Second visits here. First was a rockstar experience of their breakfast. Today we tried the lunch. Somewhat disappointing. Enough to drop a star down to four. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry milkshake. The burger had good flavor but the patty just seemed so small. Perhaps I've been having too many special burgers that I'm starting to expect a bunch of beef. The fries had good flavor. The plate was way too large for the meal. In other words, if you are going to use a large plate, it looks like I'm not getting as much food if a quarter of it is empty. The milk shake was nothing special. Really no strawberry flavor to it. Even the strawberry didn't taste very strawberry. I still loved the breakfast (five stars) but not the lunch so much (three stars). read more

Tried Dalrock Diner for the first time on a Saturday at 11am and couldn't have asked for a better breakfast. For $10 I got the pork chop and eggs breakfast. 2 delicious breakfast chops, 2 eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and worked as a team to make sure everyone had refills. Dalrock Diner nailed the details too. The butter was room temp so it was easier to spread. The jelly options were great (mmm, orange marmalade), the chops were perfectly seasoned (my Bear let an involuntary "sweet jesus" slip after he tried a bite), and the eggs were exactly over medium as requested. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this place! I literally order the same thing every time I come here. I get the chicken fried steak & eggs. The portions is HUGE. I can never finish the whole plate. The first time I tried this restaurant, I was completely floored. The best way to describe the food is: it tastes like they use real food...like they actually make it! Good food, good service, gets busy in peak times, 50's-60's themed. Good breakfast and lunch.

I often pass this place and see cars packed into the parking lot. Once I got inside, I quickly realized the place is filed with people who are too old to cook. Most of the people are over 75 yrs oI. I ate there today. I ordered, chicken fried chicken, turnip greens, and mac and cheese. Everything was delicious except the mac and cheese. There is no real cheese in it, in fact there is no dairy product in it at all. Regular Kraft out of the box taste far better than the garbage they served. It has a powder they mix with water and noodles. Horribly tasting stuff. I told the server, and she looked like she could care less about what I said. Very inexperienced in handly complaints. As a successful business owner and former restaurant manager of 15 years, I cringe when I see the server not care that your food isnt up to par. I mentioned to her that she should offer something else if what I got wasnt good to me. She was a very inexperienced server. The cashier showed he did not care either. Restaurants like this will soon be empty. People that complain legitimately are your best customers, because the rest of unsatisfied customers simply: WILL NEVER GO BACK to the restaurant. We eat here every so often. Breakfast is always good, hash browns are the best, order them a little crispy. So let's get to the meat and bones of this review. The meatloaf with Creole sauce is fantastic, the sauce makes the meatloaf. Very tender and full of flavor. The turnip greens at this place are the best I've ever had. Omg they are delicious!! So tasty that I didn't even need pepper sauce for them. Chicken fried steak is very flavorful too. Adding a dinner salad to any entree is no regret. Homemade croutons and ranch! Yum! This place is always crowded so make sure you are not in a hurry to sit and eat. I've found on average about a 10 min wait. Friendly wait staff! read more

Ok lunch time well it's eating time. I had the gyro breakfast very very good love that pita bread with eggs. One burger for the table very yummy excellent taste for the meat the bun was light toasted. One Mediterranean chicken salad skewers of chicken and fries yummy. Rounding off the review are the cinnamon French toast ....wonderful all around the table This last visit spaghetti and meat balls on the special today, the pasta was good not great but the meat sauce was good and the meat balls very very good. One of our party got the CF chicken excellent, Mack and cheese very good too. Since it can get busy the owner put those wind barriers on the front so if there is a wait and you wait you're out of the elements. I've ordered here before and the food was good. I placed an order through GrubHub tonight and when my food should have arrived my driver messaged me saying they never put my order in, and my driver had to leave. I called the restaurant and they said they only had three people working, that she didn't forget about me she just refused to put my order in and "your order wasn't the only one I didn't put in because we've been too busy." So be warned. They're short staffed, and when they're short staffed they'll straight up refuse to put online orders into their system, and won't inform you- YOU'LL have to call THEM to even find that information out. read more

I had the pleasure of eating lunch here on Weds. I was very impressed. I have a "quirk" when I eat out I like to have Ranch dressing sometimes as a dipper, I seem to judge my eating establishments that way. Lol! Well I ordered a Grilled Cheese with Bacon and Tomato. French Fries and a side of Ranch. I loved it all! I know it's only a grilled cheese, but to me it's the simple stuff. My sandwich was really good and grilled perfectly. The bacon was cooked perfect and a generous amount to boot. The tomatoes were fresh and the French fries were terrific. To top it all off, some of the absolute best ranch dressing I have had in quite a while. My server Helen was very kind and attentive and the staff was very friendly. I will be taking Hubby there for breakfast, I am happy to have come across this gem. read more

Often when I visit new places, I discover that it's the small "hole in the wall" shops or eateries that have carved a niche in the cuisine competition by specializing in a few specific dishes that set them apart from the big chain restaurants. It is very rare that you find a local restaurant that can master every dish on the menu. Most of us go into a restaurant and order one or two familiar items that we've enjoyed in the past. In my opinion, this is why big chain restaurants remain successful. My family and I moved to the city of Rowlett, Texas in 2021. I was fortunate to find a small restaurant right as you enter the town off highway 30. This restaurant is very difficult to miss if you are driving down a popular street in Rowlett called Dalrock. It bears the name of this popular street. I'm talking about none other than the Dalrock Diner. After visiting this restaurant four times in one week, (when you're moving there isn't a lot of energy to cook for a family) we had the opportunity to not only try multiple items on the menu but also get familiar with the wonderful staff of employees that serve there. What I love about Dalrock Diner is the total experience. It's the smiles and the family like atmosphere when you walk in the door that makes all the difference. Imagine traveling to grandma's house who lives on a farm and cooks everything farm to plate fresh. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fluffy pancakes, bacon, eggs coupled with the smell of a brewing pot of coffee. My mouth is watering just thinking about country potatoes and piping hot grits to finish the design for a perfectly assembled country breakfast. As far as my foodie palette goes, a country breakfast cooked the right way would satisfy. However, this small diner not only specializes in the "most important meal of the day" but has also mastered a variety of Tex Mex and Greek cuisine options. I love the variety which allows my taste buds to always be entertained! My wife and I love the family like atmosphere of this place. We met the owner several times who goes out of his way to come to your table and greet you. It is rare to find a jewel of a restaurant that has all the qualities that I desire when choosing a spot to dine. How did I not know about this place before? We were in the area on a Sunday morning and were looking for a good place for breakfast. Yelp found this place for us. The parking lot was full and the restaurant is tiny. We parked in the empty office parking next door and were fortunate to get a seat right away. This is my kind of "one off" place. They have a 50's and Coca Cola theme going and it s VERY clean. Our server was the best and got everything we needed. Went to Dalrock diner on a recommendation. Went at opening and met by the owner. What a clean and wonderful restaurant. The owner was friendly and welcoming. The food was very good and served quickly. Staff was well understanding of custom orders- I was testing them. They had fresh vegetables and cooked properly. I peaked into their kitchen and it was well laid out and clean. Tables were clean and I noticed all tables were clean. I was impressed and I have become someone who looks for things that would be a detractor. Bathrooms were clean. Kitchen was clean. Everything was clean. Food and atmosphere was very welcoming. I must admit, I was looking for things that day. I was in a bad mood and I found nothing. I will be a repeat customer. I went back on a weekend and they were very busy. This place is incredible from the food to the service; classic diner with amazing food. Yeah you're going to be a little crammed during busy hours but it's absolutely worth it. The Gyro is so good I dream about it. 10's across the board. I visited this business after only being opened for two days, so please take that into consideration when reading my review. The food was very good, the decor was retro 50's diner, (black, white and red), the service was friendly but a little slow. I had Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and coleslaw and my daughter had the chicken strips with grilled veggies and mac and cheese. All of the food was freshly made and tasted very good. The owner came to each table and greeted everyone. Average entree prices were $8-10. Breakfast is served all day and included typical breakfast fare: waffles, omelets, skillets, french toast and pancakes. Only reason it did not get a 5 star rating is I think the menu is all over the place- breakfast, comfort food, Louisiana style fish/shrimp, burgers and sandwiches and Mexican food. I would of liked to see the more traditional diner entrees like you see up North. I have to admit the desserts look wonderful and I can attest that the chocolate cream pie was to die for!! I will definitely be going back. It will be a nice addition to the community. read more

Be prepared to wait outside during peak meal times. Dalrock Diner is a smallish facility with big taste. Update: They have now enclosed the waiting area out front to protect you somewhat from the elements. Unless you help them open the restaurant up in the morning, plan on a wait (No, you cannot be seated while awaiting the rest of your party to show up). This is a good thing, though. I found this little diner by accident but it was a good accident. I came in at about 1135 in the morning just before the lunch rush. I enjoyed a cheeseburger which is plenty large with a fresh tomatoes onions lettuce and mustard. I also ordered the onion rings but next time I won't. They were beer battered and the onions themselves were mushy . Not to my liking but they might be to some. Breakfast is served all day and from what I could tell from seeing other patrons plates the food looked delicious. We will have to try it for breakfast soon.
