My issue is more with Yelp and Grub Hub than with Dalrock Diner. My food was delivered by a courier that did not act as if they were happy to be working... kind of inconvenienced to be there. I was dismayed to find that it looked as if someone played football with our dinner, though. Everything inside the containers was jumbled together and part of my order was missing, so I decided to lodge a complaint. Here is where I realized I huge problem...there is no good way to do that. If you follow the link to complain to GrubHub, you are given a number that is answered by robot and instructions given to press a number that coincides to your requested destination...only problem is it would not recognize my entries, so would disconnect the call for no response. I searched everywhere on Yelp for a way to send a message or make a call, but all that is provided are FAQ's that do not direct you to anything more than generalized statements...no numbers, no chats and no email. I won't be using Yelp anymore as they are only a middle-man, accepting the money, but not taking any responsibility for the service or lack there of. BTW: I contacted the Diner and was able to voice my complaint with them about the missing items and a suggestion for future ways to better pack the meal. Unlike Yelp, we will be using their services again soon. Amazing how stepping up and making yourself available to feed back will better your business. We decided to try it because we saw good ratings. They do not serve turkey bacon. Then I ordered the strawberry pancake and it was smothered in syrup and was very sugary. Played it smart and came right after 8am church service...10 minute wait This is truly where the older locals dine! Nothing fancy or pretentious which how I like it. I had the "ROWLETT FAVORITE". Great sampler with a Belgium waffle. More than than enough food. Full Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner menu ALL day. Excellant, very personable staff.plenty of parking. Walking or biking distance for many of the residents. You can place to-go orders. One drawback - this place is TINY, very close seating, no patio. It's like eating in the old/retro airstreme diners...which might be the look and feel the owners were aiming for . This is not the place for you, on WEEKENDS, if you don't want to wait in the small, plastic but well designed covered porch area which quickly fills up on weekends and customers flow in to the parking lots. Finally tried this place...so glad we did. We went at dinner and had a super nice waiter name Romane. Very attentive and sweet. My daughter and husband had the special that night which was seafood platter. They said it was great. I had the chicken fried steak fingers with gravy. Super good. And the fried okra was on point...not one soggy piece! My son had the chicken and waffles and he also said the food was good. My grandson digged the mashed potatoes as well! This is the third time back for me. This is definitely a go to place for breakfast. On my third trip I decided to try their dinner. Not so good. I ordered the chopped steak dinner the meat was okay, the gravy tasted burnt and the onions were also burnt and stringy. Served with the meal was a dinner roll and a piece of cornbread, both were dried out and may have been hanging out somewhere for a few days! The wife ordered the Rueben sandwich. The man and I were looking for a quick bite before heading to do our weekly grocery shopping. We had heard they had good pie, we're both suckers for diner food, and it was right on the way. Let me first say, the service was excellent. So, so good. Our drinks were always full, the food came out promptly, and our server knew the menu well. Plus for as busy as they were, the tables were all cleaned quickly (I think that's important). The only atmosphere complaints I have are that the music was playing WAY too loud and that it was so warm in the restaurant that P broke out into a sweat and I was fanning myself with the menu to get air. While I really enjoyed the service and the decor (and even the jukebox playing 30 second clips of oldies songs), the food was severely lacking. P got a chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and I got the meatloaf stack (a grilled slice of meatloaf, topped with mashed potatoes, brown gravy, and fried onions). The breading all crumbled off the chicken fried chicken, leaving an exposed piece of chicken and subpar gravy a gritty consistency, but that was the only complaint P had about his meal. Mine was all wrong. This meatloaf stack sounded like diner heaven. However, the meatloaf was dry, the mashed potatoes were so obviously instant that they reminded me of an elementary school lunch room, the gravy wasn't well mixed, and the fried onions were greasy. It was terrible, frankly. It just seemed to be missing that homemade effect you expect from a diner. The most digestible part of that meal to me was the coca-cola. P wanted to try the pie before we left, but I was so upset that we didn't do that. We had questions, odd requests and substitutions on this most recent visit and were accommodated without any trouble. Not even a weird look (that I noticed) when I asked for side of brown gravy (it was for my fries) or sour cream (for the mushroom burger). Cheeseburger with the fried egg is relatively tasteless as far as the meat goes and there's just nothing special about a thin, lackluster patty. Fried pickles are not the greatest.
