Turkey Sandwich
Tiffany C.

I went to Dales diner during my lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see such a wide array of meals. This diner has an intimate cozy vibe, which sucks you in the moment you sit down. I opted into sitting at the bar and ordered a cold cut turkey sandwich on sourdough bread with avocado and zucchini fries. I don't typically order cold cut sandwiches but the server shared that it is one of her favorites and it caught my attention. I couldn't finish the entire meal so took significant left overs. I am looking forward to enjoying this for lunch tomorrow.

Dale's Diner has been around for a very long time. It was fun to visit here again. The vibe is a 1950's era classic diner. The decor is thematic, but not overdone. Cute, vintage signs and product logos. Turquoise vinyl booths, that mimic car interiors from that time. The menu is fairly extensive, with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. I visited a breakfast time. My friend ordered the egg, sausage and French toast. Everything looked terrific, with a substantial sausage patty. I ordered the bacon cheddar omelette. It was ok, but not great. Too dense, it needed more fluffy. The coffee was pretty good and I appreciate that they have a half n half option! Our waitress was efficient, but not as prompt with coffee warm ups as we desired. I gave this a 3 star review because it wasn't anything special. The overall experience was pleasant, but not a Wow! Go for the fun 50's vibe!

Be ready to wait for a table or check it out when is not brunch time (at least on the weekends, Sunday to be exact) I always search for diners wherever I am, and Dale's was the chosen one!Costumer service outstanding, food superb, place awesome, they have those 50's decor that I love so much, the ONLY thing bad I can say is that they only have ONE restroom ..... but overall I will definitely comeback when I am in town.

Excitement at the beginning

The food itself was good and the service was great, but the diner was in rough condition -- dirty floors, a strong odor, and an overall run‑down feel. It overshadowed the meal, and I wouldn't return.

Patty melt + zucchini fries; steak sandwich + fries; cherry cokes

Really cute local spot. Love the decor + nostalgia. The cherry cokes were made w/ coke, cherry syrup + maraschino cherries. The party melt bomb and traditionally made. The zucchini fries were crisp. Very friendly service.

Bottom is the Mustang Omelette. Above is Hubbie's bacon and eggs with hashies! Yum!

This is my Hubbie and my go to Saturday morning breakfast place. I have the same thing every time. The Mustang Omelette. It's my favorite. It has spinach, avocado, green onions and feta cheese. I add a couple of dashes of Tapitio and it's the bomb. Rounded off with crispy hash browns and sourdough toast. We get quick, friendly service every time. I like the old fashioned diner atmosphere and old songs on the overhead speakers. The rest of the menu is great! Hubbie's favorite lunch sandwich is the club. The patty melt and the burgers are delicious! Quick quality service. I encourage you to give it a try

Super cute 50's themed diner right by long beach city college. Service was friendly and quick. We came in on a Saturday afternoon (1pm) and we were able to be seated right away. They play 50's music and are open until 9pm. Their burgers and milkshakes were so good! We shared the basket of frings and it was just the perfect amount. Onion rings were delicious. My boyfriend even said it touched his soul haha, we will definitely be back!

Dale's Diner is the definition of a classic Long Beach spot. I've been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. This time I rolled in with my homie after a flight--it's super convenient since it's not too far from the airport--and it hit the spot perfectly. I ordered the patty melt on rye, and wow... it was exactly what a patty melt should be. Crispy golden bread, perfectly melted cheese, and that juicy patty cooked just right. Comfort food at its best. My buddy got the same thing, and we were both just grinning like kids at how good it was. Our server, Brooke, really made the experience even better. She was kind, attentive, and made us feel welcome without being overbearing. You can tell she actually cares about her customers. Dale's isn't trying to be flashy--it's just a timeless diner where the food is tasty, the staff is friendly, and you always leave full and happy. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to, and that's exactly what I've been doing for years. Highly recommend the patty melt if you want the real deal!

It's been awhile since I've been to a diner for some good ol breakfast. Service was good. They kept the diner coffee coming. Food hit the spot. I ordered the chicken fried steak which turned out more like country fried steak. Not what I was hoping for, but most places serve it as a patty. Nonetheless, food was comforting. I like their homemade rye bread. Parking was easy. The atmosphere takes you back to 1950.

This is the turkey burger and the sweet potato fries.

I came here a couple of times, and I like how this diner plays old-school classic music (from the 1950s and 1960s), which are the type of music I love, and of course, the people are really cool, especially the girls (like Winter, Vivian, Delilah, etc.), but what's absolutely really sad and disappointing is that my parents and I learned and found out that their food is frozen. I was absolutely very disappointed to learn and find out that their food is frozen. I wish for this restaurant to replace their frozen food with fresh food instead. That's what every diners like this should know as they should know better. Another thing I don't like about this restaurant is how the parking for our vehicles are and that most of the food contains bread as well.

3/24/23 New to me! Dale's Diner! Recom by a friend

9/5/24 Can't decide? Go to Dale's!!!! So freaking good we did & it totally hit the spot Hubby said he wasn't famished so it's my choice. I wanted somewhere that's close by, not loud (or screaming & running rug rats everywhere (hahaha), with unassumingly good food & not too trendy .... This place has all the check boxes. It's our go to classic diner (next to The Village Grill in Claremont). No muss, no fuss. When we got here, it's practically empty with just couple of patrons dining. 50's music coming through the speakers-didn't mind it at all. I was just telling Hubby that I want to experience sitting at the counter to order a good cup of coffee & a slice of warm apple or cherry pie. Today is not the day to sit at the counter (lol). I ordered a burger (medium rare, & Hubby ordered a pastrami sandwich & for me a regular burger on a bun, grilled onions, pickles, lettuce tomato. My combo is accompanied by fries. So happy they still serve Coca Cola products-like I said, classic! Not long after my salad arrived, nothing special but the balsamic vinaigrette was amazing fresh & tangy-just the way I like it, even the croutons were tasty. Right on time, our order was up. Oh my Gosh!! The fries, the fries-- both Hubby & I immensely enjoyed the crispy outer layer, piping hot. These were the perfect fries! He ate all of his before he started on his pastrami. I almost finished mine but had to spot coz I only got to eat barely half of my burger. The beef patty was juicy, tender & bursting with flavor. All the veggies were fresh & the onions were grilled as requested. It was just so tasty & delicious! Hubby really loved his pastrami & he appreciated the soft bread it was served in. I tasted it & It was on point! A tad salty for my taste but I am glad he enjoyed it. He loves pastrami & he says it's better than The Hat (prior to this, he said so far The Hat is top fog on the pastrami front). Those fries, we would probably come back just for the fries hahaha. Our server, Karrie was very friendly, attentive & checked on us many times to ensure our dining experience was enjoyable. Great choice!

I was a first timer at dales Decided to finally give this place a try. they have a great amount of private parking up close (they do share it with other businesses) As soon as I walked in it was extremely busy but a waitress came up and told us a booth just opened and she would clean it right away for us. She wasn't kidding. she was extremely fast but she was really thorough with cleaning the booth and the table. Breakfast is served until 2 pm I believe on the weekend, so we had to get some of their loaded country potatoes/ hash browns, and then ordered lunch items. (Bacon cheeseburger and a French dip) The only two things I didn't like were the potato salad, I did have to send that back. They were really nice about it and took it off my bill. And since we ordered two sandwiches with fries and onion rings I don't think they should have charged us for a side of ranch. I think one side of dipping sauce should come with your meal. (Only two downsides) The banana split was out of this world. They had all the classic diner food and dessert. After we ordered the banana split one of the waitresses came to double check if anyone has peanut allergies. So it's always great when staff takes this serious. Everyone in here was extremely friendly, they have very large portions and they also offered a military discount. I would 1000 percent be back

Super friendly service, quick meal, great price for a steak and came with several sides, fries, Cole slaw and a soup or salad. Love the 50s diner vibe here from the decor to the booths. Feels like a time warp to a simpler and friendlier time just walking in the door.

Fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, and cornbread. Everything was delicious!

It has the most charming Parisian-themed diner aesthetic, but instead of feeling commercial, it gives off those cozy, small-town local vibes that make you want to stay a while. Everything here is made fresh with the highest-quality, best-tasting ingredients. Here is what we tried and absolutely loved: * The French Toast: My absolute go-to sweet dish! It comes topped with beautiful fresh berries. * Chicken Apple Sausage Breakfast: The perfect choice if you are a savory lover. * Chorizo Plate: Super flavorful and incredibly tasty. The food was so spectacular that I can only imagine how amazing the rest of the menu tastes! To wash it all down, the hot chai was phenomenal, and the coffee is great, too. What really tops it all off, though, is the exceptional service. The staff is super attentive--they are constantly stopping by to top off your water or coffee before you even have to ask. They are incredibly friendly and make a genuine effort to get to know their guests and ensure everyone is pleased. I will definitely be back to Starling Diner!

We came all the way from Santa Clarita and we're not disappointed. Past all the namebrand places by the aquarium and came here and we're not disappointed. No one was disappointed actually, we were surprisingly pleased with our selections. Sleeper items are the fried cheese curds by themselves. Make sure you get these. Also the onion rings are batter dipped. And beyond delicious! Only bummer is the drinks are cans, so if you need more than one drink, be prepared to pay for each can. The food was super delicious!!

It was really loud during our visit. I'm not sure if it's always that lively on Friday nights, but it was the weekend of Warped Tour, so there was a lot of music and energy. If you're looking for a quieter meal, this may not be the best night to visit. The food itself was good, but the wait was much longer than expected. We waited almost 40 minutes for our order. Unfortunately, my burger was also made incorrectly. I ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger but was served a different burger instead. Not quite sure what it was, but it had mushrooms and American cheese. Since we had already waited so long, I decided to just eat it rather than send it back. The burgers were flavorful, but they were smaller than I expected for the price, and they don't come with fries. To round out my meal, I ordered the poutine fries. They were decent. The fries were nice and crispy, which I appreciated. My husband ordered the Burger Don Chendo, and that ended up being the standout of the night. I usually don't like spicy food, but this burger had just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but between the long wait, the incorrect order, and the portion size for the price, the experience was a bit hit-or-miss. I'd be willing to give them another try, especially for the Don Chendo burger, but I'm hoping for a smoother experience next time.

I've been to every Halloween pop up, they have been doing this for 2 years now. I was there on Sunday 10/04 and had the MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. First, it started at the enterance. My reservation was at 3:45pm. Security checked our ID's and then asked us if we had a reservation. He asked us to wait in line. We were the first ones in line with a reservation anyways and figured we would have to wait just like the others who were still waiting for their 3:30 reservation. No biggie. But. then a much larger group came and stood in front of us who had a 4pm reservation. We didn't think much of it and were waiting patiently until 3:30 and 4pm were called up first and seated before us. It wasn't even 4pm yet! Made security aware of his mistake and we barely got an apology. I let it go and still had to wait more time to be seated. So then we get seated, it takes 30 mins to just get water. No one has came around to take our order or say they will be with us in a few, nothing. As we are waiting another party of 2 come and sit next to us. They waited half the time and were helped before us!!! Welp, it gets worse you just wait. We get our food first, still no drinks. Drinks got there much later. Well, I started to eat my food cause I didn't want it to get cold. Not time to wait for drinks water will do. I bite into my pot pie it was barely warm. I decide to keep eating it until i got to end of the bite and that's when i got cold juice and the dough was mushy. I made the waitress aware (she had just taken over our table) and she put in another order. Not even 5 mins later, I get my second order. I noticed one bit was a little burnt on top but whatever at this point i'm not trying to ruin the experience for my friend. I go to pull apart my 2 bites and i notice the reason why they were stuck. The dough was RAW and the chicken inside was FROZEN. I had my friend poke it because i was shocked and couldn't belive this BS. Called the waitress over she was really sorry and i showed her how i couldn't even cut into the chicken and you could see the ice on the chicken. She offered to bring out another order but I was done. I didn't want to be disrespected yet again by this establishment. She said she would have the manager come talk to me. I didn't really care to do so but he came. He came to the table a little strong and aggressive. Telling me he actually touched the bite and it was WARM. My friend and I sat there SHOCKED! We all poked it and felt it ICE COLD!!!! So, basically calling me a liar to my face. He's telling me he will get another order out, I refused. I told him I would only pay for the 2 drinks and 1 order of the pot pies. He kept going on about how it was only the second day and he didn't hire enough staff and blah blah blah. I don't mind waiting i'm okay with that. But when others are seated before me and waited before me, then the food went from cold to FROZEN. I have a damn problem. He should've saved his "apology", if you can call it that. He did cover our 3 items which was the least he would do after all disrespect i've endured. I sat there waiting for my friend to finish her food and we finished drinks and left. Cindy our waitress took over after the first waitress left to lunch. She was really nice and none of this was her fault. I asked if I could tip her and she refused and said we didn't have to. I wanted to so I did. I insisted! At this point, the manager came around the corner and i could hear him on her about the tip. I had to intervene and tell him I WANTED TO DO THIS FOR HER. He was really out of line with her!!! She was trying to explain to him that i insisted on tipping and he was not listening to her! Get a new manager. This guy is not a people person. He's a gaslighting individual who has now cost you loyal customer. Days ago I get one of your loyal customer emails. Nice way of treating your loyal customers. P.S. It was very obvious who they wanted to seat & serve first and it wasn't the Latina and Black girl.

I will say it's one of the best Chicken Fried Steaks that I've ever had. Also one of the best Cinnamon Rolls I've had all year. We chose to sit at the counter and the only issue we had was that no one came to take our order or bring us water for about 10+ minutes. After that, though, our server was very polite and everything came out fast after that. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, but it was easy for us to find free street parking close by. The menu is very large, and one thing that we noticed was how popular their bakery items were. Their pie and cake slices were flying off the shelves, in slice and whole form. We must've saw over two dozen cake orders happen in just a short time we were there. I started off the meal with the Cinnamon Roll, and it was giant and delicious. I really liked the glaze on it and enjoyed every bite. I wish they would not add raisins, that would be my only request, but still it was very nice. I followed that with a Country Fried Steak and honestly thought it was incredible. It was one of the best that I've had ever, and I think it was due to the quality of the meat and the breading. The steak was juicy and every part about it was just great. The hashbrowns were also extra crispy and the combo was just perfect. Breakfast is also served all day! :) They specialize in pastries, such as bread and muffins that are made fresh daily! You can smell the sweetness in the air when you walk in. What caught my eye on their menu was the Mexican favorites dishes, I ordered the Menudo and it was delicious! I loved the warm, flavorful stew with the tripe, hominy, and meat. I also appreciated that it was cut in small pieces so each bite had all of the essentials on my spoon! So yummy! Service: All of the staff were friendly and our orders came out perfectly. All in all I enjoyed dinner at Heritage Family Pantry! I can't wait for my next visit!

While visiting family in Long Beach, we were on the hunt for a steakhouse for a Sunday lunch and…read morecame across The Carvery. What we didn't expect, but absolutely loved, was their R&B brunch experience. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was lively, fun, and full of energy. The music completely elevated the atmosphere. The DJ not only had an incredible voice but truly knew how to engage and hype up the crowd, making the whole experience feel like more than just a meal. The location itself is beautiful with trendy and upscale decor. Very picturesque. As for the food, I ordered the Maui French toast, and it was phenomenal. It is not your typical French toast--it had a crispy churro crust and this unique whipped cream, the flavor and presentation really stood out. Sweet, rich, and perfectly prepared, it's something I've never had before and would absolutely order again. Overall, this was such a pleasant surprise. Great food, great music, great service, and a good vibey brunch experience. I have another trip to Long Beach in June and will be back to enjoy it again. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area!

Date night and out of 5 choices my wife picked The Cavery. 1st the ambiance gives me an old school…read morecocktail bar fill with booth seats. Very old school look which isn't bad at all. It has a view of the streets of Downtown Long Beach going east and west and north and south. It's cool for people watching and just seeing the Hustle and bustle of the Downtown area. The food, I had the ribs that came with Mac and cheese , mash potatoes, and corn. The ribs were very tender a little fatty but not bad. The Mac and cheese was the star of the show very cheesy and the noodles were tender, it had a good flavor to it also. My wife had the steak salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The salad wasn't up to par so we had to ask for some mixed greens to and sliced carrots to add to it . It was pretty much just iceberg, lettuce, sliced cucumbers, sliced red onions, and sliced avocado. I originally ordered the side salad that came with mixed greens, sliced red onions, and sliced carrots. My Wife thought her salad would look like that one since it didn't so we made it look like that by adding an additional size salad mixing it with her steak salad so it worked out overall it's worth a try when I go out of my way to come back maybe not but would I come back if I'm in the neighborhood probably so. The service is good. The service were very attentive and the food came out pretty fast as well.
