    Chipotle So Gouda Sandwich
    Martin G.

Service: was fine and attentive Food: the sandwich it self was filling. I got a chipotle Gouda sandwich one of their selections, it comes with chipotle Gouda and chipotle chicken and chipotle mayo which where the main taste of the sandwich not so much the mayo. It also has avocado and pepperoni but I did not notice them much. It could use extra avocado as only one of my half's had a decent portion the other side had a smear of avocado. Ambiance: the space it self is very open and clean with music playing. Relax setting to eat a sandwich

I was looking for a new deli in the area and found Deli Belly; Thankful! My sandwich was amazing. The bread was soft. The sandwich was perfect & was delicious! The service; the two girls, were friendly, both with smiles & both very helpful since it was my first time at the Deli. The whole deli was, big clean lots of places to sit, inside & out! There's a variety of desserts, drinks, chips and gelato bars. Definitely can't wait to go back again.

The Frankie on sourdough no mayo.

I was pretty underwhelmed with my sandwich. It was my first time visiting and I wasn't familiar with the menu. One thing that really didn't help was the very tall counter that made communicating with the employees more difficult. My wife, who is, let's say... not tall, had an even more difficult time and basically I had to play telephone between her and the employee to communicate her order. I got the Frankie and was asked what kind of bread I wanted. I didn't really know what kinds of breads they offer and expressed that to the employee and they basically looked back at me like "git gud at ordering" so I picked sourdough because as I frantically searched for the information on their menu board that's the first thing I saw. Later I read the menu description and it says it comes on a sub roll and I think that would have really made the sandwich better. Overall it was a bit on the bland side. I did have them hold the mayo so maybe I should have asked for extra Italian dressing, but with the sourdough bread that might have made things really soggy. I don't live in the area so unlikely that I'll get a chance to try them again. There were three places right in that area that we were considering eating at and I feel like we would have been happier getting Pho or Greek nearby.

This shop looks small from the outside, but they're quite spacious indoors! They have lots of seating, and large fridges full of cold drinks. There's also a HUGE display of chips at the front counter. The staff I met today were a bit shy/ quiet, but really quick. They recommended the white loaf with the spicy Italian sandwich ingredients. I really enjoyed my food! My sandwich had a great balance of pepperoni, salami, lettuce, beefsteak tomatoes, jalapeños, mayo, and spicy mustard. The French loaf tasted really fresh as well. Toasting it was a good choice for sure!

This is an above average sandwich shop. Not the best and there are others in San Diego I would go to first. However, this place does make a good sandwich. It's a no frills place and they have great options for toppings with a great chipotle mayo sauce. I got the chipotle sandwich in a spinach wrap and it was loaded with meat. There really is no ambiance so this is a grab and go type place. No service to be amazed by because even the employees treat this as a grab and go place; get your food and they are in to the next customer.

This place is a gem! I probably have had most of the sandwich and wraps in this place. So far, no issues whatsoever. Great customer service delicious food. The portion leaves you super full after the meal. Heck! You might have to take them home...but you should eat it the same day. It will get soggy!! Not their fault but yours :) Good music, clean and very breezy. You wont be sweatin. My overall score for this place is 5/5. This place deserves much more. Thank you Deli Belly.

    Chipotle So Gouda Sandwich

Hidden gem in La Mesa. I always like to support local business especially family owned. The sandwiches here are excellent. This deli uses boar's head meats which is hands down the best. I had the chipotle so Gouda sandwich and it was very flavorful, full of quality toppings and chicken. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The manager Venus was very polite and had great customer service. I'm probably never going back to Jersey Mike's after trying this place.

Deli Belly is slowly making its way farther west in East County with this new outpost in La Mesa. They occupy a corner suite in a strip mall off Parkway Drive where parking was plentiful in the lot. The inside had a lot of empty space presumably due to the chairs and tables being put away because of no indoor dining allowed. Boar's Head meats and cheeses were featured ingredients for their sandwiches. The menu had about 25 cold and hot signature sandwiches priced at $9.95 each. I chose The FA which contained top round corned beef and pastrami along with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and 1000 island dressing on an onion roll. The sandwich was neatly assembled and tightly wrapped in wax paper. The meats were of high quality and the dressing complemented all of the other ingredients nicely. The worker was pleasant and patient while I took the time to scan over the menu board. For price and quality, I gave Deli Belly a four star rating.

This is Deli Belly's third location. I've been to the location in El Cajon several times with good results. This time around I thought everything was just okay. I had the Firefighter which came with turkey, roast beef, and bacon on a squaw roll. I asked for deli mustard to be added to the sandwich but they did barely put some on the sandwich. Although the sandwich was tasty, I thought the sandwich could of used more roast beef and turkey. Given the ratio of the thick bread, I could not get a good taste of the beef and turkey. Also, the bread was a little on the try side. Everything else was fine, the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, but one layer of Provolone cheese is just not going to cut it. I want to taste it! The place is nice and clean and they offer a small amount of outside seating.

    An extremely lame sandwich.
    Anthony B.

I dont normally write reviews like this... But this one truly bugged me. This is is hand down the lamest cold sandwich I've ever bought. There is a single layer of every meat, and it is all sliced extremely thin. Every veggie added is sprinkled on in extremely sparing amounts. The bread is massive, has a stale texture, and has an odd flavor. It is almost exactly like the bread on a 4 dollar sub from 711. The price of the sandwich was astronomical for the lame sandwich they provided.

The location is nice it was empty when we went plenty of parking , we orders the meatball and turkey sandwich was our first time here the meatball was ok wouldn't get it again the turkey was dry needed more sauce next time I'll take my time order such as adding more sauce jalapeños dressing to my sandwich felt kinda of rush since the girl at the counter kept asking if we were ready . Willing to try it again since I like boar head deli meat

Pretty good sandwiches at very good prices. A nice surprise is that sandwiches are built FAST. You won't be waiting for 20 minutes as you do at Cheers Deli up on Navajo. Speaking of Cheers Deli I would say Deli Belly slots itself in the middle between Submarina on the lower end, and Cheers on the higher end. Freshness is very much there, but quality leans to standard. It's consistent and of nice quality but it's not too much different than something you could make at home since they're using Boar's head products. Their bread however is spongy, airy, and delicious. Prices are super reasonable. An 8.5 inch classic sub, a bag of chips, and a soda will run you $13.

Both the Mac salad and potato salad are basic, but solid, you get a little 2 oz container with your sandwich. I'll definitely be back to try something else on the menu in the future. My only gripe is that the parking is very limited, likely since it's located within the local apartment complex. We had to park down the road and walk over to get to the shop.

At long last we beamed down, and the experience surpassed every expectation. From the moment we entered, the atmosphere felt like coming home to a welcoming starbase. The staff treated us with genuine warmth and patience as we navigated a menu full of storied classics. Their attentive service turned a simple meal into a memorable mission. My first officer aka wife enjoyed a superbly composed salad, and chose the Turkey Club -- both delivered with thoughtful care. I began with the biscuits and gravy, a traditional hit that tasted like comforting shore leave. But the true highlight was the patty melt: perfectly seared, with lush caramelized onions and melted cheese that achieved harmony at warp speed. It was, without hyperbole, the best patty melt I've encountered in this quadrant. Each bite was a cascade of flavor that felt like discovering a thriving new world. This kitchen knows how to respect ingredients and execute classics flawlessly. No extra condiments were necessary -- the craftsmanship spoke for itself. DZ Akins is now a plotted course for every future convoy through I‑8. Highly recommended for anyone seeking honest, stellar diner fare and service that treats you like family among the stars. We figured this restaurant would serve us well for what it's worth. We had since discovered that depending on which section you were seated on, you may or may not get lacklustre service. This visit was such the latter case. Our waitress, who I believed to be named "Charlotte", unless of course I absolutely misread or misremembered the name, did not seem to recognise nor care for us, despite the amount of dough we put into their entire business (outside of their souvenir shop). Long story short: she was incredibly slow to get our drinks, and even slower to take our order. Meanwhile, she was more than willing to give a much more expedient service and a pleasant conversation to other customers and even her co-workers. At first with the initial service, I was worried about when she'd get on over here within the first five or so minutes to take our drink orders. Heck, even when I requested a refill for my water, she told us "give me a few minutes" as loud and clear as it were. But it wasn't until we were eating where she promptly asked the table behind us for their drinks, AS SOON AS THEY WERE SAT DOWN. That's when I got absolutely infuriated, and felt that my suspicions about her unpleasant and passive-aggressive behaviour were proven to be true. Keep in mind: it was practically dead, not even remotely busy during that day and time of day, with only but about eight customers in TOTAL, including us. The food was okay, I will say, but this time, I just didn't feel like I could take on the whole food order like I usually had done in the past. Whether it was because I slurped too much of that shake, or because I was being treated very poorly with my friend, one would have to take a stab in the dark on that one. We left extremely bitter about the situation, and we even thought a $10 tip was far too generous for the terrible treatment we received from our waitress around that day; we usually tip much higher than that. I've since been very uneasy about coming here even to pick up some fresh bagels from the bakery.
