Came with my friends for the watermelon soju cocktails!! We were celebrating my birthday and I have been wanting to try these fruit soju cocktails for a while. The watermelon came in a carved out watermelon and had sparklers for a nice festive touch. The watermelon hid the soju taste well. We also ordered chicken bibimbap, soft tofu soup, and rice cakes. This is one of the closest Korean spots that open late! I tend to go here late and when I'm craving Korean food. They have good corn cheese and kimchi fried rice. Their dubokki is good too with cheese and ramen. I would definitely pass on the fried chicken though. The service was good, but they didn't give us more banchan. I think the Yelp rating of 3.5 stars at the time of this review is accurate as the food is tasty, but it's not cheap. Parking is limited as it's a small lot for several shops. I used to come here a few times pre-pandemic, and this was my first visit back since then. I'd say the quality and experience are about the same. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so expect a wait if you come late since this is definitely a late-night spot. The hot clay pot bibimbap was pretty good, very light flavor except for the mushrooms, which were delicious. I hardly found any beef in it though. My fiancee got the pork belly kimchi fried rice, which was surprisingly flavorful. He said he enjoyed his meal a lot, though it was a lot of rice and not too too much else inside. Corn cheese? Yes. Watermelon soju? Yes. Sparklers on top of the watermelon soju?? Heck yes! I love Korean bars and Dae Bak is one of my favorites in Bay Area. There's just something about sharing delicious Korean pub food with a group and washing it all down with shots of soju. Dae Bak serves their watermelon soju inside a small melon and they light a cute sparkler on top of it! I personally prefer the pineapple soju (served in a pineapple of course) because the tartness really works well with the soju flavor. As for food my table shared the japchae, kalbi, corn cheese, and seafood pancake. The japchae and seafood pancake were a bit too oily for me but otherwise all the dishes were delicious. I kept eyeing the beautiful korean fried chicken on the table next to us but unfortunately I was too full to order any more food! I found that the alcohol in the drinks were a bit inconsistent. For instance our watermelon soju was VERY strong but our pineapple soju was on the lighter side. It might depend on which server is making your drinks. The service, by the way, is pretty good but you do have to press the button at the table if you want to get their attention. Dae Bak can get pretty busy. The interior is small so I recommend making a reservation during peak Friday and Saturday nighttime hours. read more

Does come pre doused with a pretty hefty amount of ketchup as omurice usually does but wish they cut back a bit(personal preference of course). Army Stew - 2/5 Extremely traditional. Other places serving this usually add their own twist by adding seafood such as scallops, shrimp or other additions like potstickers, whereas this place is straightforward with just the usual stuff (Spam, Vienna Sausages, Hotdogs). Lost points mostly because it seems they really do cheap out on this when you look at other pictures of surrounding restaurants serving Army Stew (filled with additions) whereas you can see lots of just open broth area for this one. I honestly do think they only gave us one or two ttekbokki pieces as they cut it into slices and there was not that many of them... same for the rest of the stuff, probably less than 4 pieces cut up.... Which is sad looking at other Army Stew places. Service - ?/5 I really don't know to be honest. Might just be Korean culture that I haven't seen in usual modern restaurants but there was a lot of conflicting service. Seems a woman was not quite confident in their waiters skill as she was always trying to do something opposite. We waited about 10 minutes (there weren't that many customers, maybe 3-4 other tables besides us) and the pineapple came out with a sparkler! We ordered dinner from here through uber eats. The banchan was delicious and included a mushroom salad that I haven't tried anywhere else. The kimchi and fish cake were also great! We had seafood + tofu soup. There were clams, shrimp and octopus in the soup. It was the perfect spice level and more than enough for two people. We also had the fried chicken which arrived with the sauce on the side. The chicken was so crispy + came with fries. The sauce was next level! Nights start at the bars and clubs, but every good night ends at Dae Bak. I can't count how many nights I've landed here but it's been a good time every time. For a hole in the wall type place, the prices are definitely on the higher end of the spectrum so be prepared for that. The parking lot is also not very large, but in a pinch the streets usually have space. The service is usually nothing to write home about, except on rare occasions such as one Thursday night when my friends and I were helped by a young man who was so energetic, friendly, and funny. The experience is hit or miss, as skimming other reviews can attest to. My absolute favorite item here is the haemul pajeon (seafood pancake), 5/5 easy. I've eaten plenty of seafood pancakes, but none seem to compare to Dae Bak's, which I crave often. HMU if you got recs to any other good ones! Their menu of Korean food and drunchies are decent, but not memorable. Hot and crispy haemul pajeon, an icy bottle of Kloud and some soju to share at Dae Bak is a recipe for a good time. For food, my friend and I got the Cheese Fire Chicken, the Kimchi Fried Rice, and the Noodle Soup (Kalguksu). All the items were tasty. The chicken was juicy and the cheese pull was on that dish impressive. The fried rice was probably my favorite item we got -- love the addition of pork belly. And the kalguksu had a generous amount of seafood in it. I will say that I think the Cheese Fire Chicken and Kimchi Fried Rice portions weren't very much compared to the price. This is a quaint place on El Camino. We came on a Friday night and the place was packed and wait time was around 20 minutes. There is no outdoor seating, only indoor seating. The ambiance was very lively. After we were seated and ordered, it took some time for food to get served. We got our side dishes first, which were delicious but limited in portions. The sauce was on the sweeter side and I could taste a lot of sesame oil. They were unfortunately soggy by the time they arrived. My favorite Korean spot so far! My husband and I were hungry one night, very late and craved some Korean food. Of course, me being the avid Yelper decided to search for late night eats. Dae Bak was the first one that popped up with a decent amount of reviews and ratings. We went around midnight and it was still crowded! Lots of people eating and having a fun time. We started off with the corn cheese and also got the pork belly. They serve lots of the salad with it which is so good! We also like getting the mandu just because it's always good to have. We've always gotten good service here, with the exception of one time where my brother in law and his friend was with us and the servers told us to hurry up and eat because there's a large party that needs our seats... uhm okay rude. I understand that you're trying to accommodate your customers that have a lot of people, but you don't rush people eating. I was very dumbfounded by it. They kept looking at us and also gave us the check right away. That was like the only time I felt so annoyed by their service. I mean, if you knew you had a large group coming in beforehand, and they're celebrating something, you shouldn't have seated us in that area. We could've waited for another table. Or simply just put a reserved sign on the tables that were needed. I think that was only the time we received crap treatment. I let it pass because hey maybe they didn't realize the party was going to come earlier than expected or what. Lots of things we don't know so I didn't want it define how much we like coming here because of the food and the fact that they're open late. Anyway, I do need to try their epic soju menu. They have like a watermelon soju and pineapple soju that comes in the fruit. Pretty cool and looks refreshing and a fun time. Dae Bak is a great time! I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and it did not disappoint. My favorite dish if the night was the fire cheese chicken. The menu had tins of great choices and the service was friendly. Parking is legit a pain here so keep that in mind. read more

If you are looking for some late-night munchies and drinks, this is your place. Dae Bak is great for those nights you want to go out but not to the bars. Parking: There is a decent amount of parking. They have a small lot in front of the restaurant and a small one in the back. Food: The food is pretty good. I would recommend their fried chicken and japchae. Food is on the expensive side, but the portions are pretty big. We had a group of four and ordered about three things and it was enough for all of us. Drinks: The drinks here are amazing! They serve soju in fruits! I would highly suggest getting the pineapple soju. It is delicious! It's also the only place in the area that does this. The rice wine is also pretty good. It has a nice fizzy component to it. Service: Service is great here! They are super friendly and attentive. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. If you sit indoor, they have a call button on each table. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone that wants great drinks and food. read more

FIVE STARS for the service I had today. I come here quite often since they are open late, and I love the food here. This is my other go to spot for late night food and drinks! I love that they have cocktails and you can even get a soju cocktail in a watermelon or pineapple which you can't get anywhere else (not that I know of). Although I've been here many times, I have never written a review until I met the server Andrew! My bf and I thought he was the nicest guy ever. He was seriously so sweet from the start, we were like "dude where has he been?" He gave us so many recommendations (loved them all), and talked to us as if we were his friends. He's so kind and had a positive attitude, loved his energy! Thank you for the great service, we will def be coming more often. Another thing I appreciated was that he asked if we had any food allergies for whatever we ordered. Heres my review for the food: MUST TRY: 5/5 JAPCHAE, no matter what I always have to get the jap chae here. The noodles are cooked perfectly, super chewy and soft it's also tasty without it being too oily or salty. I love that there's a good amount of meat + veggies. Fried chicken w/ spicy sauce on the side: 5/5 to be honest, I was skeptical about this because I didnt know if Id like the sauce to be on the side. Plus in photos, it looks very plain and simple but this was the BEST wings I've had in a while. It's so crunchy and so juicy. The moment I bit into it the juice was dripping out and burned my lip so be careful Also..the wings are huge and I like that it comes with a few fries. The sauce is more on the sweet side, kind of like yangneom style chicken. I'm going to try the kalbi or garlic sauce next! Beef soondubu: 5/5 The soondubu here is delicious. I'm always craving it! Definitely get it HOT, Its not too spicy and has a lot of flavor. This hits the spot, not too many korean places that open late sell soondubu. Steamed egg: 4/5 can't go wrong with this one! It's so simple yet good. Daebak fries: 4/5 I lovee fries, and this dish is huge and comes with cheese, sour cream, ranch (I think), a kimchi mayo, and jalapeños. The kimchi juice can be overwhelming/soak in then fries so I'd recommend getting it on the side. Tteokbokki with ramen: 4/5 ADD CHEESE! Definitely a game changer. Can't go wrong with tteokbokki! Corn cheese: 3/5 the corn cheese is great + buttery. It's slightly sweet! The only downside is that its not as creamy, just corn with cheese. I feel like if this had mayonnaise it'd be perfect. Seaweed eggrolls: 3/5 this one is good for a crispy appetizer, but I would pass if you already have jap chae. This one is more like an eggroll with glass noodles inside of it. Seafood pancake: 3/5 this is a hugeee portion of seafood pancake. Definitely get it if you have 4 people or more! Grilled mackerel: 2.5/5 for this dish, I can't tell if I like it or not. I felt like $17 was overpriced for what you get, and wish it was pan seared rather than fried. It was also a little bit salty. However, I still like mackerel and enjoyed it, but I don't think ill get this one next time. read more

This place is a Korean pub where people mostly come to drink alcohol. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. Since it is a place where people come to drink, the prices tend to be a little high but the food does not disappoint! I've tried many dishes like the tonkatsu, pork belly, beef intestine, kimchi fried rice, kalbi, spicy rice cake and all of the dishes were delicious. Their food is authentic! Budaejjigae (Army soup): This dish is enough for 3 people, maybe even 4. There's ham, sausage, spam, kimchi, veggies, tofu, cheese, and ramen noodle. It tends to be a little spicy, but not too much.
