I have never been treated so rudely! When we first got to this restaurant, the place was full except for a couple of spots that looked open for my husband and me. We were told to go back outside and scan their website and add our names to the wait list. When I did it wouldn't take the info I put in and said it was a 45 minute wait. So I went inside to tell them I couldn't add our names and since no one was waiting for a seat why couldn't we take one of the open tables. She said no that there was a 15 waiting period. I told her that a nice couple offered their table to us because they were just waiting for their ticket. The waitress looked at me pointed to the door and told us that we needed to just leave. She said it several times. As we were leaving the couple who offered us their table were in shock and said they had never seen anything like it. So we left and went next door to Calico Cupboard where we got excellent service. My husband and I are good people and we're here visiting. What happened to us was so upsetting that I had to write a review. We won't be back to that place. read more

We stopped by here based off of recommendation. So much good to say about this sweet little diner. Homemade biscuits from Alabama recipe freshly made in house. Biscuits and gravy...... oh that gravy- super smokey and meaty- every bite had meat - the best we ever have tried. It is described as "homemade sausage, bacon and ham gravy (tri-country gravy)" Can I just say, it was by FAR the best gravy I have ever tasted. The biscuit sandwich was delicious. We had a great breakfast here, considering the list of foods I am forbidden far exceeds what I am allowed these days. Let's just mention Keto/paleo diet and I think you'll understand, maybe? All I needed was a thick cut, juicy ham and a decent cuppa coffee. Delivered! Pair that with a plateful of tasty, late summer sliced tomatoes, and you can see what I must do to stay honest. That I must avoid eggs too is a real downer, but places like this cater to special orders like mine, thankfully. Not only are the staff friendly, but we were approached by a very generous couple who graciously offered the other half of their table to us. Dad's Diner is very welcoming, as evidenced by all of the diverse patrons and Rainbow flags. All servers were excellent and one of the co-owners, Fletcher takes tremendous pride in his restaurant and in his staff! We had the hash with beef brisket, which is house smoked, and was incredible. If you appreciate a tomato-based vegetarian gravy, the flavor is really nice. We assumed it would be more herb based. We also had a pancake which was bigger than the size of the plate, more of a crape consistency, and was delish! People who don't think they are awesome may need a do-over cause this place is just great service-oriented people serving great food in a really chill place. Go in- take a look at the menu board on the main wall, decide what sounds good then take a seat. The rest is easy- friendly service and a wonderful meal at a fair price. What else do you need? I tried the biscuit and gravy with eggs, and my cousin had the egg sandwich on a biscuit. Everything was really tasty, but that gravy...beyond delicious. By the looks of the plates going by, you can pretty much order anything and know it's going to be good. Judging by the full dining room and no available counter seating, it's likely you may have to wait during busy times, but do it- it's totally worth it. read more

We stopped at Dad's to pick up some take out chow while waiting in the interminable ferry line for Friday Harbor. Last time we waited to get on the Ferry for food. Big mistake. Huge. Lesson learned. We chose the breakfast hash, BLT & Brisket Rueben. All. Were. Fantastic. The hash was just terrific but the star was the super delicious biscuit & homemade jam. Just a little crispy on the bottom with amazing fluffiness throughout. The BLT was really tasty with generous helpings of bacon. It should be called a BLTB. The brisket Rueben will be difficult not to order again. Tender juicy slabs of brisket on some of the best sandwich bread I've tasted in a long time. Whoever is in charge of the brisket should be awarded the Nobel Prize for slow cooked meat. Do not hesitate to dab on their delicious spicy mustard for the full effect. Customer service? There were 6 of us and we were in and out in an hour. 3 of us are eating healthy so even though they weren't on the menu, they made us veggie omelettes which were so good. 2 of us got their Redneck Benedict and 1 got their Dad's breakfast. We had an absolutely fabulous breakfast here this morning! Service was quick, efficient, and friendly and the food was incredible. I got the brisket hash with the Mexican crema and a biscuit. The brisket was phenomenal- it melted in my mouth and had a rich fantastic flavor that complimented the crispy potatoes and diced onions very well. The brisket was moist and crisp on the outside and was served with a small dish of tasty jam (not sure if it was housemade but it was delicious!) The brisket was the best part, hands down, though. The coffee was hot and plentiful. My partner got dad's breakfast with ham and an English muffin. The English muffin was huge and the slice of ham was thick, too. It was so yummy! I'm ashamed to say that I have lived around here for years, but I have never been to Dad's. The only positive aspect of that is that is that I got a brand new fantastic experience. I had the chimichangas, and they were so good that this is what my plate looked like when I remembered to take a photo. In addition, they have badass house made hot sauce branded badassco, friendly staff, and good service. The three stars is because you have to use a scanner when you arrive to get seated. Then the full menu can only be seen by scanning and going to the website. I feel for people who are not cell phone savvy. The foos was really good the. Hubby ordered, Dad's Plate, it is the fried breakfast potatoes with two eggs of your choice, choice of bread or biscuit and meat. The meat is huge. Great option. I had Everything Avocado Toast Crispy fennel bacon, two poached eggs and fresh avocado resting on multi grain toast spread with lemon garlic aioli over. It was amazing. The only reason(s) I can't give 5 stars are the following: We waited 45 minutes for a table. When there were multiple tables available. That was frustrating. When we did get a seat, we were told that their soda fountain was "broken" and the only available drinks were beer, coffee, water or mimosas. That's kinda crappy. I think I would find a way to serve lemonade or something. That's just me. Alcohol or coffee isn't great choices. Let's move on.... we waited another 30 minutes for our food. *sigh* Thankfully it was delicious. I ordered the French toast breakfast. The star of the show was the bacon. It was crispy and had a wonderful flavor!! Swoon!! The French toast was *ok* I had heard wonderful things about it. So my hopes were high. My eggs were good, light and fluffy. My husband ordered the dads double burger. He said it was very good. It had bread & butter type pickles on it. Which made it have a little zip. Their house made hot sauce also stole the show. I put some on my eggs and it was great! Our bill for 3 was $75. That's steep for 2 burgers, 2 beers, French toast and coffee. Plus a tip. Would definitely have to think about going back. Wow. What can I say about Dad's Diner? The food was so delicious, the service so genuinely friendly, and the atmosphere so delightfully decorated with candid portraits of, well, "dads." We were so impressed that we ate breakfast here two days in a row. May I recommend the pan crepe burrito or the delicious hash (they could sell that horseradish crema by the bottle). Fletcher, the owner, was so generous with his time. One of the nicest people we've met on the road. He gave us a great camping recommendation and reminisced about our shared home of Florida. We cannot recommend Dad's enough. When we make our way back up to Anacortes, we will be right back at the diner for a biscuit with the locally sourced raspberry jam. read more

What a treat! We came into Dad's Diner for the first time and we were greeted right away. One of the owners I do believe, shook our hands and asked our names. You seat yourself and look up at the chalkboard menu. There are a ton of selections and you can order breakfast and dinner all day. They serve Fidalgo Coffee here, which my husband said was an excellent cup! Their orange juice tastes fresh and not like from concentrate. We both ordered the hash, I ordered the pulled pork hash with avocado and my husband ordered the corned beef hash. We were graciously given a side of gravy as well. WOW. Get the gravy is all I can say. They make a lot of their foods in house, including their bacon and mayo. My hash was to DIE for. I have enough now for two left over meals. For about 14 bucks it was well worth the cost for the amount of food I got. Over all, we WILL be returning back here with friends and family. I can't wait to bring others here and also to experience the friendly atmosphere again. 10/10 would recommend. read more
