What a great place. The food was delicious and we got it so quick it was enough to make your head swim. Lol. It was fresh and hot. We had the chicken strips and they were the best I think I've ever had and were pretty fond of the big chain everyone knows. ;) We were pleasantly surprised by the side choices. I really enjoyed my meal here. I had a chicken fried chicken with Mac n cheese and fried okra with a Greek salad to start. The chicken was the highlight, it was so well seasoned and crisp, and the gravy was fantastic! The okra and Mac n cheese was very run of the mill, but not bad at all. The cornbread served with it was sooooo good! Fresh and crumbly...definitely sweet cornbread. The Greek salad was delicious, I loved the dressing. Have been wanting to try this place since it opened, but ended up very disappointed. We went in with a party of 6 and were seated at a small table that was very cramped. The waitress was nice but clearly did not have much wait staff experience. The room was very hot and made us uncomfortable from the very beginning. The food is overpriced and the portions are very small, which is okay because the food itself is horrible. The burgers were similar to a school cafeteria burger. The fries were cold and soggy. On top of all of this, when I ordered my burger I asked for no mustard. When the burger came there was mustard on it. When I mentioned this to our waitress, she handed me another random burger plate with a burger that had mayonnaise instead. She then took the mustard burger that I had picked at and took it to someone else's table and served it to them!!!!! Disgusting! Will not be going back. read more

Our waitress had to be one of the rudest people I've ever experienced. This was a first time visit for much of our group so they were not familiar with the menu. A lot of our group had just gotten back from a trip so we were looking at pictures and talking about their trip. We were all excited to see each other. The waitress stood at the end of the table rolling her eyes at us and sighing while we tried to decide on our choices when we were told they were out of what we originally ordered. We learned of this wonderful diner by a Rockwall Lowe's employee. What a treasure Rowlett has in this restaurant. We have been back five times in a month's span because they have excellent food, great prices and the staff makes you feel right at home. We also enjoy the 50's music and decor. I recommend the chicken fried steak, fried catfish, Cajun meatloaf and fish and chips. Ask for Romaine. Waffles had really good flavor and tenders were crunchy so was a great combination. Cup of buttered grits were spot on not over buttered. I did add dollop of syrup that's how I like them.
