I've driven by Damburger my whole life and I'm pretty sure this was my first time eating here. I'd heard mixed reviews, but it seemed the only appropriate place to eat after our drive to Shasta Dam. I took my wife and kids here and we loved it. Pretty small burger but also not too pricey. I definitely recommend getting your burger with "the works" which adds a nice kick of flavor. Loved this place when my husband first took me years ago... the flat top burger is perfect, thin and crispy on the edges ! I order a double w/ mustard, mayo, pickles , onion and lettuce and it's always delicious. It had been a while since we'd been there since I went gluten free , until I found out they offer GF burger buns and they are actually good buns ! Anyone is entitled to write a negative review. Personally, I don't understand why you would write a negative one about this Shasta staple. I ate here for the first time last weekend and I just really hope I don't keep going for fear of making burgers a habit. These burgers are good. Really good. Actually, the best in Shasta County, is my opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are smash burger style, right? Thin, crispy, somewhat charred patties--which I prefer--unless you get the Helen burger--which I have yet to try. Classic, American burger and fries--tasty fries. All in all, my preferences match the Damburger's style. I guess I belong in Redding. Exactly what I'd been looking for in a burger. Always drove by it on Placer, but never tried it because I was alway on a diet. Well, that's not the case anymore. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu (including vegetarian/vegan options). Thin patties, nice flavors and don't make you feel gross and weighed down after eating one. We paid 23.92 plus a gratuity for 1Single Dam meal, 1 Double Dam, 1 Single Dam and a small shake. They have a Helen burger which is twice the size of a Dam Burger. But a Dam burger is 1/2 the size of a burger elsewhere. Hence the reason for a pleasantly full sensation rather then being stuff. This is the place if you want an old fashioned hamburger (with a slight twist) and fries. I really like the way they prepare the very thin patties, so you need to at least order a double (which is now the size of a regular hamburger). I was EXTREMELY disappointed that there were no tomatoes available to add to my burger, but the fact that there was some fry sauce to dip my French fries in helped with that disappointment. Ok, maybe I am completely missing something here- like maybe this is a zombie cult hamburger place loved by locals, but it was probably the worse burger I have ever had. The hot damburger was paper thin- think philly cheese steak thin. It was so thin In fact that it took me three bites to realize I was eating the meat. I used to a big juicy burger and there is no way to make 3 ounces of meat big or juicy. It was then smothered in mustard and mayo some terrible iceberg lettuce. The fries were hot and crispy so this place gets 2 stars. Service was also fine- pleasant waitress but not pleasant enough to make up for the non-existent burger. read more
