Always mean to have the crab cake sandwich, but never do cause there's always an enticing special. Today's was meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli for $9.95. The description hadn't mentioned mushroom gravy, so I had to extricate the slimy fungi from the loaf into a pile my companion devoured. The gravy was a bit watery, and the meatloaf a bit greasy, but it was still a solid meal--just enough food for my appetite. Next time: crab cake. Definitely. So that's downstairs for lunch, a 4 star experience. But I had to knock off a star for drinks upstairs a few weeks ago. The bartender, a tall, morose man, sure took his time. When a friend arrived, he looked at her, then turned his back while she waited, bewildered, for him to actually ask her what she wanted to drink. Another friend mentioned, standing there with money ready in his hand, "If I was in The Cellar, I'd have had 3 drinks by now." Have to go back for another try, cause the atmosphere is worth it. read more

Cocktails are pretty normal here. The mojito is deceptively strong and very popular, but not quite as good as the mojito at Chez Henri. The food is unremarkable. For the most part (I have had most of it) the menu is just ok -- if you're hungry get the Daedalus burger or the Cobb Salad (seriously, it's huge). If you're still hungry, I'd recommend the fallen rum-glazed bananas -- oooo, rum-soaked rasins! angel food cake! very good vanilla ice cream dusted with toasted coconut! and...bananas foster! Yay! The thing that really sets Daedalus apart from the other places in Harvard Square is the strict carding policy at the door (you need a state issued ID + a credit card or form of id to get in during peak periods and great for keeping out the riff-raff Harvard undergrads) and ... drum roll ... the roof deck! Which should open any day for the rest of the summer! I'll be there. p.s. -- If you come later (after dinner), you don't have to order food to sit out there. read more

I have been here way more than my credit cards want me to admit. I love this place. Love, love, love. Why? It has personality. An awesome roof deck, two bars, and delicious food. One of the bartenders used to be a librarian (me thinks?) and makes great conversation when the rest of your party is running late - really nice guy! Crabcake appetizer is delicious, the specials are perfect (I had the beef stew awhile back, incredible good!), and the service is always good. The server even apologized when a tabled seated by us ended up being rowdy and offered to move us. So, the food is awesome, the service is good, and did I mention there is a roof deck? Perfect!! read more

Compliment sandwich: Great decor and ambiance. Very nice/attentive servers. EXPENSIVE - beware - Drink - $10 - "special magarita" - 3/4 WATER/ICE - so my friend asked for a new one, and the manager was kinda enough to replace it. Thank you, but seriously, ridiculous to start with. Maybe put drinks ice-free in a martini glass so it doesn't look like a rip off. The best leek, chicken and potato soup I have ever had. It seemed like it was made right then just for me. Not too salty, not too peppery. Excellent flavor and temperature, with nice real hunks of chicken. Also the complimentary bread with humus was taste too (especially for my vegan friend) And finally - the fries....you know everyone should have a potato product a day, and if I lived closer I would just come for the fries every day. I am glad I don't go to harvard. read more

Not too shabby, Daedalus. I'm always apprehensive to try new places to eat, but when I called ahead to make sure they knew someone with a gluten intolerance was coming in with a large dinner party, the host said they had accommodated this type of restriction in the past and he would let the chef know. The atmosphere here is chill but modern, and we were seated upstairs in a long table underneath a glass ceiling after a very brief wait. I flagged down the waiter to tell him that I had called beforehand, and he seemed a bit confused by what I was saying. Maybe it was just his character or perhaps he was new, but when someone says "Yeah...yeah...that [salad, entree, etc] should be ok, I mean, yeah the chef knows" in an almost patronizing tone, I feel a bit uneasy about the food that's placed in front of me. However, we literally went through almost the entire menu to discuss what kind of sauces and side dishes and appetizers would be appropriate for a gluten free diet, and after 10 minutes of Q&A and celiac education, I felt a bit better. Despite the sort of spacey waiter, the restaurant pulled through. My dinner party ordered a bunch of appetizers, and they changed the recipe for the Buffalo Chicken Fingers so that I could eat them (ie, no flour in the batter, and grilling them separately instead of frying). For an entree, I chose the Pan-Seared Salmon, minus the lemon butter sauce. I was reassured my dishes were safe to eat, and they were both tasty. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals, which were a range of entrees and sandwiches. There were a few minor issues - they ran out of lamb for the Risotto of the Day dish. The waiter was slow in serving the drinks, but I give him credit for handling a large party, especially with my constant questioning. They also turned up the music quite loud towards the end of the meal, I guess it turns into more of a bar crowd after 10-11, but it was kind of distracting. I would try Daedalus again, but maybe with a smaller group. Calling ahead definitely helped, and it was great that the chef was able to de-glutenize whatever I wanted to eat. So, 4 stars for the willingness to accommodate, atmosphere, and good (but not amazing) food. read more

Hoisin sauce + calamari = taste bud faux pas That being said, the calamari was otherwise fantastic - fresh & crispy, great chipotle aioli ($9.95), the flank steak ($21.95) was a little low on the flavor but tender & juicy, excellent grilled asparagus with just a touch of sweetness--mm, mm, the seafood risotto was tasty to the point of distraction--very generous portion too. Service was wonderful. read more

When researching this place, I noticed a trend in the yelp reviews. One, two, or all three of the following three things are noted: -The service was terrible -The food was mediocre -The best part of the meal was the pita. I have learned a valuable lesson: listen to my fellow yelpers. All of these were true. The hostess was very nice so I hoped that it would translate over to the waitress. This was not the case at all. Multiple times, our waitress (who walked away after 3/4 of us had ordered a drink and had to be chased down because she couldn't hear us yelling, "excuse me!") was standing in the corner, spacing out. I can totally understand if she's busy and running around, but seeing her standing in the corner with her hands on her hips really frustrates me. One member of our group wanted to leave her less than 10%, which didn't happen but she didn't really earn what we did leave her. The food was ok. I ordered a special, which was a crab salad. It was fine but they didn't really put any dressing on it, and I couldn't find the waitress to ask for more until the check came. Two friends got the trout, which had a toasted-coconut-cilantro sauce, but both of them said it was boring and nondescript. The fourth had the nachos, which were good, but then again they were nachos. Sadly, the best part of the meal WAS the pita. I wouldn't say that I would NEVER come back. I have heard they have good brunch, and I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I would make sure I didn't have pressing, time sensitive plans right after. read more

I've been to Daedalus a total of three times, and just went two Saturdays in a row. The second time I went (last Saturday), I ordered a burger and french fries. It was pretty good, but there was no way I could finish that all by myself. On that night, the Pats were playing the Ravens, and as a loyal New Yorker, I feigned disinterest, which was pretty easy to do given that there was no crowd for what I'm understanding was supposedly a pretty exciting game. Fast-forward a week later and I, once again, find myself at Daedalus. Four of my friends had birthdays within the same week - one of them couldn't make it to his own party because he wasn't allowed to (I'll spare the details). We started off as a group of three, and by the time we left, each seat (10) at the table was taken and a few people had come to join us from outside as well. We had a really awesome server who was super accommodating and kept coming around to ask if we wanted anything to eat, kept filling our water, and asking for drinks. He did not make a big fuss about providing separate checks for everyone either, which was pretty awesome. I ordered the bruschetta and the caipirinha while I was there. The bruschetta was AWESOME, and I highly recommend it. The caipirinha was also good. Since our party was so big, someone made a reservation for ten, but it was almost completely empty when we got there at 8. The crowds started coming in at around 8:45, so keep that in mind. read more

So they have rooftop seating, if you're looking for rooftop seating. Daedalus has a nice atmosphere, and is probably a fun place to have drinks if you're simply looking to have drinks in a fun place. But after having a few dinners here, I can safely conclude that the food is consistently subpar. The menu descriptions of their entrees all sound really appealing, and a couple even sound exciting...but Daedalus makes a misstep that is all too typical of restaurants in this genre: they overseason everything. If your entree includes garlic, expect it to be loaded with unreasonable amounts of garlic. Expect the most dominant flavor in your dish to overwhelm all other flavors on your plate. Expect sauces that are just a tad too heavy. I most recently ordered the lobster ravioli, and - despite that protein's infamous richness - the lobster was overwhelmed by the sauce, cheese, and seasoning. Unnecessary! Daedalus was something of a default option when my wife and I wanted to take friends out for a neutral, inoffensive, one-stop dinner + drinks in Harvard Square. After a string of disappointing dishes, however, I don't think I'm going back. read more

I had no idea this place existed until some friends took us here for some beers after the Harvard Square Oktoberfest. Love love love this roof deck (note: you can't sit at tables unless you're eating, but there are a few places to stand/hang, including a great bench towards the back near the server entrance). I hear they even have heat lamps so you can still enjoy the roof during the wintertime, which is pretty sweet. Decent selection of beer at typical prices, and when we were there they were brewing some sort of homemade hot mulled apple cider- that smelled amaaaazing- that you could add some Captain in it (delicious, but pricey at $9). It wasn't crowded at all- of course it was like, 5 PM on a Sunday- and the crowd was pretty mixed (hello random European smoker dude with his polo tucked into his Harvard sweatpants?). All in all, we had a lovely time sipping some beers outside on a perfect fall afternoon. I'd be happy to come back for drinks, although based on other reviews would probably save my appetite for a place more deserving of my dining dollar. UPDATE 10/23: Had a light dinner here on the roofdeck, and while service was spotty, my tomato soup was generally tasty and my dining companions had no complaints about their meals either. read more

Bartender specifically called out a friend of mine by our standing counter not ordering drinks and told him "you've had too much go home, you can't stay here." We just walked in, he had not ordered nor was intending to order any drinks there. Just incredibly rude unsolicited interaction from one of the bartenders. read more

Nice place for drinks on warm evenings, though the few times I have been there in the spring the wait staff seem to have an odd rule of only allowing dinner customers (those eating full meals) to sit on the rooftop patio even later in the evening (like 10pm onwards). The patio is perfectly set up for an outdoor bar and it would be even greater if they replaced the tables with a lounge set up and served only drinks out there. That is, after all, their strong suit. I've had dinner here once (and never again!) and was quite unimpressed with the quality of the food. Very generic menu of pastas, meat entrees that are kind of expensive and not terribly good (food was both salty and under-seasoned at the same time...if that's even possible). However, the place is very popular as a grad student drinks place and for good reason. Drinks are reasonable and unlike most bars in Harvard Square, this one actually has windows and light (NOT in a basement somewhere or a windowless building). The set up also allows for a fairly intimate feel - the upstairs bar feels a bit like an enclosed greenhouse and the party spills onto the aforementioned patio during warmer months. So bottom line is recommend it for drinks, but go elsewhere for dinner. read more

On a great spring day, we were looking for a roofdeck that wouldn't be insanely crowded when we were told to check out Daedaleus. It wasn't too crowded, and we were able to be sat fairly quickly. Everyone wanted to eat upstairs, so we just grabbed a beer at the downstairs bar while we waited. The bartender was friendly and gave us our check quickly when our table was ready upstairs. I have to admit I felt bad for the hostess that day. We wanted to go upstairs but they sat us in the sun without an umbrella and due to my fair skin, I was convinced I was going to get sunburned, so we asked to move to another table. Talk about being picky. Then I saw 3 or 4 more groups do the exact same thing to that table. They really need an umbrella there! The waitress was nice and our food came quickly. Nothing like having a beer on a roofdeck! I got the chicken sandwich and the bf got a crab cake sandwich. Both were great, and I'd order either again in a heartbeat. If we didn't live so far from Cambridge, I would guess this would be regular spot for beers for us. I really love drinking outside and I just don't think there are enough in Boston. read more

This is such a hidden gem, stuck between Harvard and Central Square. I especially like the upstairs, where it feels like I am laying down in my bed, watching the stars, with dim lights accompanying my romantic night. Young professionals and graduate students frequent Daedalus. If you are a little careful, it will be clear that the menu is focused around literature-greek mythology! Drinks are not the best that you'll find around in Boston BUT the bartenders are still pretty good, making probably one of the decent mojitos I've had in town. I usually go to Daedalus after 11 pm for plain old conversation. I am yet to try the food.. read more

I'm seriously conflicted about this place. It's only appealing feature is the rooftop deck. This is a HUGE advantage for them because there are very few other outside dining areas or bars in the Cambridge area. But they've blown it. So much potential squandered on an inferior product. Daedalus is the Ryan Leaf of Cambridge bar/restaurants. The food is mediocre. And a double Jack and Coke costs $17. Seriously, are you kidding me? To add insult to injury, I've been annoyed by putzy male bartenders on at least a few occasions. Will someone please buy this place and transform it into the fun factory that it should be in this prime location? read more

Are You Cool enough to Eat Here? I almost was not. I ordered at the bar and had the nerve to ask it to be sent to the table I was waiting for. The waitress had the nerve to balk at us for hoping she would oblige and serve us the bar tab sandwich--I would of tipped her extra, duh, but this place is all presumption and attitude. Too bad, as their food is good and cheap enough, and the architecture is interesting. The hostess was nice. Oh snap, one of the bartenders was really nice and the other a total d-head. Total ignore you vibe. What a toss up this place is. Harvard Yuppie Puppies abound. read more

Seconding Rebecca K. below, I wish I could give this place 2.5 stars! I'm going veer on the side of 2 stars Went to the roof terrace for birthday drinks on a Tuesday night and they accommodated us really well. We were a big, loud group and the waitress was really patient and friendly. However, the drinks are silliness. Ten dollars for a thimble of strawberry basil martini that tastes like more like pineapple than anything else? Eehh. I went there for brunch on Sunday the same week, because we wanted to try out the food. The menu is pretty pedestrian, with your average brunch food. The chef has definitely played it safe with the brunch menu. I ordered the Salmon Plate, and my two brunch companions got the French Toast with Bananas and the Crabcake Sandwich. There was a big party that ordered just before we did so our food took about 40 minutes to get. Our waitress was really sorry about the wait and the restaurant threw in a dessert for us. We thought it was free desserts for all of us, but apparently giving one dessert for three people makes sense. The manager came up to us twice to apologize for the wait and did so when we left as well, which we really appreciated. The food was okay, nothing special and the portions are quite small. Especially the French Toast was flat-out diminutive. Fries were yummy! All in all, good, attentive service for the most part, but the food isn't the reason to go to Daedalus. The atmosphere is great on the roof terrace and I strongly recommend checking it out for the atmosphere and the atmosphere alone. read more

I'm surprised this place is still in business - the bartenders and waitstaff can barely function, the drinks are blah, and there are much better options in the Harvard Squarea. First I came here for drinks and ordered my signature cocktail. The bartender had no idea what it was (ok, fine, I suppose it's not as common as a martini), so I started to describe the ingredients...and he just passive aggressively thrust a menu at me. Ok, I can take a hint, I'll order from this list. So then I ordered some sangria type drink, which just tasted like fizzy juice. I came here another time with a large group for brunch. Somehow the food took ~45 minutes, even though the place was deserted. They got 2 of the orders incorrect and acted like it was a huge burden to go back to the kitchen...or bring silverware, for that matter. Then they refused to split the bill more than 4 ways. I get it, all those cards are a hassle, but a heads up would be nice if you have a strict policy on the matter. read more

I wanted to like this place more but they just let me down on so many angles. It had its pluses, Cozy bar, good drinks, saw a roof deck, cool decor. As soon as we walked in you could smell the warm apple cider. Mmm. How's that on a winter night. +++ The best thing about the meal was the spread and bread they served before bringing over any of the "bad" food. I chose to get tomato bisque soup and crab cakes. My bf gets the duck special with risotto. (recommended by the bartender) My soup comes out. Tasty but warm. It was just tomato so I ate it as is. Perhaps if it had meat in it I would of sent it back. My crab cake comes out with the duck. I take a look at it. It is soooo obviously overdone. Picture a burnt hockey puck on a plate drizzled with aioli. Uh, try to take a bite, have to force the fork through it. Just wrong and the middle was cold. How could they let this thing out of the kitchen??? I nicely complain to the bartender who totally agreed and he takes it away. He offers me something else, I decide to just go with a salad. Meanwhile my bf is eating his duck entree. It looked thoughtlessly prepared with an unknown brown sauce all over it. The bite I tried was warm and fatty and the risotto was a heap of mush overloaded with parmesan on top. Yeah.. not good. I am later told by him its the worst duck he ever had. My salad arrives in a "cucumber bowl"-cool presentation. It did not have enough dressing on it, the leaves tasted like dirty water. I was so disappointed and he was done so we just paid and left. As soon as we got home, my bf got sick on the food, I on the other hand was hoping the same would not happen to me after my experience. read more

Now this is the spot for the perfect summer date night. Fresh air, flowers, dimmed lighting and smooth music playing in the background...how could Daedalus not be the date spot you have been looking for in Cambridge?! Daedulus is worth the 45 minute wait. We were too lazy/hungry to wait for a table on the upstairs patio level and opted for a seat indoors (biggest mistake ever!). After our delish dinner presented by our very attentive server, we headed over to check out the scene outside and our jaws dropped....the overall ambiance would had topped our perfect summer evening out. So when you arrive, add your name on the very long list, pop a squat at the bar for a couple of drinks and wait for it....wait for it.....you'll get the best seat in the house. Enjoy the outdoor seating as the warm summer nights are slowly ending. read more

Any restaurant with a roof deck is automatically worth checking out in my opinion and in this case the roof deck is actually pretty nice. The view is lovely in that you aren't surrounded by taller buildings on every side and there is a cute fence with flowers, making you almost forget for a minute that you are in fact on a roof. This was my third experience eating here and I have always had good service. The first time I went I was very excited to learn about the tasty pita bread and hummus you get to snack on while waiting for your meal. This time we got our meals before we had even made much of a dent on the pita bread. Okay, we were probably talking a bit excessively, but still. My meals in the past were nothing special (although the people I go with always rave about what they have gotten), but for my third visit I opted for the "special" - risotto. I was so excited to see risotto for once without seafood and instead with chicken, veggies and fresh chunks of parmesan. It was delicious - if only it made a regular appearance on the menu! read more

I don't normally frequent frat row, even if it's Haaaaarvard frat row, or a bar in Harvard filled with, well, Harvard students, or maybe it was MIT. I can't remember at this point, it's all a blur, pretty sure it was harvard. Look, it's simple, this is not a place for mixed drinks, it is not a place for anything "interesting" at least not behind the bar, the denizens, well, that's a different story. I kept having flashbacks of good will hunting looking for mini driver over my shoulder. What is great about this place is the roof top deck. Yeah, it's pretty fab when the weather is right and if you can snag a table, come early as it's a mob scene when the food service is officially open and they allow the horde of people standing at the bar on the 2nd floor to flood the wooden slats of the roof like maenads at a bacchanal. Yeah, then it's pretty great. Otherwise, if you can't get onto the roof, go elsewhere. read more

Good service, food is nice if you are looking for a casual/simple lunch or dinner (e.g. hamburger). Also, If you live near by and are looking for a place to have 1-2 drinks with friends (or just a cider on a cold night) while hanging out in a nice atmosphere, this is a good choice. read more

Food was delicious, staff was friendly, outside patio was relaxing on a nice night. But they were really anal about outside seating: Absolutely no groups over 5 people (we were 6), even though there are a bunch of tables in a row - how hard would it be to slide two of them together? Or squish one more to a table of 5 (which we were willing to do)? read more

I love Daedalus. It's a fantastic dual hybrid: restaurant/bar, outdoor/indoor. You can come here any night of the week and stand a decent chance of snagging one of the outdoor tables on what I believe is Harvard Square's only commercial roof deck (let me know if there are any others, cause I want to visit those too). But, in the event that it starts raining, or the deck is packed, you can always step back inside and have a good time on the generous second-floor bar area. The food is solid -- classic Cambridge new American pub fare. Bottom line: Daedalus with friends on a summer night is unbeatable. Enjoy the breeze, look out over the rooftops of Cambridge, and feel happy you're alive. read more

I love good yet un-discovered brunch places. The brunch menu was small but yummy. My breakfast burrito was hearty but not too filling. The restaurant/pub was EMPTY, so we got a great seat near the window. Our server was nice. read more

Their selection looked pretty good here. I enjoyed our complimentary hummus and pita bread. I had the asparagus and portabella salad. It was tasty. Oh yeah, and the french fries were good too. read more

It's all about the atmosphere at Dadealus. We went last night, on a slightly chilly late-spring evening. The upstairs was packed with Harvard Business School students having a celebratory end-of-semester drink. They were in small groups talking loudly, happily. The doors were open, the room was dimly lit showcasing the deep red walls, the music was good (Curtis Mayfield, James Brown). For a minute, I forgot I was on Mt. Auburn Street in Harvard Square. The atmosphere is that good. The atmosphere is good enough that you almost forget about the food, which is startlingly mediocre. I had the special salad- spinach, roasted corn, roma tomatoes, shrimp, goat cheese, and a citrus dressing. The special salad was 90% spinach, three small pieces of tomato, a few pieces of corn, and an uninspired dressing. For $14.95, it felt like a big rip off. My boyfriend ordered the blackened halibut which was served with a fruity salsa and some rice. It lacked the most basic ingredient - salt - and the entire meal was very, very dry. The fish was over-cooked, the salsa lacked the wetness that salsa is supposed to have (it was just some chopped-up, not-yet-ripe fruit) and the rice was less-than-exciting. My advice: go for a drink. read more

I've been to four or five nice group lunches on the roof deck at Daedelus, and studied there in the afternoon accompanied by one friend and a bottle of wine; I've had maybe a couple date-like dinners there; and I've informally invited the Hahvard folks in my program there about ten times for weeknight drinks. It is, amazingly, a place where wine, beer, vodka tonic and Shirley Temple-types all feel at home. So I had to give it five stars. Even though it's not *amazing*, it's always pretty good, and it's pretty good at such a nice variety of things. read more

If you like to drink at 10am, and I'm not saying I do.. Okay, I'm totally saying I do. Anyway, if you like to drink at 10am but also seek delicious breakfast fare to prevent you from getting weird looks from other patrons who are thinking, "why the hell is that looney drinking at 10am?" -- Daedalus is your place. Came here on a weekend for brunch with friends. We had an unconfirmed group size but they accommodated us gracefully, even when we all showed up at different times and spent a while catching up before ordering. My aforementioned 10am drink was a pink grapefruit mimosa, which was pretty darn good. The place was empty, which surprised me because I figured brunch would be hopping. Maybe the Harvard students were saving their pennies that weekend.. or afraid of snow.. or there was an alien abduction on campus the night before.. whatever the case may be (and my bet is the last one), it was very quiet. We got good attention but not overly pressuring. The table we were at was a nice, private booth-y near the bar and the bathroom upstairs. It could have easily seated several more, but it still felt intimate for the five of us that were there. My food was really good -- I had the breakfast burrito and it was filling and healthy. Lots of fresh vegetables and the eggs were cooked perfectly well. My only complaint is it was SO hot when it was served and I wanted it so badly. I suffered second degree mouth burns to quell my growling tummy. Our whole crowd seemed to enjoy their breakfasts, even a self-proclaimed "picky" eater who got the steak and eggs. One friend got a dish with the refried beans, and as any good friend would do, I forked some off of her plate. HOLY SALT! Which is too bad, because they were the GOOD kind of refried beans that are nice and dark so you know they were made fresh not canned Old El Paso junkola. Seriously, I thought she had poisoned her beans as to prevent my thieving ways, but noooo, they actually came that way. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves, the food, and the early morning adult beverages. I would come back to Daedalus for breakfast and maybe even try a different meal there! Bean-free, of course. read more

I went here yesterday for a post celebration of the 1st Vintage Store Crawl. It was OK. I was not overly impressed with their menu or drink selection. Appitiser selection was less than impressive to me, not alot of variety and very small. Dinners are pricey. What I did like and would recommend this place for is their roof deck bar. Very spacious and nice views of the street area for people watching. Incase you are a OCD type like me and hate Bacardi mixed with Pepsi - be happy to know this place has Coke products. I'm sorry it's a big difference to me. Staff was very pleasant and very accomodating. Two things I thought were lame - it was a bit chilly yesterday afternoon and since I didn't have a jacket I was pleased to find they had heaters on the roof deck. I was then bummed to find out that they "don't have them connected for the summer". Seriously?? Who disconnects wired heaters that are permanately attached to the wall. IDK. The other thing is that the bathrooms are small. After a near miss of some dude urinating on me, hello!! lock the door dumbass, I finally got in to the ?closet? Oh god no this is a toilet! It's so small I walked in expecting about a foot before the other wall and as I meneuvered to shut the door and turn myself around to pee, I bumped my head on the paper towel dispensor. Ouch. My recommendation is just check this place out for a quick drink on the roof deck. Otherwise, there are many other locations in Havard that deserve more of your attention. read more

For the love of all that is good in the world do not get the penne pasta with chicken. Do not get it without chicken. It's not good and tastes as if it came from a box that was frozen as some parts were very hot due to the microwave and the other was ice cold. One Star. The bar upstairs is nice but I still can't get past the bad food. The tomato bisque soup was surprisingly good though. I also was freezing and starving when it showed up so maybe that's why I loved it, but yeah, it was good. One Star. But, yeah, the upstairs bar area is nice and the patio is cool, too. But, no to the pasta, this is in Irish place, after all. read more

I have walked in here a few times without staying - too quiet, bartenders MIA, hostess seemingly looking past us for a bigger wallet. I found out that I knew one of the bartenders here and so went to try it again, since he promised there were good Mojitos to be had. My friends arrived before I did, and set themselves up at the bar upstairs (not with the bartender I knew). We all sat and were served our beers with no real excitement. Several times the bartender joked that my friend's husband couldn't keep up with us girls, little did he know the tips were coming from where his jokes were being directed. We ordered mojitos, and later the bartender came around and asked how they were. I was honest and said it was alright. Knowing it had a heafty price tag ($12) he then bitched and moaned about having to make them and how he would never make a bartender make one, blah, blah, blah. Whining? Not interested. He gets zero stars. His female counterpart was slightly more interesting, and less offensive. But they were by far the worst bartenders I've seen working their magic. The male bartender nearly ruined the entire experience. Don't bitch and moan while I'm enjoying my beers! Go home to your SO and do it on your own time man! I will however have to go back and see the bartender who has some class and maybe this bar can save it's ass. Beware the two drink minimum to start a tab. read more

I came after a long day of shopping and really enjoyed just being able to have a couple of drinks. They have a decent wine line which range from $7-10. The tomato bisque was good, very creamy. Things just seem a little pricey for the food/drink portions that they have, but I am sure that that is due to the location. I really love their roof top deck which has fans for the summer and heaters for the winter. The inside of the restaurant though needs some work. It looks a little dark and old. read more

This is a pretty standard bar, nothing too spectacular, unless you count the 20 member party hat wearing crowd that was celebrating a 30th birthday party (birthday boy was wearing a sash pegging him "Mr. Right Now"). I'd go again, if I was in the area, but i wouldn't go out of the way to return. read more

Someone told me not to check this out. Hvd Sq is strange- sometimes I can'd decide where exactly to go hangout. But I went against that advice and stopped in for a beer. Haven't tried the food but the service was decent and atmosphere made it a nice, low key, chill place to hang out. Pleasantly surprised. read more
