Ole Time Barbecue's was perfectly seasoned. The barbecue pork also had great flavor and also was seasoned perfectly, though unfortunately I can't do even the most mild of spicy, so even tho there were only a few red pepper flakes, they made it a little bit challenging for me to eat. The fried okra was cooked and seasoned perfectly and not at all oily and the potato salad was also really tasty. I also tasted their coleslaw and mac and cheese from Hubs dinner and both were delicious as well. Also loved their sweet tea, I got it 25% sweet . The biggest surprise was the large basket of tasty hush puppies brought to our table the minute we sat down, and refilled. Also delicious and seasoned perfectly. The location is very homey and diner like, with just a handful of tables so you may have to wait, though luckily we didn't. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was they served their sides in styrofoam containers versus reusable dishes like they use for their main courses. I do love that they're using reusable dishes for their mains so it seems like they could also do this for their sides. Less trash for the restaurant and better for the world... .
